Iran: further

In the city of Kerman are according to newsagency ISNA five men hanged.
De men, "Rouhollah Kh.", "Saeed M.", "Shokrollah N." en "Zabihollah Kh." were convicted of drugstrafficking and keeping arms.
The charges have not been confirmed by independent sources.

The newspaper Khorasan reports that in the prison of Birjand three not identified men were hanged.
They were convicted for the murder on security forces during armed clashes on the eastern border of Iran.

Journalist Hengameh Shahidi is in appeal sentenced to 6 years in prison.
The Appeals Court reduced her original sentence by three months and one day.
Last Thursday she was arrested after being summoned to the investigations office of the Intelligence Ministry to answer a “few questions”.
The first time she was arrested was on June 30th, after 161 days and paying $90,000 bail she was released.

The Kurdish student Ali Kantoori is sentenced to 15 years in prison.
According to his lawyer, there was no evidence in the file that pointed to his guilt.
The student activist and his lawyer have 20 days to file an appeal.
In December 2007 was Kantoori arrested and spent 5 months in prison before he was released at a bail from $150.000.
He had previously received a 32-month jail term on other national security related charges.

Iran: rights

Lawyer Mohammad Oliyayifar told in an interview that Heshmat Tabarzadi announced that he, based on Article 168 of the Constitution and the political nature of his charges as the reason, has the right to a open jurytrial.
Until then, he will refrain from arguing the charges of his case before the court.
Tabarzadi was arrested December 27, during the Ashuraprotests.

Derwishes of Namatullah Gonabadi order in the city of Baidokht are not allowed to bury their dead in the Sultani Cemetery.
February 20 warned agents of the security police members of the order that according to an order issued by judicial authorities, they were not allowed to bury their dead there.
In the past few months, this location has become the site of a battle between the officials in this city and dervishes from the Namatullah Gonabadi order.
February last year, the Board of Health in this city banned burial in the cemetery according to a confidential order issued by the governor and the Ministry of Intelligence.

Iran: bars

The captured leader of Jundullah, Abdelmalek Rigi "confessed"at Iranian state television.

Zhila Bani-Yaghoub, the wife of Bahman Ahmadi-Amoui, a journalist who is sentenced to 7 years and 4 months in prison and 74 lashes, reports that her husband told about the inhumane conditions in Evinprison.
Her husband told that he and fourty other prisoners are hold in a cell that is not more than 20 meters.
Most days are spent waiting in queues for the bathroom, the shower, the telephone or the shop.
Ahmadi-Amoui said that the prison conditions are utterly pathetic, to the point that prisoners can not stretch their legs or read a book.
Bahman Ahmadi-Amoui and Zhila Bani-Yaghoub were arrested June 20.

Womans rightactivist Somayeh Rashidi has been released. She was arrested December 20, when she was summoned to appear before the Revolutionary Court.
Her were denied access to her.
Sara and Leyla Tavassoli daughters of Mohammad Tavassoli, head of political office of the Freedom Movement of Iran are released.
The January 17 arrested Mohammad Naeimpour was released also.
Jahanbakhsh Khanjani, senior member of students organization Tahkim-e Vahdat (Office for Consolidating Unity) who was arrested June 14 and spent 4 months in solitary detention, was released.
Somayeh Alamipasand, who was arrested along with her husband on January 17. has been released.
According to CHRR, her husband, Payman Chalaki remains in ward 350 of Evinprison.

Ali Saremi (62) who was sentenced to death December 27th, is transferred from Gohardashtprison to Evinprison, due to new charges.
He was arrested in September 2007 after attending a memorial service for the victims of mass executions of the 1980s.

Iran: lack

Many students of the Shariff University of Technology in Tehran are contemplating immigration to western countries by the lack of attention by authorities for alumni.
This can cause tremendous damage to society.
Reports say that a number of professors have expressed their concern about this.
The Canadian prime minister said recently in a statement that due to the thousands of Iranian professionals who have immigrated to the country in the last 25 years, the Iranian government has contributed to Canada's progress.

According to the site Hrana 3 women in Kurdistan province committed suicide in the cities of Marivan, Sanandaj and Javanrood.
In Marivan, Mehraneh Sharifi committed suicide by hanging herself. She was married and had social problems.
In Sanandaj, Vida Aziziani died in Bathat Hospital from self-immolated wounds. She had familyproblems.
In Tazabad, an area in the city of Javanrood, died Rana a mother of seven children of self-immolation.
Suicide by self-immolation in Kurdish areas occurs at a high level due to a lack of proper legal support and the traditions prevailing in the region.

