On February 24 were in the prison of Qazvin 3 prisoners hanged.
J. (33) for possession of 24 grams of cannabis and 440 grams of Shisheh, M. (32) for possession of 223 grams of heroin and 412 grams of Shisheh and M. (28) for possession of 470 grams of Shisheh.
In the prison of Behbehan was 1 man hanged. A. Gh. for trafficking of 3485 grams of crack.
IRNA reported that in the prison of Sari 1 man was hanged. His name was not revealef and he was convicted for drugs.

An article in The Guardian reported that Iranian children should be taught lessons of chastity in kindergarten. The governor of Tehran stressed recently the importance of “popularizing” chastity and hijab. He said that it cannot be expected to see hijab and chastity exist in society without proper cultural work.

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Manouchehr Mottaki said that he joins the presidential elections in June.
Tuesday he said on his website: "I will propose a plan in line with Supreme Leader's beliefs and the people's demands so that in a government with the name of the Islamic Republic, the president would be more than a sympathiser for the people and give something more than a future promise".

Political prisoner Ahmad Daneshpour Moghadam,who is sentenced to death and who is imprisoned in ward 350 of Evinprison is being rejected medical furlough, despite his deteriorating health condition.
Ahmad Daneshpour and his father Mohsen Daneshpour were arrested after the Ashuraprotests and were sentenced to death after an unfair trial. They are charged with “deliberate cooperation with MKO,” “gathering and colluding against national security,” and “propaganda against the regime and in the interest of enemies.”
The deathsentences were confirmed by the Appeal Court on May 15 2010.

The charges against former Tehran prosecutor Saeed Mortazavi who is on trial for his role in Kahrizakprison deaths, has been limited to "participating in unlawful detentions" and "assistance in setting up false reports or encouraging such actions in relevant officials".

Iran: released and arrested February 26, 2013



IHR reported on February 3rd that in Vakilabadprison in Mashhad tens of secret executions take place. The executions began in October 2012 and have been taking place on Wednesdays and Sundays every week.
At least ten prisoners are hanged each time. On two occasions in November and December, thirty-five and fifty prisoners were executed respectively.
February 10 and 13 tens of prisoners, among them a possible minor were executed.Also there are many Afghan citizens among the executed.

The Netherlands stil discriminates Iranian Dutch in certain sectors of university study.
Although the Supreme Court in December ruled that this is discrimination, Iranian Dutch who want to study or work in certain academic sectors still has to ask for a permit.
Nederlands blocks with nine master studies Iranian students and scholars.They have to apply for an exemption from the Minister of Education. The resolution of the United Nations, "Iran Sanctions Regulations" (2008), gives Iran harder knowledge about nuclear weapons. The courts in The Hague described the scheme as discriminatory.

Experts of UN investigate a ship in Yemen which was intercepted in January in Persian Gulf.
The ship transported surface-to-air missiles, Katyusha rockets, explosives, ammunition and surveillance systems. The coastguard of Yemen says that Jihan II came from Iran. Tehran denies any involvement.

Iran: release February 24th 2013

Committee of Human Rights Reporters reports that poet and journalist Keyvan Mehregan, who was head of the political sections of Shargh and Etemad newspapers, has been released on bail.He had been arrested several times during the past few years.
Other, in January arrested journalists who are released on bail are:
Motehareh Shafiee, reporter at Arman, Ali Dehghan, business editor at Bahar, Javad Daliri, editor in chief at Etemad, Hossein Yaghchi, editor at Aseman Weekly and Fatemeh SagharchiMilad Fadai Asl, Soleiman Mohammadi, Narges Joudaki, Pejman Mousavi, Ameli Amryaee, Nasrin Takhayori, Sasan Aghaee, Reyhaneh Tabatabai, Pourya Ameli, Akbar Montajebi, Saba Azarpeik, journalists detained in January remain in custody. Ehsan Mazandarani, reporter at Etemad, who was arrested a few days ago, also remains in custody.

