Iran: again

The Iranian lawyer representing the two Americans, Masoud Shafii said in an interview that he might resign as defense lawyer for the two men if he is not granted access to his clients in jail. The trial was held behind closed doors so he was barred, but PressTV was allowed to be present. Also after February 6th he was not allowed to visit his clients.

Following the February 14th and February 20th events were the students Milad Taheri, Danial Zargarian, Mohsen Barzegar, Iman Sadighi, Sarah Bagheri, Ali Yazdanpanah, Hossein Zamen-Zarabi, Ramtin Meghdadi en anderen arrested.
The sentence of 7 years in prison of Ehsan Abdeh-Tabrizi is in appeal reduced to 5 years in prison. He has been in prison for 14 months. He is sentenced for insulting the Supreme Leader, assembly and conspiracy.
Mohammad Nourizad and Abdollah Ramazanzadeh are called back to prison, after being released on bail.Ramanzadeh was sentenced to 6 years in prison. He was told that he had to give a public interview and issue an announcement condemning the February 14 protests and the Islamic Iran Participation Front or return to prison.
The journalist and filmmaker Nourizad also had to return to prison.
Arrested student at Sharifuniversity Hossein Salemkar was allowed to have a telephone conversation with his family , but he was not allowed to reveal his whereabouts.His family was told that the name of their son is not included the list of the 654 Evin Prison detainees.

Only three days after Hashemi Rafsanjani's daughter Faezeh Rafsanjani was insulted by plainclothes agents and his grandchildren taser attacked, was his nephew Nasser Hashemi attacked by plainclothed agents and severely beaten so that he was admitted in the hospital..

Iran: unknown


The International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran calls for the immediate release of Mehdi Karroubi and Mir Hossein Mousavi and their wives who have been removed to an unknown location, a socalled "safe house" at an unknown location.
International law says their holding is a forced disappearance.
The head of the National Security Commission says there is no housarrest imposed on the oppositionleaders, they were just being escorted by government security forces.
Meanwhile Tehran has been reportedly overrun with security forces.
Friday said the hardliner Ayatollah Emami Kashani during Fridayprayers that anyone who stands against the Revolution will be destroyed.

February 24 is student Zia Nabavi transferred from the prison in Ahwaz to an unknown location. Nabavi is the spokesman of Council to Defend the Right to Education.

February 13th are in various towns and cities from Iran 45 christians "temporarily detained".
At least 30 of them remain in prison, although there are reports that others were released. Humanrightsactivists see the wave of arrests and temporary detentions appear to be part of the government’s alleged wider crackdown on minority Christians and other non-Muslim religious groups.

USA is quietly lobbying to establish a United Nations special investigator on human rights abuses in Iran. This is the first time in a decade.
The EU supports the move, in view of persecution of human rights defenders in Iran and the sharp rise in the number of executions since the start of the year.
But Iran and its allies are expected to denounce the resolution and demand it be put to a vote rather than be adopted by consensus.

Iran: more

Hassan Younesi the son of former Minister of Information during the Khatami presidency was arrested February 20th. He is detained in ward 209 of Evinprison.
Mehdi Tahaghoghi and Ahmad Hashemi, members of reformist party Mojahedin of the Islamic Revolution, were arrested and taken to an unknown location. Previously the members Ali Bagheri and Abdollah Nesseri were arrested.
De daughters of Hossein Mousavi and Zahra Rahnavard wrote a letter in which they tell that they since their last telephonic conversation with their parents on February 14th, visited the house daily, to ask information.
They have experience nothing but insults, aggressiveness, profanities and defiance, but no information.
The mother of blogger HosseinRonaghi Maleki is summoned by the Ministry of Information. February 20th were also 4 students of Mir KabirUniversity arrested, named Mohammad Ehsan Moezi, Farshad Mousavi, Fojan Shafaei en Mehrdad Farnoosh.
Also Abdollah Sadri, facultymember of the university is arrested. Nothing is known about their whereabouts.