In an interview with a student publication has known hardliner Hojatoleslam Hamid Rohani said that confrontation methods similar to the ones used in the executions of 1988 should be repeated to counteract the new revolt.

Mostafa Mir Ebrahimi has died in prison.
Six months ago he was arrested while visiting Neda's grave.
Since then , the regime refused to release any information to his family.His name was not registered in any prisons or official lists for the arrested.
A few days ago his father heard from his sons death.
The regime has not allowed Mostafa’s body to be delivered to his family. Regime agents stated that they will first bury Mostafa before giving the family the address to the grave site.

Iran: speaking of

February 23 has Iran arrested the leader of a rebelgroup Abdel malek Rigi.
Rigi is the leader of Jundullah, a militant group, who claims to defend the rights of the minority Sunni islamites and the Baluchi minority in Sistan-e-Balochistan province.
Past years various assaults and attacks were committed by Jundullah.
PressTV reported that Rigi is arrested on a flight from Dubai to Kyrgyzstan.

Channel4 has transcripted the interview with a former member of the Bassij about the violations last year against imprisoned protestors.

The blog Pedestrian refers to a video, with footage made by a member of the security of the violent attack on the university dorms last year.
The video is graphic.


Mehdi Karroubi made a call to the authorities to grant permission to organize a rally "based on the article 27 of the Constitution in one of the squares of Tehran so that we can see the minority and the majority".
The second suggestion is organising a referendum based on the article 59 of the Constitution to solve this crisis and end the reign of the Guardian Council.

Human Rights Watch said February 23 that the Iranian government has to stop the persecution and arbitrarily detaining members of the Baha'i community.
February 10 and 11 are 13 Bahais arrested and in January were also 13 members arrested.
Since October are in Tehran, Mashhad, Sari, Semnan, Yazd, 47 Bahai's arrested.
The trial of the May 2009 arrested seven Bahaileaders has been postponed to April 10.
The names of the 11 February arrested Bahais:
Taraneh Ghanouni, Naghmeh Ghanouni, Shaida Yousefi, Aria Shadmehr, and Riaz Firouzmandi.
February 10 were arrested: Alaeddin Khanjani, Ashkan Bassari, Maria Ehsan Jafar, Bashir Ehsani, Romina Zabihiyan, Houtan Sistani, Simin Ghaffari, and Pedram Sanaei.
January 3: Mehran Rowhani, Farid Rowhani, Babak Mobasher, Leva Mobasher Khanjani, Payam Fanaian, Jinous Ghazanfari Sobhani, Artin Ghazanfari, Nikav Hoveydaei, Ebrahim Shadmehr, Zavosh Shadmehr, Negar Sabet, Mona Hoveydaei Misaghi, and Nasim Beiglari.
Negar Sabet, Mona Misaghi, and Nasim Beiglari were released Januari 3, but Mona Misaghi is on 10 february arrested again.
The seven Bahaileaders are: Fariba Kamalabadi, Jamaloddin Khanjani, Afif Naeimi, Saeid Rezaie, Mahvash Sabet, Behrouz Tavakkoli, and Vahid Tizfahm.

Saturday February 20, are 3 men hanged.
Newspaper Kayhan writes that two men, Abdollah A. (43) and Mehdi S. (36) were hanged in the prison of Isfahan.
They were convicted for drugstrafficking.
In the prison of Zahedan is February 20 Dadollah Moradzadeh hanged.

In Ahwaz, Khuzestan province, 38 people have been executed in the past 11 months.
Only 14 executions were reported in Ahvaz by the official Iranian media.
The vice-prosecutor in Ahwaz, Ahmadreza Rashidi, told newsagency Mehrnews that 4 sentences of amputations have been carried out.

In Gohardasht prison in Karaj is Yavar Khodadoost murdered under duration of torture by Kermani and Faraji (director and vice-director of the prison’s Intelligence division).
His body is transferred to the morgue.
Yavar and his brother Latif were being held in hall 3 of ward 1 of Gohardashtprison before being transferred to solitary confinement cells in hall 2 (also known as the “doghouse” for its inhuman conditions).

