In the city of Kerman is a man hanged in public.
The man, Ramezan Ebrahimi was accused of of taking part in armed clashes with state security forces.







Human Rights Watch called Iran to release the arrested teachers.
Also they ask the Iranian authorities to immediately lift the ban on the Hamedan Teachers Association.
April 7, security forces in the city of Hamedan arrested 33 teachers after the weekly meeting of the Hamedan Teachers Association. Later that evening, security forces went to the homes of 12 other Association teachers and arrested them at their residences. The detainees included the entire governing board of the Hamedan Teachers Association.
Tuesday, the spokesperson of the Iranian Judiciary, Alireza Jamshidi, told that the Iranian Government had banned the Hamedan Teachers Association and that the teachers were arrested as a result of continuing their activities with the Association.
Eventually 30 of the teachers got freed.
Nine of them stayed detaineed.



Article 26 of the Iranian Constitution guarantees citizens the right of forming professional associations.
Article 27 states that peaceful gatherings may be freely held.





Since beginning of March, teachers from entire Iran are protesting in peaceful demonstrations to call for equity in pay and benefits with other governmental employees.

Iran: names and places

The French academic who could not leave Iran, got his passport back.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini said that Stephane Dudoignon got his passport back and Friday will leave the country.
In January the authorities took the Frenchman's passport while he was photographing an Ashura-rite in Sistan-e-Baluchestan.


An American, living in Iran says he met Robert Levinson shortly before his disappearance on the island Kish.
According to Dawud Salahuddin alias David Belfield alias Hassan Abdulrahman, an American who converted to Islam, who fled to Iran after killing an Iranian opposition-activist in 1980,
he met Robert Levinson during an investigation about cigarettesmuggle, done by Stevenson for his former employer, the FBI.


On the border between Pakistan and Iran are four bandits and a border security official killed during a police-raid.
Three others were arrested.
The operation was carried out by Pakistan policecommandos and paramilitary troops near Baksar Talmub village, 550 kilometers west of Quetta.
Presstv also reports that the Pakistan police chief said that the criminals were involved in murder, robbery, carjacking and attacking forces in Iran and Pakistan.
According to Tariq Khosa, police chief in Baluchestan, the bandits were members of terrorist group Jundallah.

Iran: provinces

Hadi Seyid Javad Musevi, an Azeri-activist for Southern Azerbaijan National Awakening Movement, arrested by Azerbaijan police, will today be extradited to Iran.
Musevi fled Iran after his release after arrestation for participating on the rally to Babek Tower in July 2004.





The three-year exile on Abbas Lisani, a Azeri right activist has been lifted.
A trial will be held on May 17 in Tabriz City Court.
His wife told that he will be released in 9 months, if he is not sent for a new sentence term.
In November 2006 Lisani got arrested with the charges of subversive activity against Iranian state system and propagating separatism .





The newspaper Kayhan reports that Iran arrested 90 members of the Jondallahgroup.
According to Intelligence Minister Gholam-Hossein Mohseni Ejeie there were also big amounts of weapons and explosives confiscated.


According to the same newspaper were 10 days ago, also 7 people arrested in Khuzestan who wanted to carry out several bomb attacks.

Iran: increase

A spokesman from Iranian police announced some 128,500 smugglers were arrested in the last Iranian year (ended March 20, 2007).
Deputy Police Chief for Operations Second Brigadier Eskandar Momeni said that this is an 11% increase compared to its previous year.
In most cases it concerned drugstraffickers and about 290,500 addicts were also arrested last year.


UN has expressed her deep concern about the arrests of five woman's rightsactivists of which Nahid Keshavarz en Mahboubeh Hoseinzadeh are still in prison.
They note an increase in actions against woman's rights defenders
and they call Iran to abide its obligations under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.





Past weekend a huge spamrun was made in which a trojan was hidden.
The mail came under different subjects as "Missile Strike: The USA kills more then 20000 Iranian citizens," "USA Declares War on Iran" en "USA Just Have Started World War III," .
In the clickable attachment with names as video.exe and readme.exe was the hidden trojan "Storm Trojan".
The malware did also spread through blogs.

Iran: target

A mine-explosion in Ilam made 5 victims. One of the victims was killed on the spot, the others were taken to hospital.
There are many remains from Iraq/Iranwar in Ilam.Officials think that in Ilam province the total injested area is 1.7 mln hectares.
According to statistics, 2000 people have been injured or killed by mineexplosions in Ilam.



The website Aftab reports that yesterday during the weekly meeting of teachers in Hamedan, 45 teachers have been arrested.
Teachers announced a sit-in demonstration at schools for April 16 an 17 to underline their demands.
Also they declared that if their demands are not met by May 2 (international “Teachers Day”) they will first demonstrate outside of their local offices of Ministry of Education in various cities and eventually they will have a gathering outside the parliament.



Reconstruction of decimated houses in the city of Bam will come to an end by mid-July.
Approximately a total of 50.000 houses were destroyed. Housing Foundation of Islamic Revolution official Azizollah Mahdian said that operations in the rural parts have already finished.

He added that the foundation is also building more houses in the city.
According to the official the aim of the foundation is to build 26,000 residential units, of which 21,255 are now ready.

Iran: straight ahead

At least 26 people were killed at an accident with a bus on the highway linking Ilam to Kermanshah.
A truck strayed into oncoming traffic, collided with the bus and causing the bus falling from a bridge. Eight persons were killed immediately, 18 others died of severe injuries in the hospital.

