Iran: toll

November 7 are in the prison of Kerman four men hanged.
The men, Morteza Y., Akbar J., Mehdi B. and Alireza S. were sentenced to death with involvement in drug trafficking. The age of the men was not mentioned in the report.
Iran Human Rights underlines that the charges for which the men were executed are solely based on the information given by the Iranian authorities and can not be confirmed by independent sources.

Seyed Kouhzad-Esmaili, the chairman of the Gilan Branch of the Iran Student Organization (Strengthening Unity), appeared November 4 at the detention centre of the Ministry of Information in Gilan.
This happened two days after agents of the ministry searched his business and confiscated books, his computer, checquebooks and businesscontracts.
They also threatened his mother in case he should not give himself up.

Human Activists in Iran reports that between November 4th and 6th, 2009, Evin prison has issued registration cards for at least 400 people arrested during 13Aban protests.
The detainees were moved in groups to Evin from different police stations and temporary detention centers and have been placed for the most part in Ward 209 and the isolation section of ward 7.
Some reports say that the actual number of detainees could be higher, but the judiciary and the police say that only a small number of people have been arrested.

Human Rights Watch urged Iran to immediately halt the planned executions of juvenile offenders.
At this moment three men are sentenced to death for alleged homosexual conduct at a time when they did not reach the age of 18 yrs.
Mehdi P., from Tabriz; Moshen G., from Shiraz; and Nemat Safavi, from Ardebil are all three sentenced to death. No date has been set for their execution yet,but the lawyer of two of the men fears that this will happen soon.

Mehdi P. and Mohsen G. denied the charges and no witnesses testified against them. Safavi was arrested at the age of 16 in 2006, and tried by a court in Ardebil.

Fars reported that at the protests of 13Aban a Japanese and two Canadian journalists were arrested and are charged with ""unauthorized reporting".
Danish journalist Niels Krogsgaard and the local reporter of AFP Farhad Pouladi were also arrested.
Press-TV writes that two Germans and a Canadian are released.

Iran: on and on

Doctor Davoud Solaimani, executive member of Islamic Iran Participation Front is after spending four months in solitary confinement transferred to a general ward of Evinprison.
He was the deputy campaign manager during the electioncampaign for Mousavi.

Reza Nourbakhsh, chief-editor of Far-hikh-te-gan is convicted to 6 years in jail.
He is detained since August 4th. He has also worked for Jomhouriat.
Masoud Bastani, current managing director of Jumhoriat news also received a six-year jail term last week.

Amir Aghaei, a left activist and student from Rajaei University is convicted to three years’ suspended sentence effective for the next two years.
He was detained on December 3, 2007 during a widespread detention of leftist students, and was released in January 2008 on bond.

November 5, Jalil Ahmadi and Feraydoon Nikoofar two unionmembers of Haft-Tapeh sugar cane factory were arrested and transferred to Dezfulprison to serve their sentence.
They and Ghorban Alipoor, Ali Najati and Mohammad Haydari-Poor were sentenced to jail-term in October 2009 and in appeal those sentences were upheld.
Reliable sources say that the other three union-members will be arrested soon.

According to an official the arrested journalist of AFP probably will be released on Saturday.
The whereabouts of "Farhad Pouladi are still unknown and no news was received from him.

The Danish Journalist union says that Wednesday a Danish journalism student was arrested.
Niels Krogsgaard, 31 worked in Tehran to his final year thesis about Iranian politics.
No news is known about him.

Iran: recorded

November 3 is Hassan Asadi-Zaidabadi, student activist and member of Advar Tahkim Vahdat Organization arrested. Two other members Abdollah Momeni and Ahamd Zaidabadi have been arrested earlier.

November 3 is in Babol the house of Bahai Pejzman Nikoonejad searched, after that he was arrested. After been interrogated for 2 hours he was released.
Security agenta came in a Bahai house in Mashhad during a religious session and filmed the session. Afterwards they searched the house and arrested Sonia Ahmadi and Mr Ghanavatian

In Mahabad, Kurdistan province are a woman Roghayeh and a man by the name of Mahmoud Cheereh arrested under charges of having ties with the Kurdish opposition.
In Naghadeh is schrijver and civil activist Hassan Ashaari arrested and transferred to an unknown location.
Also in Naghadeh is cultural activist Kaveh Hassanpour released $50,000 bail until the hearing of his charges.

Journalist Farhad Pouladi from AFP is yesterday arrested while covering the opposition rally. Foreign media have been banned from covering street protests.
He was taken away by two uniformed security agents and one plain clothed agent.
The bureauchief of AFP says that they since yesterday have no news about him.

Iran: shake

Yesterday is in the prison of the city of Zahedan a man Abdolhamid Rigi, hanged.
According to the state newsagencies, the man who was executed, was not the brother of Abdolmalek Rigi, leader of "Jondollah".
He was convicted of being moharebe.

An earthquake of 4.9 on Richterscale in Hormuzgan province, injured at least 700 people.
The earthquake occurred in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, near Bandar Abbas at 02.56 local time.

