Iran: always more March 15 2013

In recent months Iran
stepped up
the military help to president Assad solidifying, alongside Russia a lifeline to increasingly sectarian civil war.
Iranian weapons keep pouring into Syria through Iraq, but also other routes, including via Turkey and Lebanon, in violation of a U.N. arms embargo on Iran. Iraqi and Turkish officials denied the allegations.

The governor of Tehran said on Wednesday March 13 that 99 Basij batallions and 15,000 police officers are prepared to keep the peace during the presidential election in June.
The last presidential election in 2009 led to mass street protests and were very costly.

EMADI, Hamid Reza (alias: Hamidreza Emadi), head of the newsdepartment of PressTV
HAMLBAR, Rahim judge in Tabriz, court 1
MUSAVI-TABAR, Seyyed Reza head of the prosecutors in Shiraz
KHORAMABADI, Abdolsamad leader of the Committee for investigation of criminal content.

Over the past few weeks agents of Mahabad Intelligence Office arrested several Kurdish civil activists and journalists and brought them to Mahabad Intelligence Office’s Information Unit and telling their families not to talk about the arrests.
The identities of those arrested are not yet known, but local sources say that at least 10 people are arrested. On March 7 were in Sanandaj five labor activists arrested by the Sanandaj Intelligence Office .
Arrested are: Farzad Samani, Farough Samani, and his cousin, and arrests of more individuals, but due to pressure on families, the identities of the others have not yet been revealed, and Rasoul Khezr Morovat, Ghasem Ahmadi, Khosrow Kordpour. In Sanandaj were Khaled Hosseini, Hamed Mohammad Nejad, Behzad Farajollahi, Vafa Ghaderi, and Ali Azadi arrested. The five are members of a coordination committee to form a labor organization.

The Iranian Ministry of Information and Communications Technology Thursday blocked most software used to bypass the internetfilters.
Also Viber, for free phone calls, and WhatsApp, for free text messaging service, are experiencing problems.
People trying to visit illegal websites are being directed to a page, Peyvandha.ir, where users are encouraged to report illegal use of the Internet.

On March 11 the EU added 9 people to the blacklist of Iranians facing a travel ban and an assets freeze. The total number of Iranians facing EU sanctions is 87.
There is also an assets freeze on one "entity," meaning a company or organization.
The sanctions will be in place until April 13, 2014.The total list will be published on March 12.

Committee of Human Rights Reporters reports that Mohsen Ghashghiyayizadeh, Mohammad Parsi, Ahmadreza Ahmadi, Pejman Zafarmand, and Akbar Amini members of Saraye Ahle Ghalam (Association of Writers) who were detained before, were summoned to appear in court to face charges against them.
In Shiraz is student, writer and blogger of the blog "sufi" Badri Safyari on March 6 arrested by 3 plainclothed officers. After that they searched the house and confiscated personal items including her computer.
The former dean of Tehran Medical Sciences department of Islamic Azad University Parvin Ghafarkhani who was arrested on charges of "insulting the leadership" and was released on a bail of 50 million tomans, put herself on fire and is in hospital in serious physical and mental condition.

Without advanced technology, authoritarian regimes would not be able to spy on their citizens. RSF made a list of five “Corporate Enemies of the Internet, the five companies are Gamma, Trovicor, Hacking Team, Amesys and Blue Coat.

A company that is founded by the Science and Technology Center of Iran's Hamadan province is engaged in manufacturing anti-explosive devices for CNG-run cars.
The device is installed in the car, and it measures the amount of gas leakage.

Mostafa Mohammad Najjar, Iran’s Interior Minister and former Minister of Defense is set to speak Monday in Vienna at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime’s (UNODC) 56th session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs.
Najjar is on the U.S. human rights sanctions list with other individuals, responsible for the sustained and severe violation of human rights during or after Iran’s 2009 presidential election.
Persons on the U.S. sanctions list are barred from travel to the U.S., their assets in the U.S. or U.S. institutions are blocked, and Americans are prohibited from doing business with them.
The spokesman of Iran Human Rights says that Austrian police should arrest the man and hopes human rights groups in Austria will protest against Mr. Najjar’s presence in their country.

Iran: improper March 10, 2013


A member of Iranian parlement told website Khane Mellat that Central Bank and the pharmaceuticals deputy of the Ministry of Health don't act responsible in drugs that have been stalled in customs and allow them entry into the market.
The lack on foreign currency due to international sanctions on Iranian banks and inadequate management by some authorities has further exacerbated the shortage of drugs and the sharp rise in their prices.

ILNA reports that one hundred workers at the Iran Pouya Refigeration Factory were laid off. Similar reports about factories in Rasht have been cause for concern that at least four main factories in Rasht are on the verge of closure.
The Ahmadinejad administration has been repeatedly accused of not releasing the real statistics regarding unemployment and inflation.

US. Secretary of State John Kerry has according to a statement met the family of Robert Levinson who disappeared in Iran.
The statement called on Iran to uphold its offer to help find Levinson.
Robert Levinson disappeared on March 8 2007 on the isle of Kish.

Human Rights Reporters Committee reported on March 8 that five prisoners in Ahwaz who are sentenced to death Hashem Shabaninejad, Hadi Rashedi, Mohammadali Amourinejad, and Jaber and Mokhtar Alboshokeh, along with Rahman Asakereh, who is sentenced to 20 years in jail, began a hunger strike on March 2 in protest against the conditions at Karoon Prison in Ahwaz.
The report indicates that the prisoners on hungerstrike are no longer allowed to contact their families by phone.
