Iran: more on April 30, 2012

Humanrightslawyer Mohammad Ali Dadkhah has been arrested on April 29 in Tehran. Reported is that when he was in court to defend his client, political prisoner Arzhang Davoudi, he was ordered arrested by Judge Salavati and transferred to Evin prison.
According to judge Salavati the Appeals Court confirmed the verdict against Dadkhah of 5 years in prison and he must be arrested.
Dadkhah was sentenced to 9 years in prison and a 10 year ban on practicing law in July 2011.

Majzoon Noor, a website affiliated to Nematollah Gonabadi Sufi Order,  wrote that Saturdaymorning  Mohammad Ali Shamshirzan has been  arrested in his workplace in Khavar. These arrests seem part of an ongoing campaign against the dervishes in Khavar
Till now 17 Gonabadi derwisjes are charged with “Corruption on earth,” Moharebeh (“Enmity against God”) and carrying illegal weapons. The first two charges are punishable by death.

Iran makes a priority of exploring new oil and gasfields along the country's border. Mehrnews wrote that last Iranian calendaryear even new formations of oil and natural gas were discovered in Iran.
The gasfields are found in Madar in Bushehr Province, the Khayyam layer and Farzad field in the Persian Gulf.De oilfields are the Soumar oilfield in province Kermanshah, Delavaran in province Ilam and a field in Khuzestan province.

This year also did the Tehran police start a crackdown against women who are improperly dressed.
The chief of police said that “thugs” disrupting public order and men “who bother other people’s daughters and wives” would also be confronted by officers.

Iran: more 29 April 2012

International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran said that Iranian government should immediately investigate and hold accountable those responsible for the numerous cases of border security forces killing couriers in the northwestern provinces of West Azerbaijan, Kurdistan, and Kermanshah.
ICHRI counted 74 deads and 76 injured between March and April 2012. All these people worked as kulbar, people  that carry illegally-imported goods, such as tobacco, electronics and tires on their backs and kasebkar, tradesmen who transport similar goods into larger towns.
These people live and work in the predominantly Kurdish northwestern border provinces of Iran.

The female political prisoners in Evinprison in Tehran are suffering from illness and are in poor health because of the bad food and hygienic conditions in prison. They suffer from kidney- and heartproblems, high bloodpressure and headaches.
In the store in the women’s ward is no more fruit, meat and other important food items.
It now has been two months that the female political prisoners have been deprived of fruits and vegetables. Their families were also disallowed to give personal hygiene items like shampoo and tooth brush to the prisoners.
Currently there are 26 female political prisoners.

Iran: letters

The Committee of Human Rights Reporters reports that childrens rights activist Moeen Ghamin on his way home from Mazandaran’s University of Science and Technology Monday was arrested.
Later 5 security agents searched Ghamins home. The reason for the arrest is not known.

In a letter to Tehran’s Chief Prosecutor retired university professor Mohammad Maleki wrote about his outrage over the arrest of ailing human rights activist Narges Mohammadi.
In this letter he warns Chief Prosecutor Abbas Jafari-Dolatabadi and Iran’s ruling elite to “be afraid of the people’s rage.”

Humanrights activist and graduate from Allameh Tabatabai University, member of the central committee of Tahkim-e Vahdat Alumni Student Association as well as the founder and the secretary of the Human Rights Committee of the Tahkim-e Vahdat alumni group Hassan Asadi Zeidabadi celebrated his 28th birthday on April 27 in Evinprison.
He is serving a prisonsentence of 5 years.His request for appeal has gone unanswered.

The website Iran Human Rights published the names or initials of the this week executed prisoners.
The initials of the five men who were hanged in the prison of Shahrud are: "M. M.", "S. P.", "A. S.", "M. B." (all Afghans) and "H. P.".
The eight prisoners who have been hanged in Rajaei Shahr prison in Karaj (west of Tehran) on April 25 were named: "Mohammad Shafi Heydari (33 afghaan), Hossein Bagheri (20), Mohammad Rezaei (60), Mohammad Jafghaei (42), Yadollah Kabiri (50), Abbas Beigi (38), Abolghasem Pourhasan (37) and Alireza Shokohi-Manesh (37).

Shirin Ebadi and human rights organizations are joining a call by the Iranian student association Daftar Tahkim Vahdat and alumni association Advar Tahkim Vahdat, in a new campaign for the release of imprisoned students in Iran.
Currently there are at least 31 students imprisoned in Iran.

Iran: more

April 25 were 5 men hanged in Shahroud Prison. Four of them were Afghan citizens and all were charged with storing large amounts of drugs..
Human Rights and Democracy Activists of Iran website reported that April 24 in Rejaishahr Prison in Karaj. 8 prisoners were hanged, one of them an Afghan.
Also on April 24 april another 2 prisoners, who had been transferred from Ghezel Hessar Prison to solitary confinement at Evin, were hanged at Evin.

The parents of detained student Javad Alikhani told International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran that prisonguards at Evin prison beat up their son.
They also were prevented from having an in-person visit.
Alikhani was arrested on May 28, 2010 and developed kidney and bladder problems in prison.Due to this his physical condition is deteriorating.