Iranian authorities should allow at least 20 prisoners charged with terrorism, in connection with the murder of Iranian nuclear scientists, access to their lawyers and familymembers.
Middle East and North Africa director at Human Rights Watch says that if the Iranian authorities have a credible case against those accused of committing murder, they should present real evidence, not forced confessions.

Iran: spy February 22, 2013


In the prison of Dizelabad in Kermanshah were on February 20 3 men hanged.
Media in Kermanshah mentioned that the men were convicted of drug trafficking. No further details were given about the charges and identities of the prisoners.

Reporters Without Borders, the International Association of Iranian Journalists, the Iran Media Program, and Mianeh School of Journalism are some of the other organizations described as “anti-revolutionary” in this statement.
Of the 16 journalists are Rayhaneh Tabatabaee, Milad Fadai Asl, Soleiman Mohammadi, Sasan Aghaee, Nasrin Takhayori, Emily Amraee, Narges Joudaki, Saba Azarpeik, Pouria Alemi, Akbar Montajebi, Kayvan Mehregan, and Hassan Yaghchi remain in prison.
In recent days Ali Dehghan, Fatemeh Sagharchi, and Javad Daliri were released on bail, Motahareh Shafiee was released the next day.

Iran: pressure February 21 2013


February 20 is a man hanged in Arak.
The official judiciary website in Markazi province reports that the unnamed man (23) was convicted for kidnapping and abuse of a 15-year-old boy.
Iranian statemedia also reported that in the near future 4 men in Karaj will he executed in public for raping a girl.
Iran Human Rights (IHR) believes that the number of executions will increase as we approach the June 2013 Presidential elections.

International Campaign for Human Rights reports that blogger Kaveh Taheri of Shiraz was arrested on 23 September 2012 on charges of "acting against national security" and “creating public anxiety in the virtual space.”
After his arrest, when security agents discovered his EuroNews reporter ID card, charges of “reporting for the news agency” and “collaborating in the production of a documentary film” were added.
Taheri is imprisoned in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz .

On February 19 were in Adelabadprison in Shiraz 8 people hanged, among them 1 woman.
The names are: "Lotfollah J.", "Noor Mohammad Sh.", "Abbas N.", "Hossein A.", "Parinaz M." (woman), "Hamid A.", "Abdolvahed M." and "Ali T.".
They were all convicted of drug-related charges.Families of the prisoners were informed that the executions would be carried out on February 20, but Iranian authorities carried out the executions one day earlier without notice.

Newsagency Fars reported that next week in the Eastern part of Iran military exercises "Great Prophet VIII" are held.
General Mohammad Pakpour IRGC said that the exercise is in Kerman, Sirjan and Sirous provinces. The exercise will last for three days and starts on February 23.

The psosecutor of Tehran has confirmed the fines and the deathsentences of four of the people accused in Iran’s $3-billion fraud case.
Mahafarid Amir Khosravi, the head of Amir Mansour Arya Company, Behdad Behzadi, the financial advisor, Iraj Shojai, the financial officer of Amir Mansour Arya Company en Saeed Kiyani Rezazadeh, the head of Ahvaz Bank of Saderat branch. They will be executed following the necessary legal procedures.

Committee of Human Rights Reporters reports that blogger(pen name Siamak Mehr) and political activist Mohammad Reza Pourshajarisuffered a heartattack on February 17th and was brought to the infirmery of Karaj Central prison. Pourshajari is sentenced to 4 years in prison. He has been taken to court 11 times and endured 7 months in solitary confinement.

At least two Iranian newssites and some websites reported that an Iranian armycommander in Syria has been killed by "zionists". Fars Newsagency, which is closely aligned with Iran's Revolutionary Guards says that Commander Haj Hassan Shateri was in charge of the Iranian delegation and reconstruction efforts in Afghanistan and later in Lebanon. The report says that he was killed on February 12 outside Iran. He has been buried in Tehran.
Syrian Observatory for Human Right say that Syrian rebels ambushed his car on the road from Damascus to Beirut.
