Civil activists Rahim Gholami and Beharooz Alizadeh and journalist Vodood Sa’adati were arrested October 28th to serve their one year prison sentence.
Ayatollah Montazeri's office announced that in solidarity with the families of political prisoners he will not be celebrating the anniversary of the 8th Imam of Shiite Muslims this year.

Amnesty International issued a statement asking Ayatollah Khamenei to immediately retract his statement on Wednesday that criticizing the outcome of June’s presidential election is a crime.

In Khorramabad block, west-Iran is data collected indicating huge oil and gas reserves by Norwegian StatoilHydro company.
Recently also gasfields were found in Ilam, Fars and Khorasan provinces. Earlier gas reserves were found in Kish gas field, located near the Persian Gulf Island of Kish, and Azadegan oilfield.
Two-thirds of Iranian natural gas reserves are located in non-associated fields, and have not been developed.
South and North Pars, Tabnak, and Kangan-Nar are major gasfields.

Iran: justice?

In Evinprison have 2 people died because of lack of medical attention.
One, a 60-year-old man suffered a heartattack after having heartproblems before and the other, a 30-year-old male died of internal bleedings.
Hamed Rouhinejad is in urgent need of medication, he suffers from MS and Jafar Ebrahimi has a damaged C3-4 disc in his neck and has had several panic attacks. Both men were refused to have medicaments.
Abbas Khorsandi was hospitalized at Taleghani hospital and his condition has deteriorated since his admission to the hospital.

Two employees of Rajai-Shahr Prison have been transferred to another prison for having sexual relationship with female inmates.Human Rights Activists has also received different rapports about violence and rape in this prison.
The former security chief of the prison, Khadem, was forced to marry a female inmate after news of his relationship became public. He was first transferred to Ghohar-Dasht Prison as lieu of work but was fired later.
Also is a former warden, Haj Mohammad Shekari, sentenced to prison for trafficking young Iranian girls to Persian Gulf countries. He is currently the head of Basiji prisoners in Rajai-Shahr prison.

The chief inspector in Karaj’s Rajai-Shahr prison asked other inmates to rape two prisoners of conscience upon their arrival at prison.
Human Rights Activists got reports that two post election detainees were exiled to Karaj’s Rajai-Shahr prison at the beginning of this week. During the showtrials IRIB had shown these two on television.
Prisonofficials decided to place them in Ward 1, the same ward that was the scene of the deadly riots.
Prison chief inspector, Reza Torabi, whose responsibilities do not include prisoner placement, personally took the two protesters to ward 1.He asked other inmates explicitly and openly to rape the two newcomers as many times as they possibly could.
Currently, the two are still being held in ward 1 and do not have outside contact.
October 25th, HRA reported about the rape of Abdollah Hemati.
Following public outrage over Hamati’s rape, prison officials forced him to deny the rape allegations in a video interview.
Official newspapers had repeatedly published stories in the past of sexual abuse incidents at Rajai-Shahr Prison.

International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran reports that the judiciary in Iran denies in illegal acts the lawyer of Kian Tajbahksh to appeal against his 15 years prisonsentence.
Tabakshs is sentenced October 18th and a defendant has 20 days to file an appeal.
Till now judiciary officials have repeatedly refused to allow Tajbakhsh’s lawyer to file the required paperwork.

Mohammed Ghoochani, editor-in-chief- of Etemad-e Melli newspaper was according to ILNA released yesterday, after paying $100.000 bail after 131 days in prison.
He has taken a taxi home.




Hossein Derakhshan is in prison since November 1st, 2008. He has spent nearly 10 months in solitary confinement during which he was subjected to beatings to coerce him to make false confessions of having ties to the CIA and Israeli intelligence services.
Currently he is in Evinprison without having a lawyer and without knowing the charges.
In addition to Derakhshan, dozens of Iranian journalists, intellectuals, and activists are also held without charge and with no respect for due process principles and judicial transparency, among them: Keyvan Samimi, Bahman Ahmadi Amoie, Abdollah Momeni, Mohammad Maleki, Ahmad Zeidabadi, Hangameh Shahid, Saeed Leylaz, Azar Mansouri, Shapour Kazemi, Issa Saharkhiz, Mohammad Reza Moghiseh, Fariba Pezhuh, Mostafa Tajzadeh, Abdollah Ramezanzadeh, Behzad Nabavi, Mohsen Mirdamadi, Feyzollah Arabsorkhi, en Mohsen Aminzadeh.
International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran expressed its serious concern for the health and safety of Derakhshan and all other detainees who remain in jail without access to their families and lawyers. The Campaign urged the Judiciary not to allow its duties to be subjugated to the demands of intelligence agencies, which are manipulating the Judiciary and holding detainees without proper judicial proceedings.

Iran: 13Aban - November 4

13Aban (November 4) marches will be held worldwide and Iran to protest.

