Iran: sentence

In Iran is the third wife of a painter, who murdered her husband, sentenced to death on request of the other two women.
She stabbed the painter to death with a fruitknife during a dispute.

Three civil rights activists, Peyman Aref, Asal Esmaeilzadeh, and Sharar Konoon Tabrizi. were arrested at Behesht Zahra cemetery,where they were to pay their respects to Neda Agha Soltan.
The reason for their arrest is unknown. The three were transferred to a security policestation in Shahr-e Rey.

Mostafa Daneshjou, the lawyer of the Gonabadi derwishes, has been sentenced to 7 months in prison on charges of libel and disturbing public order.
He has been transferred from the prison in Sari to ward 209 of Evin prison.

Iran: arrest

Police in Mashhad arrested 19 men and women.
Khabar Online reports that the 10 men and 9 women were arrested at a party in an appartement. Police investigates the case.

The Appeals Court sentenced laboractivist Behnam Ebrahimzadeh to 5 years in prison after a lower court sentenced him sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Ebrahimzadeh was arrested more then 16 months ago and is incarcerated in Ward 350 of Evinprison under dire conditions.
Prisoners in Ward 350 have been deprived of taking warm water showers .

Branch 15 of the revolutionary court sentenced Isa Faridi to 5 years in prison, a fine of $40,000 and 30 lashes.
Faridi was arrested in June 2009 and released after 110 days with a bail of $310.000.

Eleven Afghan workers kidnapped, raped and murdered a childlaborer in the city of Karaj.
After an anonymous call the police found, except the body of the child, womens clothes, but they did not discover any other victim.
The arrested Afghans confessed to the crime.

October 12 is Bahaistudent Farnod Jahangiri expelled from Babolsar University in Mazandaran province.
Population of Combat against Education Discrimination (PCED), reported that Farnod Jahangiri studied English language and litterature at Babolsar university.
In recent months, Ruhollah Tashakor, Alborz Norani, Ava Tavakol, Mona Momeni, Arkideh Aghaie, Hananeh Kanaanie, Homan Rahmanian and Malika Vazirzadeh were expelled from universities in Iran.

Iran: pronounced

Wednesday Saeed Malekpour is sentenced to death by Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court with an additional prisonsentence of 7,5 years.
A reliable source reported to HRHI that this last court session took place in a very speedy manner.
Saeed Malekpour is an IT-specialist who lives and studies in Canada and was arrested in 2008 while visiting his sick father. He spent a year in solitary confinement, after that he was transferred to ward 350 and after that to ward 205A, of the Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC)., where he spent the last 9 months.
He has been charged of “management of pornographic sites, insulting the clergy, insulting the leadership, insulting the president, affiliation with anti-government groups, and corruption on earth.”

Iran: more

In Gharchak is October 26 a man hanged in public.
Fars newsagency reported that the man, Bakhshali Asgari, 29 was convicted for murdering a 9-year-old girl and her grandmother, sexual abuse of the girl and stealing the woman’s jewelry in 2009.
Before he was hanged his sentence of 74 lashes was implemented in the prison yesterday.

In the prison of Bushehr is monday a man hanged.
The man, Ali Rafiipour was convicted of murdering a member of the policeforces in 2004.
The mother, father and two daughters of the victim were present at the execution. The other defendant was forgiven by the victim’s family at the last moment.

Members of Parliament called on the United Kingdom, European Union and the United States to protect the citizens of Camp Ashraf in Iraq.
In Camp Ashraf live 3,400 members of Iran’s main opposition group the People’s Mujahedin Organization of Iran, MKO.

According to ISNA is a man, A.B , lashed in public in Bandar Abbas.
The man was sentenced to 110 lashes for robbery under harrasment.

