The police in Tehran said that another 88 gold and foreign currency brokers are arrested following the crisis between the Iranian government and the Central Bank.
Fars newsagency wrote that they are charged with selling “fake gold coins, stealing money from their customers, and distributing counterfeit dollars and low-quality coins.”

Yesterday four men were vier hanged in the prison of Yazd.
The men, "A.B.", "R.D." and "N.B." were convicted for rape. "M. A. A." was convicted for possessing and trafficking of 980 grams of heroin and 38750 grams of opium.

The brother of the founder of Defenders of Human Rights Center humanrightslawyer Mohammad Ali Dadkhah told International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran that the lawyer is under heavy pressure in Evinprison to confess against himself and to accept charges leveled against him.
He also is showing signs of impaired memory.

UNITY, the official paper of CFMEU, the Australian Construction, Forestry, Mining en Energy Union has launched  a campaign for the imprisoned Iranian painter Shahrokh Zamani. Zamani, member of Follow-Up Committee to Set Up Free Labour Organisations in Iran and the Painters’ Union of Teheran, was arrested last year in June and is convicted to 11 years in prison on charges of propaganda against the regime.

An Iranian cargoship sank Friday due to bad weather in United Arab Emirates waters some 10 nautical miles off the coast.
The crew of six was rescued by a helicopter.

December 27 were 5 men hanged in public in "Mehrvarzi" parks of the city of Yasouj.

Iran increases the pressure on the cleric Ayatollah Seyyed Sadeq Shirazi. Dozens of his followers and managers of a television network affiliated with him were arrested.

Fars reported that Azerbaijan released Anar Bayramli, reporter from IRIB, after 10 months in jail. He was sentenced to 12 months in prison.
The release following repeated requests by human rights organizations and activists and after Azeri President Ilham Aliyev signed a pardon. This pardon ordered the release for 87 convicts, including a number of political prisoners.

ISNA reported that in the prison of Sari on December 25 one man was hanged.
The not named man was convicted for keeping and selling drugs.

The revolutionary court sentenced political activist Naser Sodagari, 65 and his wife Tahereh Rostampour to 5 years in prison and a 10 year ban to Zahedan.
Their son, student Pouyan Sodagari, 24 was sentenced to six years in prison and a six year ban to Kerman.
They were arrested on May 1, 2011 and convicted of attending the mourning ceremony of Ali Haj Aghai. Earlier they were also imprisoned in Evin for one year in 2007 for attending a memorial ceremony for the executed political prisoners in 1988 in Iran.

A document says that a member of Iranian intelligence ordered the head of the Quds Forces, Qassem Soleimani, to assassinate the king of Bahrain as part of an effort to launch a popular uprising to overthrow the minority government.The plan also includes assassinating the chief of intelligence and chief of public security.
Iran has long sought to incite Muslims in the region with the goal of overthrowing U.S.-friendly governments.

Wednesday Iran announced that domestic airlines are ordered to take off at least 30 minutes after the morning Azan (morningprayers).

Iran: contrast December 24th 2012



The speaker for the Iranian parliament, Ali Larijani sent a letter of congratulation to the heads of the legislatures of Christian countries of the world and his Christian countrymen.
In his letter he said that the international community should take appropriate legal measures against "extremists who insult the prophets".

Iranian churchleaders urged prayers for Christians in Iran amid concerns authorities will raid more house churches and detain believers over the Christmas and Western New Year period.
The appeal came after a letter from detained Pastor Behnam Irani, 41, who activists say may not survive the remaining five years of his prison term. He was previously beaten by fellow inmates and guards of the Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj and also looses weight and has a bloodinfection.

ISNA reported on Sunday that statistics show that over the previous 7 months 92 people lost their lives due to alcoholpoisoning. This is an increase of over 100 percent compared to last year.
Most deaths occurred in Eastern Azerbaijan province, 24 men and 1 woman. Kurdistan, Khorazan Razavi and Kermanshah are the provinces with the next highest numbers of deaths due to alcohol poisoning.