Another victim from the bloody events of June 20th in Iran was recently identified.
Fatemeh Samsarpour was killed by a sharpshooter of the Revolutionary Guards when she was standing in front of her house with her child.
Her family was only allowed to get her buried under the condition, that there would not be any mourning ceremonies in Tehran.
Agents belonging to security organizations paid a visit to the residence of the dead woman and suggested the family press charges against candidates disputing the election results.

The prosecutor for Tehran filed a complaint against humanrightslawyer Mohammad Oliyaifard.
The summon does not include the charges laid against him.
The freedom of expression unit of Human Rights Activists in Iran reports that this is against the explicit letter of the law,
Oliyaifard defends humanrights- and political activists. In a second file he has been accused of insulting the agents of the Intelligence Ministry.

Iran: measures

The Iranian Health Ministry has reported that 1638 people are diagnosed with Mexican flu/ swineflu/ Ah1N1 and 22 people have died. Most victims are between seven and twentyfour years old.
The director of the Education Organization of Tehran province says that at least 3 schools are closed as a precaution.
Authorities say that adopting simple precautionary measures such as washing hands frequently, using a tissue at the time of coughing and sneezing as well as avoiding kissing can help contain the virus.

Agents of the Ministry of Information in Orumieh shot shot 3 men in a car.
They claimed later that two of the passengers were members of an opposition party.
The names of the men were not revealed and till now the bodies were not returned to the families.

Journalist and human rights activist Abolfazl Abedini is released on a bail of $300,000.
Abedini is head of the public relations department Human Rights Activists.
He was arrested June 30th in Ahwaz and held for 4 months at Intelligence Ministry’s detention centers as well as at Sepidar Prison in Ahvaz.
His lawyer, Olyaifar says that Abedini’s heart condition requires medical treatment not available to him in prison.

The Iranian Department of Environment has warned that Iran is among the 10 countries which cause the most environmental destruction in the world.
In 100 years there will be no trees left in Iran if the devastation continues at such a pace.
The vice-president of the Environment Department says that Iran has to develop models to avoid such devastation for the next generation.
Informing the public about the endangered ecosystem and an environment friendly lifestyle must find their place in daily life.

Between March and September 2008is Iranian economy dropped by 3,3%.The deputyhead of the Central Bank says this is partially due to last year's massive drought in the country.
The agricultural sector had a negative growth of 10 % in the first half of the last Iranian calendar year (March-September 2008).
He predicted that inflation would continue its downward trend as the CBI has taken measures to reduce liquidity. Inflation dropped in the month September to 9.3%.
He also warned that liquidity growth might increase again if the CBI does not take additional measures.
Recession in the housing sector also contributed to the falling economic growth.
The jobless rate increased by 1.1 point to 11.3 percent in the three months that ended on September 22, 2009.

Several fellowprisoners in Rajai-Shahr Prison in Karaj did rape a prisoner October 24th.
Abdollah Hemmat was, after he talked to the deputy warden in a disrespectful manner, raped by a group of prisoners, headed by an inmate named Azizi, who is the representative of ward 4-11.
The warden, Ali Mohammadi, told his representative that they could kill or rape him. When the deputy warden left the ward, the ward representative and a few other inmates raped Hemmati after beating him.
After the incident prison authorities transferred Hemmati to another ward (Ward 5).
In Ward 1 of Rajai-Shar prison in Karaj were Sunday clashes between the inmates and the prisonguards.
During distributing meals a fight occurred between 40 prisoners of the isolation ward and the prison guards. The prisoners succeeded in unlocking their cells and proceeded to the public unit of the prison where hundreds of prisoners joined them.
Prison officials declared a state of emergency and they sealed all the entrances to the section where the riot was taking place.
After 4 hours of clashes between prison guards and about 600 inmates the riot ended.
Several prisoners were injured.

Pakistan freed the 11 Iranian security officers.
They were arrested Monday after illegally crossing Pakistan border in pusuit of a car with smuglers.
Authorities first said the 11 were members of Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards, but later identified them only as security officers.
There is tension between Iran and Pakistan following the bombing in Sistan-e-Baluchestan province.

A senior commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps says the IRGC is planning to intensify its anti-terrorism campaigne in the border areas.
He said that there are longterm and shortterm plans to get the people behind the bombattack in Sistan-e-Baluchestan.

Journalist Henganeh Shahidi has started an indefinite hunger strike. She is detained since June 29th.

The weblog “Tajjdod-Nameh” reports that the student Payman Aref went in hungerstrike to protest his solitary confinement.
He is detained since August 19.
The physical condition of Nouraninejad Abbas Khirsandi has been reported unsatisfactory.
Ahmad Zaid-Abadi is not allowed to have visitors.

From Evinprison is reported that Fariba Pajooh was allowed visit from her family behind a glassdivider.