In response to the recent publications claiming that opposition leader Mehdi Karroubi was seen vacationing with his son in the city of Kashan, Fatemeh Karroubi, his wife, said that her sons did not see their father since the Persian NewYear.
Mehdi Karroubi was forced by security agents to go to Kashan without the knowledge of his family and without the presence of one of his sons.

Website Kaleme reports that Mir Hossein Mousavi and Zahra Rahnavard have once again been rendered incommunicado for the past two weeks.
After their last visit with their family during Persian New Year that lasted only a few hours and with the exception of two brief telephone conversations, the family has had no news of them what so ever.They are very concerned of  the well being of Mousavi.

Iranian Society for the Prevention of Cruelty Against Animals (SPCA) said that recently 20 dogs were arrested in Pardisan Park in Tehran.
The dogs were reportedly being walked by their owners when security forces took the canines away and transferred them to what appears to be a detention center.
The spokesman ofSPCA told Radio Farda that the dogs will likely be kept in the detention center for a while and then released after their owners sign a written document promising not to walk their dogs in public.

Iran has been forced to deploy more than half its fleet of supertankers to store oil at anchorage at Kharg Island in the Gulf, because of the sanctions.
Sources say that 14 of National Iranian Tanker Company's (NITC) fleet of 25 very large crude carriers, each loaded with about 2 million barrels of oil, are now at anchor acting as floating storage.
5 out of 9 Suezmaxtankers are also parked offshore with oil aboard.
That means that of Iran's 59-million-barrel fleet of VLCCs and Suezmax sized tankers, 33 million barrels of capacity are being used to store crude at sea in the Gulf, or 56 percent of the fleet.

April 21 is translator and ITspecialist Mohamad Soleimaninia transferred from Ward 209 to Ward 350 of Evin prison on the 17th day of his hungerstrike.
With this hungerstrike Soleimaninia protests his illegitimate arrest, his limbo status and harsh treatment and torture by interrogators.

Sweden plans to deport Iranian christian asylumseekers despite fears they may be jailed or even executed there. February 15 of this year Sweden deported Mohammad-Reza Hamedi. Currently are Mohammad-Ali Hodaei, Yasin Elyasi and Mohammad-Reza Hamedian Esfahani in a detentioncentre.
Alle are converted christians.
Mohabat News wrote that during the transfer of Mohammad Ali Hodaei to Iran were demonstrations, even in the airplane, so it was decided to remove Mr. Hodaei from the aircraft and return him to the border police's custody center.

Iran: Kurds

The Kurdish political prisoner Behrouz Alakhani, 26 is imprisoned 19 months in solitary detention and is in Orumieyah Detention Center.
A source told ICHRI that Alakjani has been sentenced to death for “cooperating with PJAK” and “participating in the murder of the Khoy Prosecutor.”
He refuted the charge of participating in the murder. The judge found the defendant guilty of ‘participating in the murder’ and issued a death sentence against him based only on his own understanding and knowledge and testimony of a friend of this political prisoner, who has described him as “worried and anxious” on the night of the murder.
Authorities have prohibited Alakhani from telephone contact with his family. It is also said that he is in dire condition and was detained in detentioncentra in Salmas, Khoy and Orumiyeh.During his detention he was tortured physically and mentally.

The Kurd Hossein Kamangar, a relative of executed teacher Farzad Kamangar, has in January 2012 been summoned to Kermanshah’s Intelligence Office Detention Center and was transferred to Dizelabad Prison.
Since then he is "in temporary detention", and has been under pressure to make confessions regarding cooperating with a Kurdish party.

Mehrnews reported that because of a computer virusattack on the computers of Iran's main oilterminals on Kharg island in the Gulf which handles 90% of the oiltransports of Iran, the terminals have been disconnected from the Internet since Sunday.
The websites of the Iranian oil ministry and the National Iranian Oil Company  were off-line for hours but late Monday, the ministry website was back up.
The spokesman of the Oilministry said to SHANA that contrary to initial reports in Iran, the virus had succeeded in wiping data off official servers.
The Oilminisrtry has set up a "cyber crisis committee".

The chairman of the U.S. Senate's Homeland Security Committee dismisses the Iranian claim that they reverse-engineered a RQ-170 Sentinel drone and begun building a copy.
In December 2011 the drone had crashed in Eastern-Iran.

The deputy head of now banned NGO Human Rights Defenders Centre and activist Nargess Mohammadi has been convicted to 6 years in prison and a travelban for abroad. Primary she was sentenced to 11 years in prison..
She had been charged with "assembly and collusion against national security, membership in the Human Rights Defenders Centre and propaganda activities against the Islamic Republic regime".

Iran: deceit

The UN added some names to the blacklist of people over their involvement in arms smuggling through Nigeria.
They were linked to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, their names are Azim Aghajani and Ali Akbar Tabatabaei, members of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Qods Force.Also the company Behineh Trading Co. has been added as “one of the two Iranian companies that played key roles in Iran’s illicit transfer of arms to West Africa.”