The mother of Nasrin Sotoudeh has died in hospital. She was permitted by Iranian prison authorities for 3 hours  to attend the burialceremonies of her mother.
She had brief interactions with family and friends.After that she was returned to Evin Prison.

The head of Environmental and Sustainable Development Organization in Tehran says that 45.000 Iranians die due to airpollution.
He added that over 1.5 million tons of emissions are released into Tehran’s atmosphere each year.
At the 8th yearly meeting of the Iranian Cancer Society he said that 70% of cancer cases in Iran are linked to environmental and human-made causes.

Fars newsagency reported that almost 8 million Iranians have too much money to receive the cash subsidy of the government.The implementation of the subsidy reform plan began in December 2010.
Last week, the parliament prevented implementing the next stages of the subsidy reform plan.
Over the course from five years the government gradually slices the subsidies on fuel, electricity, and certain goods, people with low-income are compensated with direct cash handouts.

Political prisoner Majid Assadi who is detained in ward 350 of Evinprison has begun a hungerstrike for one week protesting the measures of  branch 15 of Iran’s Revolutionary Court by Judge Salavati.
This branch ordered that the prisoners Ali Moezi and Vahid Asghari were transferred to solitary confinement and banned from any visits.
By this action, he wants to attract the attention to the situation of political prisoners who are banned of visiting their families.
He serves a prisonsentence of 4 years.

The health of detained lawyer Javid Houtan Kian who is imprisoned in the prison of Tabriz,is deteriorating due to lack of medical consideration.
Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) reports that he is suffering from kidney and intestinal infections and is being rejected for medical examination.
Houtan Kian is the lawyer of initially to death by stoning convicted Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani. He was arrested in 2010 along with 2 German journalists and the son of Sakineh, Sajjad Ghaderzadeh and sentenced to 11 years in prison following a televised confession and a 5 year ban of profession.The journalists and Sajjad Ghaderzadeh, were later released.

Five Kurdish prisoners in the prison of Orumieh, Ahmad Jahangir Badozadeh, Ali Ahmed Sleman, Yousef Kakememi, Ahmed Temoi and Mostafa Ali Ahmed, were transferred to the ministry of information. Shayan Vahdati a bahai from Isfahan told that Afshin Ighani, Siamak Ighani, Behfar Khanjani and Erfan Ehsani were separated from other prisoners and transferred to the prayer room of Semnan’s prison, where they were put under pressure for four hours to give television interviews.
Vahdati says that these prisoners all suffer a heartcondition and after they refused to meet the demands of the agents, they were transferred to the clinic of the prison.

Incarcerated humanrightslawyer Abdolfattah Soltani was brought to Sinaihospital in Tehran on December 18 for treatment of complications with his digestive system.

American-Iranian pastor Saeed Abedini, 32 is since September detained in Evinprison.
He was arrested when he wanted to visit his family.
The reason for his arrest is unknown, but the American Center for Law and Justice says Abedini was jailed because of his Christian faith. The group says it is launching a campaign to demand the release of the pastor, who became a U.S. citizen in 2010.

Iran: persecution December 19th 2012




Since 2010 more than 300 Christians throughout the country have been arbitrarily arrested.
According to Ahmad Shaheed, United Nations Special Rapporteur for Human Rights in Iran, were at least 41 persons detained for periods ranging from one month to over a year.
Other religious minorities, like Bahai, are also persecuted Sufileaders are attacked and shot, journalists  imprisoned for their websites. Sunni Muslims also face harassment and discrimination.

The Committee of Human Rights Reporters reported that the father of labor activist Seyed Hadi Daneshyar has been arrested by security agents in Shiraz when they detected he was not at home. They also confiscated a computer and personal belongings.
His father has been brought to Adel-Abad Prison in Shiraz.