The Iranian Minister of Information said on Iranian Statetelevision that February 14th an armed man was arrested who was on a mission to kill during last week’s protests.
He also said that an individual with ties to the CIA was arrested ,who wanted to setup a network. It wasn’t clear if the two were the same person.
It was expected that he might announce the formal arrests of opposition leaders Mir Hossein Musavi and Mehdi Karrubi, but he didn't.
Instead he spoke of two aides of them Amir Arjomand and Mojtaba Vahedi,who he accused of having ties with the MKO and contacts with foreigners.

Moslem Isapour and Ardalan Hatemi were from Kurdish origin and convicted for drugstrafficking and Peyman Ghane, from Iranian Azarbaijan, was convicted for kidnapping.

The son of the former governor of Gorgan, Mohammad Hossein Mahimani, lawstudent at Azad University and photojournalist, who was arrested February 11 in Gorgan went in hungerstrike.
He has not been able to contact his family since and was prevented a visit from his lawyer.

Iran: more arrests

The houses of Mehdi Karroubi and his family were searched by security agents and documents were confiscated.
His son Ali has been arrested.

The spokesman for the campaign campagne 2009 in Gorgan Hassan Rezaei, has been arrested February 20. The reason is unknown.
The students Ali Zavar-Kabeh, Ali Razaghi and Ali Saberi have been arrested. There has been no information for the reason for this arrest.
In Sari is Bahai Behzad Zahifi arrested after being summoned by the Ministry of Information.
His house was searched and books, cd's and computer related to Bahaifaith were confiscated.
Studentactivists Ali Yazdanpanah and Sara Bagheri were arrested February 20 exiting Noushiravani University of Technology.
Iman Sadighi, the political secretary of Islamic Student Association of Noushiravani University of Technology, is also arrested February 20.
Several activists of Yasouij university were summoned and arrested. Dariush Jalali who had been suspended from education since November, is transferred to the Ministry of Information.
He is tortured and interrogated along with previous arrested Vahid Rafaei.
Hajiali Kamali and Ahmad Naraki were released after their arrest.

Iran: arrests go on

Two Iranian warvessels have entered the Suez Canal on their way to the Mediterranian. Iran says they're on their way to Syria.
This is the first time since Iran's 1979 Islamic Revolution that Iranian warships have passed through the Suez Canal.

Februari 20th were 4 students Ali Manosuri, Mohammad Hormozzadeh, Ehsan Kouhkar and Mohamamd Ghafarin at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad arrested and brought to an unknown place.

The student Alborz Almasi who was arrested in 2009 at Ashura, is sentenced to 9 months in prison and 74 lashes for disturbing public order.

Mohammad Ali Malekian, a member of Mazandaran Commerce Room is arrested. He was a member of Mousavi's campaign in Amol in 2009. A reason for his arrest was not given.
Ali Hossein-Doust Taleshani another member of the Campaign was sentenced to 3 years in prison on charges of insulting the Supreme Leader and acting against national security.
February 15 is singer and composer Afshin Tahari arrested. He is held incommunicado and his family is very worried.
February 20 were 2 Green Movement supporters, Jafar Ganji and Arash Najbaei, arrested.
They are held incommunicado and their family has no knowledge about their whereabouts.

February 20 two men were hanged in Isfahan.
The men, Ramezan J and Nesar M. were sentenced to death convicted of keeping one kilo and 967 grams of heroin.

The Iranian human rights lawyer Shadi Sadr told International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran that least 3 people who participated in the 14 February protests said that the teargas used against the protesters was different from that used previously.
According to the three individuals, they suffered symptoms such as severe nausea, vomiting blood, and loss of voice and their symptoms have not yet subsided.

Iran: protests

At the protests of February 14th, were at least 13 students from Babol arrested.
Some persons were transferred to Mati Kala Prison and Quarantaine Ward.
Two of them are beneath the legal age, one is 17-year-old Ramtin Meghdadi.Reports are that many of them been beaten.
Many prisoners have been pardoned on the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution on February 11th.
Kianoush Kamrani, Arsalan Abadi and some other prisoners were not released despite the fact that their families were awaiting their release outside Evin.
Authorities did not release them because of the February 14th protests.
The former member of Khajeh Nasir University Islamic Student Association and student at Sharif university Hossein Kamkar has been arrested February 15th.