Imprisoned reformist leader Mostafa Tajzadeh says that the ruling elite in Iran will retreat sooner then expected.
He called on the Iranian people to show their protest against the ongoing house-arrest of opposition leaders Mir Hossein Mousavi and Mahdi Karroubi and to show solidarity with the country’s countless political prisoners by fasting on the first Monday of every month.
Last week Tajzadeh accused in a letter to the Supreme Leader the Iranian state of imprisoning those providing financial assistance to families of political prisoners. He also accused the regime of trying to “systematically” destroy the livelihoods of families of dissidents in jail.
Tajzadeh, a senior member of the Mujahedin of the Islam Revolution Organisation (MIRO), is currently in solitary confinement in Evin prison.

Detained Abdollah Momeni is interrogated again, after the letter he wrote to the Supreme Leader.
In this letter he wrote about the tortures he had suffered during his interrogations. After this letter another court dossier was created for him.
Under Islamic Law it is illegal to interrogate a prisoner who has already been handed down his verdict and is serving his sentence.

The Appeals court has upheld the prison-sentence of the political prisoner Fereydoon Seidi-Rad. Seidi-Rad was among many citizens arrested on Februry 14, 2010.
He has been sentenced to 3 years in jail.
Contrary to other that day arrested citizens Seidi-Rad was detained in ward 290 until he was transferred to ward 350 of Evinprison.

October 24 were 3 prisoners hanged in Iran.
IRNA reported that in Ardebil one man has been hanged for carrying and selling of 488,25 grams heroin.
Fars reported that in the prison of Jam a man Ali Rafeipour has been hanged. He was convicted for the murder of a securityofficer in 2003. How old he was at the time of the offence is not mentioned.
The Deutsche Welle quoted Fars that reported that in Khoramdareh a man has been hanged.
The man, R. Sh. was sentenced to death for murdering a securityguard on October 8th.

The Iranian parliament impeached the economy minister for lax at the investigation of the bankscandal.
He has to appear before parliament within 10 days.

Prisonauthorities told the father of Zanyar Moradi, a Kurdish political prisoner who is sentenced to death, and is detained in Rajaei Shahr prison that he would not need the clothes because his son will be executed before winter.
According to them the verdict has been upheld in appeal. Neither his son or his lawyer are informed.

At arrival in prison he was was transferred 2 days to the prison’s Quarantine Ward, before being transferred to Ward 2 of Mati Kola prison, where murderers and dangerous criminals are held.

Womens rightactivist Maryam Ghorbanifar is according to HRHI sentenced to 3 year's in prison for acting against national security, gathering and conspiracy against the regime.
She had been arrested in February, but was later released on bail.

The health of detained Iraqi lawyer Hassan Abdul-Hassan Tafah, 82 is deteriorating and he is in critical condition.
In 2008 he was sentenced to 15 years in prison on charges of spying and he is detained in Ward 4, Hall 12 in Rajai-Shahr Prison.
He suffers from a number of medical problems including anemia, low blood pressure, kidney and prostate diseases.

International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran reported Friday that in Vakilabad prison in Mashhad another 14 prisoners have been hanged in secret.
August 11 were 7 people hanged and September 20 were also 7 people hanged.
A source said that all those executed were convicted on drugsrelated charges.

The Iranian Minister of Communications and Information Technology, answered to questions of a Farsreporter if using VPN's was illegal in Iran, that proxies are banned in Iran and that using them is a crime according to the Computer Crimes Laws.

Detained lawyer and humanrightsactivist Nasrin Sotoudeh has been denied visits for refusing to wear the chador (long open cloak worn by Iranian women on top of their hijab). She says that it is a violation of her rights.
Last month the Iranian Judiciary announced that the requirement for women to wear the chador in court had been annulled.
Nasrin Sotoudeh is member of Defenders of Human Rights, One Million Signatures Campaign to Change Discriminatory Laws Against Women, and Society for Protecting the Rights of the Child.She has been convicted in appeal to 6 years in prison and a ban to be a lawyers for 10 years.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that Meysam Roustaei a conscript at Iranian police died September 22, not from suicide, but from beatings.
That day he was summoned to report at the commander.Op die dag was hij gesommeerd bij de commandant te komen. His fellow conscripts report to his family that their son had been taken to solitary confinement as a form of punishment.