The judge in Semnan has Bahai Manijeh Monzavian, convicted to three years and six months in prison for acting against national security by advertising for Baha'i faith and membership in Baha’i anti regime organizations.
Unknown people stole the Baha'is cemetery's 2 watertanks in Sangsar near Semnan.
The tanks are so big that it is impossible to move them without the help of a crane .The road to the cemetary was blocked by the city with two steel cables.

In Shiraz is Bahai Ruhollah Rezaei, 46, October 30, on his way home, kidnapped,by unknown people, tortured and in a showexecution hanged with a rope around his neck, after which he was undressed and burnt with cigarettes on his body and his face.
Afterwards they left him in roads outside Shiraz.
October 31st, the Bahai Ali Bakhsh Bazrafkan is arrested by agents of Yasuj Intelligence Office after they searched his house and interrogated him for 2 hours.
Bazrafkan had been a member of the Yasuj Managing Bahais’ Council.This council was shut down last March as ordered by the Revolutionary Court Prosecutor.

In the past weeks members of the OneMillionSignatures Campaign were summoned telephonically to appear in the third security branch of the Revolutionary Courts. Following this they requested written summonHierop hebben zij om schriftelijke oproepen gevraagd.
Maryam Malek, Jelve Javaheri, Kave Mozzafari, Parisa Kakaee and Khadijeh Moghaddam received written summons, dated October 21.
Six others only received telephone calls.

The cases of Ahmad Zaid-Abadi and Mohammad-Ali Abtahi are sent to the Revolutionary Court.
The trial will start soon.
Shahram Boloori still is detained in ward 209 of Evinprison.
He was arrested June 23 and charged for acting against national security by talking to foreign radio stations. Despite that his family posted a bail of $35.000 a month ago, he was not released.
Mohammad Davari’ editor of EtemadeMelli was arrested September 8th and since then he only was allowed to contac his family once and his lawyer has not been able to access his file.
Journalist and founder of Freedom of Press Association Isa Shahar-Khiz's arrest was extended for 2 months at his first court trial.
Although he suffers from a broken rib caused by torture, his condition remains untreated. He was arrested July 3rd.
Mirdamadi secretary-general of the Participation Front and Taj-Zadeh a senior member of Participation Front and Mojahedin of Islamic Revolution Organization, are arrested in June and were allowed to contact their lawyers for the first time.
The families of political prisoners have gathered in front of parliamentbuilding. They carried placquards with photographs of their familymembers.

Iran: in run-up to

Hayedeh Tabesh, member of the OneMillionSignaturesCampaign in Isfahan is summoned for interrogation at the local office of the Ministry for Information.
Juli 2009 she was banned from leaving the country, without charges.
The OneMillionSignaturescampaign is awarded with The German Quadriga Award and the Anna Politkovskaya Award in October.

Defenselawyer Mohammad Mostafaei writes that Mostafa Naghdi and Amir Khaleghi will be released in coming days.
Both were convicted to death as juvenile offenders.
Naghdi has been forgiven by the victims parents and bloodmoney is paid for Khaleghi.

The expediency council approved a plan to move the city of Tehran to other parts of the country.
Seismologists are warning for years that Tehran can easilly be struck by a big earthquake. Tehran is built on at least 100 faultlines, including one nearly 60 miles long.
Twenty years ago there were already plans for a new capital.
Iran has had numerous capitals during its history, including Isfahan, Qazvin, Shiraz, Mashhad and Hamedan. Since 1795 Tehran is the political, social, economical and cultural capital of the country.

Iran: to put an end

Morteza Alviri,former Tehran mayor and top advisor of Karroubi was released yesterday against a bail of $200,000.
He was arrested in September and was the head of the committee set up by Mousavi and Karroubi to follow up on prisoners.
Some websites had reported the release of Behzad Nabavi, however this news is denied by his family. Nabavi was arrested June 16 and was accused in one of the first showtrials, he has not been tried.

The two journalists, who are in hungerstrike Fariba Pajooh and Hengameh Shahidi,are brought to the clinic of Evinprison.
Studentactivist Mojid Dorri , Mostafa Taj-Zadeh, member of central councils of both the Participation Front and Mojahedin Enghelab organizations and Abdollah Ramazan-Zadeh, deputy president of Islamic Participation Front, will be tried next week.
Journalist Ali Sami-Zadeh member of the media committee of Participation Front is arrested.
In Sistan en Baluchistan are various cleric principles of sunni schools arrested after being summoned in court.
Molana Osman, principle of Madinatol-Oloom school, Molana Mohammad-Esmail Zahi, principle of Esha’a Altohid school in Zahedan, and Molana Abdol-Rashid Shah-Navazi, deputy principle of Dorolhoda school in Khash are arrested.

Iranian government wants to open a bankaccount for 36 million people to compensate them with cash for higher food and energy prices when subsidies stop.
Business newspaper Sarmayeh writes cash compensation can mount to $17 a perso, and that 70% of the population including children, would be covered.
They also wrote that a family of four with a monthly income of about $400 would receive $68, but that this would only cover the expected increase in gas and electricity prices.
To end subsidies on food and gasoline is a a key part of Ahmadinejad's plans to reform the economy.
Critics say that removing subsidies can lead to increasing inflation and social unrest.