The secretary general of the Freedom Movement Ebrahim Yazdi, 81year-old has been summoned to Evinprison to serve his prisonterm.
He is convicted to eight years in prison on charges of "propaganda against the regime and assembly and collusion to disturb national security.”
He appelated against the verdict but was not given a chance to present his defence to the appellate court.

At a meeting with governors general in Iran president Ahmadinejad ordered to investigate why the foodprices have risen in recent weeks.
An official in Tehran said that a pasteurized milk company has violated rules by inflating the price of milk in Tehran and other cities in the country.The Governor of Tehran, General Mortza Tamadon said that 11 million tons of milk are produced in Iran so there is sufficient demand for prices to be kept steady.
The director of the Pak Pasteurized Milk Company however said that this figure was inaccurate and six million tons was nearer the true figure. Tamadon also said that 13 farmers from Tehran have been fined $1.3 million for selling milk at high prices.

PEN International’s Writers in Prison Committee has issued a statement, demanding the immediate release of imprisoned translator, author and editor of websute U24, Mohammad Soleimaninia.
He was arrested in January 2012 and kept incommunicado for 2 months.April 2 he started a hungerstrike to protest his situation.
Reporters Without Borders alse demanded his release on April 12.

In Qom is pro-opposition cleric Masoud Adib arrested.
Website Jaras reports that agents of Qom’s Intelligence Bureau arrested him on April 18. They searched his home and confiscated his personal belongings.
In 2009 he was arrested along with many others following the funeral of deceased Grand Ayatollah Montazeri.

Singer of protestsongs and director of Cultural Committee of the Human Rights Activists Group in Iran, Amir Ehsan Tehrani Sekhavat is imprisoned in Ward 350 of Evin prison in Tehran. He is convicted for membership of a humanrights organization and propagation against the establishment.
According to reports of Kalame he was arrested in March 2010 during the mass arrests of human rights activists in Iran. April 8, 2011 he was sentenced to one year in prison.

Iran: arrested

April 18 in the prison of Semnan  is a man hanged.
The man M. Gh was convicted for keeping 3 kilos and 984 grams of crack.
In the prison of Isfahan are two men hanged on April 19.
The not named men were convicted for keeping of respectively 710 grams and 628 grams of crack.
In the city of Marvdasht is one man hanged in public.The man, S. M. was convicted for rape, sodomy, kidnapping and murder.

In Brazil is an Iranian diplomat accused of molesting minor girls.
He was questioned by Brasilian police but released after invoking diplomatic immunity.
The not named diplomat was accused of inappropriately touching girls between 9 and 15 years old at a pool in a private club. The Iranian foreign ministry rejected the accusations.

During the weeks leading up to the April 15 anniversary of a 2005 protest and subsequent crackdown were according to the European Ahwazi Human Rights Organisation (EAHRO)  at least 26 people arrested in Ahwaz and surroundings by the Iranian authorities.
April 15, 2005 widespread demonstrations broke out in various neighborhoods of Ahwaz in protest against ethnic discrimination and government policies which lead to substantial dislocation of Arab-Iranians and impoverishment of local communities. At the time, Iranian authorities arrested hundreds of protestors, and since then they have responded to local grievances with a heavy-handed policy of repression.

Authorities say that Hossein Ronaghi Maleki is denied a medical leave unless he undersigns a confession.
Maleki has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for “membership in the Iran Proxy internet group,” “propagating against the regime,” “insulting the Supreme Leader,” and “insulting the President.” He is in very bad health and suffers from a kidney disease for which he has been operated twice already.

A report issued by the London-based International Centre for Development Studies confirmed that Iran is stealing large amounts of oil from neighboring Iraqi fields.
Iran steals oil for $17 billion worth of oilfields that are mostly Iraqi and not shared between the two countries.
The amount of oil Iran takes from Iraq is estimated on 130,000 barrels and mainly comes from four Iraqi fields: Dehloran, Naft Shahr, Beidar West, and Aban. It also extends to the fields of al-Tayeb and Fakka as well as parts of Majnoun field with an estimated 250,000 barrels.The total amount of oil Iran steals from Iraq is estimated at 14 percent of Iraqi oil revenue.

On the state tv website the commander of the Iranian groundtroups warned Thursday that Iran is ready for militairy actions if diplomacy fails on disputed Abu Musa.
It was the first time an Iranian military commander commented on the issue since President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad last week visited Abu Musa in Persian Gulf.

Iran: more

April 17 were in the prison of Zanjan 2 men hanged.
The not identified men were sentenced to death for keeping drugs.
Since April 9. at least 20 people have been executed in Iran, all on drugsrelated charges and all were not named.

Prime minister  Harper of Canada warned Iran that the world will judge if Canadian-Iranian Hamid Ghassemi-Shall will be executed.
He told reporters that Canadian officials have been working at all levels for some time obviously to urge for a judicial process and clemency in this case.

Persian Gulf Arab states say they stand united in a territorial dispute about Abu Musa and two other islands between Iran and the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.).
At a meeting in Doha, the Gulf Cooperation Council said any perceived aggression against the U.A.E. would be considered a threat to the entire bloc.
