Because USA and 12 other Western countries stayed silent was Iran nominated.

Mehrdad Aslani, Hossein Aazamai and Mehrdad Varshoei , three less known prisoners who were arrested on 15 and 20 June 2009, are sentenced to 2 to 3 years in prison by the by the revolutionary court.
They were temporarily released on a high bail and were summoned to the prosecutors office April 27. They were returned to prison.

Imprisoned humanrights and womanrightsactivist Laleh Hassanpour reported in a telephone call with her family that she is under heavy pressure to make a televised confession.
According to her family, the prison guards shouted at her and the line was disconnected immediately.
According to the Committee of Human Rights Reporters, her objection to mistreatment by prison guards has caused her to lose some of her rights in the cell and her television set was confiscated.
March 16, 2010 she was arrested in her home and transferred to Evinprison.
Reports say that she is in bad physical and mental health.

Iran: planned

The labor-unions in Iran published a joint resolution in which they among other things say that prohibition of celebration of this day in Iran is in effect, and many organizing workers of the May 1388/2009 event have been convicted and imprisoned and subjected to heavy sentences.
They also say that in three decades after the 1979 revolution, the minimum wage has been reduced to a quarter below the poverty line and lack of timely payment of these wages and the firing of masses of workers, temporary contracts, have imposed hellish conditions on millions of workers families.
They protest against the circumstances since last Labor Day , since the masses in Iran have been exposed to suppression of their rights.

Iran has increased pressure on teachers over their union and social activities ahead of
Teachers Day on May 2.
The head of the Teachers union Ali Akbar Baghani, and spokesman Mohammad Beheshti Langarudi are reported to have been arrested after they were summoned to appear at the ministry of intelligence.
Recently teacheractivists in Tabriz and Tehran were arrested and warned not to protest.
In the past days are two teachers in Kermanshah fined and three other teachers in Hamedan were arrested.
An activist in Tehran told that several blogs and websites focused on teachers' issues have been blocked.
Earlier this week the Coordinating Council of the Teachers Trade Unions called for a hungerstrike in Teachers Week from May2-8 to protest the prison sentences and death penalties handed out to teachers.
Four teachers are reported to have been jailed in recent months and at least one teacher Farzad Kamangar, is facing the death penalty.

He was allowed to make a short phonecall in which he told that he has been threathened with amputation of his hands when he told about the torture.

Suntanned women in Tehran who are violating the islamic dresscode will, according to the policechef be arrested and detained.
Brig.Hossien Sajedinia says that the national crackdown on opposition sympathisers would be extended to women who have been deemed to be violating the spirit of Islamic laws.
He says that the public expects this.
In recent weeks a cleric said that women who dressed immodestly disturbed young men and the consequent agitation caused earthquakes.
Another cleric warned Tehran's citizens to flee before the inevitable punishment for flagrant behaviour was visited on the city.

The site radio nederland wereldomroep publishes little videoos, asking attention for political prisoners abroad.
One of these prisoners is Iranian/Dutch Abdullah Al-Mansouri, who is detained in Iran since 2006.
He is the chairman and president of the Ahwaz Liberation Organization (ALO). The Ahwazi Arabs are a ethnic minority in Iran.
ALO strives to independency for Ahwaz Arabs. Al-Mansouri was sentenced to 30 years in prison in a closed trial.
It is still unclear where he has been imprisoned.
Since May 2006 a delegation from the Dutch Foreign Minister managed to speak to him only once.

The site Only Democracy4Iran reports that the Human Rights and Democracy Activists in Iran say that Iranian/Dutch Zahra Bahrami was arrested on Ashura, December 27, 2009 and since then is isolated in Ward 209 of Evin prison.
During this time she was not allowed to have any visitors and her family was threathened not reveal any news about her.
She is one of the many unknown prisoners held in Ward 240, 209 and 2a.
The main charge against Zahra Bahrami is that she has acted against the national security of Iran. No laywer has been assigned to defend her case.
Human Rights and Democracy Activists in Iran has informed following organizations on the imprisonment of Zahra Bahrami:: High Commissioner for Human Rights, Human Rights Commission, Europe Union, Amnesty International, Speciale Rapporteur on arbitrary arrests and women of the United Nations, Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Advarnews reports that Hossein Mojahed, the secretary-general of Hamedan Civil Society Party is convicted to 1 year in prison.
Masoumeh Cheraghi, Javad Vafaei and Peyman Ziraki

April 22 Kurdish activist Habibollah Golparipour is sentenced to death by a revolutionary court in Mahabad. He was arrested 6 months ago.
According to Human Rights Activists News Agency he was, among other things, charged with "enmity with god through propagandistic activities" and 'membership in an opposition group'.

Mir Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi both called to peaceful protest on June 12, the first anniversary of the election.

The daily Quds writes that in the prison of Mashhad two men were hanged.
The not identified men were accused of rape.
The official judiciary website in Khuzestan reports that April 20 in the prison of Dezful a man named Rahman.R is hanged. The man was convicted for murder.
They also report that April 27 a man named Mohammadreza D. will be executed.
In the city of Masjed Soleiman is Tuesday April 20 a man, named Reza S. flogged.He was convicted of acts against chastity. The report didn’t mention how many lashes he was punished with.