According to IRNA in recent days 4 people were hanged in the prison of Kerman.
The men, AKbar M. convicted of keeping and smugling of 560 grams of heroin, Saeed J for keeping and smuggling heroin, Zaher G. for trafficking 930 grams opium and 10 kilos and 750 grams of crack, and Khodabakhsh A. convicted of trafficking and keeping 470 grams of heroin.
The executions were not confirmed by independent sources.

In Khuzestan were several Arab activists arrested and transferred to Khalafabad prison.
Abdolkaram Asakareh, chemistry teacher with a Masters in sociology, Hashei Shabani, Arabic teacher with a Masters in political science, Mohammad Ali Omouri, engineer, Shahid Omouri, poet, Aghil Aghili, computer expert, and Abdolamir Omouri, brother of Mohammad Ali Omouri, were arrested by security agents with no judicial warrant and no charges after searching their house.

The family of the shot Saneh Jaleh is under heavy pressure of authorities. A friend of Jaleh told that the wife of Jaleh’s cousin, who is a member of the Basij, is now answering the telephones inside Sane Jaleh’s family home in Paveh.Each time it is said that Ghane is free and well, but is unable to answer the phone.
A student, who requested anonymity for security reasons, told International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran that yesterday 4 of the arrested Art students were released. There is no news of the other arrested students’ conditions.
He also told that, because they were unable to hold the ceremony yesterday, they have postponed it until Saturday.
He expressed a word of gratitude for the University’s Security Unit as the only group of people who came to the students’ aid yesterday.

Iran: further

International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran reports that an anonymous group of hackers attacked government websites at the Foreign Ministry, the Atomic Energy Organization and the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting Organization in such a way that many of these websites became inaccessible by their visitors for more than a day.
The group, named “Operation Iran” (#OpIran), started the attack immediately after the peaceful protests of 14 February. The Supreme Leader’s website and the Iranian President’s website faced disrupted service for several hours after they were attacked by the group.

Iran: after the demonstration

During the protests of 14 February were at least 16 students of Sharifuniversity arrested.
Their names are:
Amin Mahdavi, Shaghayegh Heirani, Farzaneh Karami, Puria Naderi, Saman Rehat, Mohammad Naraghi, Mohammad Salahshur, Aref Bolandnazar, Siavash Jabarian.
At her workplace was student Shima Vozarai arrested.
Nader Rezaei, Ali Akbar Mohammad-zadeh, Javad Sohankar, Ali Morshedlu, Amirhushang Navaei, and Mohammad Afkhami were arrested at the main entrance of the university.
They were brought to an unknown location.

Ghaneh Jaleh, the brother of the shot Kurdish student Saneh Jaleh is arrested after he contradicted in an interview with VOA the government run media and had stated that his brother is not a member of the Basij. Saneh Jaleh was a Kurdish student who studied art.

During the funeral ceremony of Saneh Jaleh today were a large number of students arrested.
Their names are:

2 men have been hanged in the prison of Sanandaj.
According to the website of the Kurdish judiciary, the men, M. H. and Kh. R. were convicted for drugstrafficking.

The identitity of the men who were shot dead under yesterday’s pro-democracy protests in Tehran, was revealed.
Human Rights Activists News Agency" HRANA, and several reliable sources report that Sani Jaleh (26) artstudent was shot in Tohidstreet in Tehran.
Mohammad Mokhtari 22 was shot and died in the hospital.
Authoritieis say that Jaleh was a member of the paramilitary Bassij, shot by demonstrators.
His friends deny this vehemently.
According to IRNA Tehran policecommander Rahan said that the Mujahedeen Khalq, PMOI(MEK), shot at the police, but he did not provide any evidence to back up his claim.
The French-based National Council of Resistance in Iran, who acts for the MEK, rejects the accusations.At least 150 people were arrested.

Iranian parliament yesterday shouted for the deathpenalty for Mousavi en Karroubi.
221 members of parliament undersigned a statement saying that the two men should be put on trial and face hanging.