Khabaronline website writes that the family of Mohammad-Ali Abtahi visited him. He is detained with Saeed Shariati, Ramezan-Zadeh, Atrian-Far and Safai-Farahani in one cell.
Mirdamadi, Arab-Sorkhi and Faridi are detained somewhere else and Amin-Zadeh and Tajer-Zadeh are imprisoned together.

Iran: count

The trial against 5 young Bahais,Haleh Hooshmandi, Afshin Ahsanian, Vahdat Daana, Farham Masoomi en Kayvan Karami. will take place November 9th.
They were arrested in the beginning of the Persian calendar year on accusation of acting against state security by propagating the Baha’i faith, organizing banned groups and having ties to foreign elements.
A few of the defendants were among the group of 52 young Baha’is arrested in 2005.

Majid Hassan-Zadeh., a student who worked for Mousavi’s campaign is sentenced to 3 year in prison.
Hassan-Zadeh was arrested shortly after the election, and tried without legal representation.
He claims that his refusal to play a role in the show trials has led to his heavy sentence.
He has objected to the verdict.

The head of Irans Tobacco Company says there are 12 million smokers in Iran.
This year the consumption of cigarettes has been recorded as 61.2 billion cigarettes, a 1.2 percent increase compared to the figures of last year.
Iran's Tobacco Company's latest figure shows tobacco turnover reached 3 billion dollars.
Around 30 percent of the turnover is authorized by the Iran's Tobacco Company and the rest is carried out by smugglers and foreign companies.

Iran: further

20 October was in Tabriz the second hearing in the trial against Bulgarian truckdriver Zhivko Roussev,, who is accused of the smuggle of 135kg heroin. He can receive the deathsentence for this.
Januar 2009 he was reported to have been in an Iranian jail four months after he had disappeared without a trace.
His employer initially did not disclose any information, but after some time they had reported him missing.
The driver was arrested after police found a hidden compartment in his lorry.

Fariba Pajooh had her vists from familymembers cancelled and her detention order is renewed.
Her lawyer has been notified that her client’s detention order has been renewed.

The workers of Ahvaz Looleh-Chodani in Ahwaz protested for the third time in a week about their unpaid wages of the last 10 months.

Badi Hossein-Panahi from Gharveh, a relative of Anvar Hossein-Panahi, a Kurd, who is sentenced to death is arrested October 23rd by agents of the Ministry of Information. .
Afshin Hossein-Panahi a brother of Anvar is arrested too.
Their whereabouts are unknown.

Reuters reports that in the city of Orumiyeh 12 people were arrested on suspicion of promoting satanism.
The newspaper Resalat writes that they engaged in the promotion of satanism through underground music and the production of blasphemous video clips.

The newspaper Sarmayeh reported that 35 relatives of detained reformists during a prayergathering for their familymembers are arrested.
Initially 60 people were arrested, among them the wives and children of jailed reformists from the Islamic Iran Participation Front (IIPF) party.
The prayer ceremony was being held at the residence of reformist Shahab Tabatabai's father-in-law.

Mehdi Karroubi has been attacked by a group of Basij, during his visit to the Media Fair in Tehran.
When Karroubi arrived at the fair, his supporters chanted slogans, but hardliners attacked him.
Karroubi left at the start of the clashes, nobody was arrested.

PressTV reports that the suicidebomber of the attack which killed over 40 people is named, Abdolvahed Mohammadizadehhad, 24-year-old and he was trained in Pakistan.
These findings were confirmed following the confession of those who were arrested for having links with the Jundallah group.
Jundollah claimed responsibility for the attack.
They also reported that Robert Baer, former Mid East CIA agent wrote in time.com that in past years the CIA was in contact with Jundullah.

Hamzeh Rigi, has been transported to an unknown location within hours after the suicide attack in Sarbaz.
Rigi was arrested April 29 and is detained for 7 months.

Two students Roozeh en Ramin Tehrani, who were arrested in June, are charged with "waging war against god and propaganda against the regime".
They were arrested on June 9th 2009 for their activities during the 2008-2009 school year.
Their lawyers, Ms. Manijeh Mohammadi and Mr. Soltani and Meshkati asked for an extension.
Judge Pour-Abassi of District 26 of the Revolutionary Court granted the request.

The securityofficer of Haft Tapeh Sugar Factory has denied entry to Ali Nejati, Fereydoon Nikoofard, Ghorban Alipour, Jalil Ahmadi and Mohammad Heydari.
Last week they all were sentenced by Khuzestan Court of Appeals.
No reasons have been given for the denial of entry.
Last week Ali Nejati, Fereydoon Nikoofard, Ghorban Alipour, Jalil Ahmadi were sentenced each to 6 months, followed by 6 months of suspended term, Mohammad Heydari was sentenced to 4 months in prison,followed by 8 months of suspended term.
The sentences were issued in a case related to the labor protests in 2007. All five defendants and their lawyers intend to appeal the court’s ruling.