Mansour Osanloo has been assaulted today in Rajai-Shahr prison by an inmate who is said to be a former IRGC member.
According to HRDAI, was Osanloo attacked from behind with a knife while he was talking to friends in the courtyard.
The friends saved him and took him inside.
The attack happened in front of prison guards Hasanpour and Moradi.
This was not the first time that the unionleader was assaulted.

The deathsentence of Adnan Hasanpour is in appeal reduced by the Supreme Court to a 31 year prisonsentence.
Although he has received verbal notice of his new sentence a week ago,the Judiciary has yet to issue a written confirmation of the sentence reduction.

Iran: relatives

The political prisoners of Gohardasht prison in Karaj wrote an open letter saying that the regime once again showed its true face February 11 by preventing people to demonstrate peacefully for their freedom.

Safoura Tofangchi and her husband Abolhasan Darolshafayi are arrested February 10, after being summoned by the ministry from information . Their two daughters,Banafsheh and Jamileh were arrested a coupoe of days before.
His nephew Yashar Darolshafa was arrested February 3 and is in Evinprison.
One day after his arrest, his mother Touran Kabiri and his brother Kaveh were arrested, but they were released the next day.
According to Bahman Darolshafayi a brother of the arrested girls are Touran Kabiri and her son Kaveh arrested again at 10 february.
Bahman Darolshafayi wrote in his blog that his father phoned from Evin on Friday and asked him to hire a lawyer.
All seven familymembers are currently in Evinprison.

Human Rights and Democracy Activists in Iran report that in Qom and Semnan agents of the ministry of information searched the houses of the Nabavi family and Mehri Nabavi in Qom and Seyyed Zohour Nabavi in Semnan were arrested. They were put in solitary detention in athe prison of the ministry of information in Evinprison.
Seyyed Zohour Nabavi was a political prisoner in the 1980s. He was sentenced to four years in prison for articles he wrote for Sarzamin-e Ariyayee Magazine.
Mehri Nabavi is the wife of Ali Nabavi who was arrested already.
Three other members of Nabavifamily were interrogated for 12 hrs.
Atefeh Nabavi and Seyyed Zia Nabavi are detained in Evin prison.
During past months were many members of Nabavi-family from Tehran, Qum and Semnan arrested and some are released on bail and others are under strong suspicion.
HRDAI condems these and other things that happenee around February 11 in Tehran.v

Iran: occurrences


Amnesty International said in an analysis paper prepared ahead of a review of Iran by the United Nations Human Rights Council that the Iranian view of the state of human rights in the country is severely distorted.
The U.N. Human Rights Council’s Working Group will evaluate Iran’s human rights record on February 15. .

Voice of America interviewed Karroubi's son who told what happened February 11. Karroubi was attacked by plainclothed people who started to beat him and he was sprayed by teargas. Another son and several of Karroubi’s assistants were also arrested. They were asked to stop cooperating with Mr. Karoubi.

Aliaskar Ravanbakhsh and his wife Zoleikh were allowed on temporary leave from prison for respectively 5 and 10 days.
Rouhiyah Yazdani(Baghaee) is allowed a 5 day leave also.
Shahram Afshar and Payman Nakhli, businessmen from Mashahr were told by city’s municipal authorities to close down their businesses.
February 1, the house of Payam Vali was searched and he was arrested.
The 7 Bahaileaders appeared after almost 2 years before a closed door court hearing.
The legal status of the Baha’is arrested after the Ashura protests remains uncertain.
Vahid Esmailzadeh from Sari is released after paying bail.
Behnam and his brother Sohail Rohanifard are sentenced to 9 months in jail.
February 10 is Allaeddin Khanjani arrested after a raid on his house.
His father Jamaleddin is one of the 7 detained Bahaileaders.His daughter, Lava was arrested together with 12 other Bahai's January 3.
Ashkan Basri, Maria Jafari (Ehsani), Bashir Ehsani, Roumina Zabihian and Houtan Sistani were arrested for their alleged roles in the recent riots.
State television broadcasted a program called the Constitutional Monarchy Years ,dedicated to insulting the Baha’i faith and tampering with its history.

Unofficial counts put the number of arrested girls at 250.
The number of male arrested is much higher.
The authorities have yet to announce the total number of people arrested in Iran on 22bahman.
A report by eyewitnesses says that some Ashura detainees were released that night to make room for the people arrested on 22 Bahman.
Evin authorities began to release some prisoners, young girls for the most part, in the late hours of Thursday.