Iran: further

In Kerman are recently five people hanged in prison.
One of them was charged with civic violence.
Mehdi N. aka “Shahno”, was sentenced to death for armed trafficking of 600 kg of opium and 13 different cases of civic violence, kidnapping, bribery and shooting, leading to the dead of civilians and policeofficers. The sentence for “Shahno” was confirmed by the court in Tehran. Additionally, Feizollah, Nazar B. and A’lam H. were hanged in prison for possessing 595kg opium and 106 kg morphium. The fifth person was Hossein S, he was sentenced to death for rape.

Iran: repression

Enduring America publishes a list with 101 names of journalists who are detained in Iran.
Mention: the names of the journalists of the site Kalemeh are not on this list and some of these journalists, may now have been freed on bail.

According to Human Rights Activists in Iran are currently 18 Kurdish political activists on deadrow: Ali Heidarian, Farzad Kamangar, Farhad Vakili, Shirin Alamhoei, Zeinab Jalalian, Habib Latifi, Shirkoo Moarefi, Jamal Mohammadi, Sami Hosseini, Rostam Arkia, Rashid Akhkandi, Hossein Khazri, Mostafa Salimi, Anvar Rostami, Mohammad Amin Agoushi, Iraj Mohammadi, Ahmad Pouladkhani, and Hasan Talei.
Last week is Habibollah Golparipour sentenced to death.
Five post-election protestors are sentenced to harsh prisonterms. Kiarash Kamrani, Omid Yavari, Arash Ghasemi, Abolfazl Ghasemi, and Ozra Sadat Ghazi Mirsaeed.
Five students from Babol are in prison.
Ozra Sadati Mirsaeed is sentenced to 3 years in jail.
Milad Fadayi is sentenced to one year in prison.
Nima Nahvi and Hossein Jalil Nataj are sentenced to 10 months in prison and suspended one year from university.

A group of 40 students at Shahid Chamran University of Ahwaz was summoned to the disciplinary committee, following the December 7th protests.
8 students are temporarily suspended and banned from the university grounds.
Their names are: Javad Alikhany, Arman Mobini, Mohammad Mousavi Rahimi, Mohsen Jafarpour, Faranak Osoulian, Fatemeh Taghavizadeh, and Ahmad Keshtkar.

Iran: rights

Iran has withdrawn its bid for a seat on the U.N. Human Rights Council.
The director of Human Rights Watch said that mounting global opposition has forced them out of the race and welcomed what she described as a clear condemnation of Iran's "appalling human rights record."
The elections will take place during a meeting of the General Assembly on May 13.

Ali-Mohammad Azad, the governor of Sistan-Baluchestan province said that security and economic activity in this province has increased since the arrest of the leader of Jondollah, Abdelmalek Rigi in February.
He also said that 300 criminals and militants, some of whom belonged to Rigi's Jundollah (God's Soldiers) group, had sought amnesty "to return to the nation's embrace."
According to PressTV Azad said that the immunity has been granted to 110 of those who lodged an appeal.
However, he also said that immunity was only given to those defectors who did not have a private plaintif. The others have to stand trial in a court of law.

Iran: register


In the month Favardin (March 20 to April 20) were in Kurdistan 80 political or civil rights activists arrested, of which at least 8 members of religious minorities, 3 journalists, 2 students, 2 Kurdish activists en 2 political activists, while at least 100 people who were arrested last year, are still incarcerated.
April 2 were at least 30 environmental activists and their supporters arrested in Azerbaijan. Most of them were released.
Around 30 mourners were arrested during the funeral services of Ayatollah Montazari’s wife, Banoo Rabbani.
After a protest near the office of the governor in Sardasht, were 10 people arrested, from 5 of them remain the identities unknown.

Hossein Khezri, 28 and Zeynab Jalalian,27, both Kurds are sentenced to death for "moharebeh" because they are member of the Party for Free Life of Kurdistan.
Khezri is sentenced by the revolutionary court in Orumieh and is April 11 transferred from the prison in Orumieh to an unknown place.
Jalalian is sentenced to death in Kermanshah en has been transferred to Evinprison ward 209 early March.
Amnesty International calls for urgent action.

Two of the three in Iran jailed Americans are according to their mothers in bad health.
Sarah Shourd, who is alone in a cell, has a serious gynecological condition and is suffering from depression and Shane Bauer has stomach ailments.
The americans Sarah Shourd, Shane Bauer and Josh Fattal met Thursday diplomats of the Swiss embassy.

Iran: more of the same

The site Streetjournalist reports that April 19 2 men from Zahedan were hanged in the prison of Kerman.
There is still no accurate confirmed information about the men “Fizollah” and “Nazraz” from the Barahouie tribe.
Unconfirmed reports from human rights activists in Baluchestan say that the government relocates execution of prisoners from Baluchestan to prisons in other provinces: (Hormozgan, Khorasan, Kerman, Yazd and etc). This is done to preventing the spread of the news about the executions.

Rasoul Herdani, 27, was arrested together with two friends during Chaharshanbe Souri ceremony at Wednesday, march 16 and transported to the detentioncenter at the Shapour police station in Tehran.