Mohammad Majid Ashaykh said in an interview that the refusal of letting Iraqi prime-minister Nouri Al-Maliki's plane crossing Iranian airspace was based on the fact that the Iranians didn't know he was aboard.
He said that because the Iraqi officials had not coordinated the issue and further the Iranian aviation was not assured whether the plane carried the prime minister, it was refused.
He added that the decision was based on international aviation rules.


Families of five Iranian diplomats arrested on January 11 by Americans in Iraq met with a representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross(ICRC).
They asked if the ICRC to play a more active role in alleviating their concerns. They also asked for video footage of the detained diplomats to reduce their concerns.
January, the diplomats were arrested in Arbil by the Americans accusing them of being members of Iranian intelligence.
Iran always denied the allegations.

Iran: lingering

Iran is about to send 1 million Afghans home.
PressTV reported that the refugees have already been told to get themselves and their possessions ready to move out in the near future.

Interior Minister Mostafa Purmohammadi said that repatriation had been stalled by winter weather and budget limitations.
Every "illegal" Afghan immigrant gets about $100 for their trip home, a policy that will cost Iran about $21.6 million.


The Iranian authorities try to discover what has happened to Robert Levinson.

On April 2, a large quantity of bootlegged alcohol was distributed in the city and a number of drinkers were hospitalised.

Human Rights Watch says that the Iranian government should immediately release two women�s rights activists arrested on April 1.
April 1, five women's rights activists who were planning to gather signatures for the One Million Signatures Campaign got arrested in Laleh Park, Tehran.
Mahboubeh Hosseinzadeh, Nahid Keshavarz, Saideh Amin, Sarah Imanian and Imanian's husband, Homayoun Nami got arrested April 1
and April 3 transferred to a Court.
Court officials then asked the detainees to sign a pledge to end their activities on behalf of the campaign.
Hosseinzadeh and Keshavarz refused.
Officials told them that their activities amounted to acting against Islam and the state and that they would be charged accordingly and taken to Evin Prison.
That afternoon, they released Amin, Imanian, and Nami.
They transferred Keshavarz and Hosseinzadeh to Evin prison.
Lawyers and familymembers were not allowed to contact them, also nobody at the court could, due to absence of the judge, officials advised them to return on Saturday, April 7.


During the past year, the Iranian government has intensified its persecution of women's rights advocates, especially those involved in the One Million Signatures Campaign.
March 4 were 34 womenactivists arrested, two of them spent more than two weeks in solitary confinement.
While all the women were eventually freed on bail, prosecutions against them are proceeding.
On April 4, authorities summoned Parastoo Dokoohaki, Sara Loghayee, and Saghi Loghayee to appear in court on Sunday, April 8.

Iran: tuck away

Human Rights Watch has called for the immediate release of six Ahwazi Arab refugees in Syria or "disclose a credible legal basis for detaining them".
There is great concern that the men will be forcibly returned to Iran, where they are at risk of persecution. One of the men has already been sentenced to death in absentia.
Their names are:
Afnan Azizi, 20, a civil engineering student in Damascus
Ahmad Asadi, 28, a student of Arabic literature at the University of Damascus
Ali Bouazar, 24, who fled to Syria after he was sentenced to death, he has been living in Syria since the end of December
Jaber Ebayat, 19, a sociology student at the University of Damascus
Kamal Naseri, 27, who had been living in Syria for eight months at the time of his arrest
Salahuddin Helali Majd, 23, a science student at the University of Damascus

Reports say that Ali Bouazar and Kamal Naseri already have been transferred to Iran.


Ali Farahbakhsh, the journalist who was arrested in November, accused of espionage, on returning from Bangkok to Tehran, is convicted March 26 to 3 years of prison and a huge fine.
During a Kafka treatment: article Inter Press News Agency (IPS) he finally was accused of taking 2,300dollar from "foreigners". This was, due to a typo, noted as 23,000dollar.
He was sentenced to pay 3 times this amount as a fine, meaning he is supposed to come up with 69,000 dollars, even though the judge had admitted that the number was a typo.
Dr. Hadi Ghaemi, a Middle East and North Africa expert at Human Rights Watch, told IPS that the persecution of Ali Farahbakhsh is just another example of the Iranian government's determination to isolate Iranian journalists and activists.


Reporters without Borders reports that nothing is heard since March 10 from two journalists.
Mansur Teyfuri of the weekly Ashiti, who was arrested in the Marivan region near the border with Iraq.
Mohamad Bagher Abassi Samali, the editor of the weekly Salam Jonob (Hello South), who was arrested in Bushehr after saying “even the Prophet of Islam could make mistakes.”
Several demonstrations have been staged outside his newspaper, which has been closed down since his arrest.

Relatives of missing American citizen Robert Levinson, 59, have expressed their great concern about his disappearance. March 11 he was last seen on the island Kish, where he had business to do.

According to USA, Iran said to investigate the disappearance.




ABCnews reported Wednesday , that CIA "hired" the Jondallahgroup to perform terroristic operations in Baluchestan, Iran.
Earlier, Voice of America (VOA) broadcasted an interview with Abdelmalik Rigi in which he stated being responsible for the operations and personally carried out executions.





Since January 2007, Iran is
withholding a French academic from leaving the country.

Historian Dudoignon is not arrested, but authorities took his passport and other belongings, so he is unable to leave the country.

Iran: determine

April 28 an exhibition of Delara Darabi's painting will be held in Amsterdam.
Delara Darabi is 20-years-old.
She is sentenced to death for a murder she allegedly committed when she was 17-years-old. She always denied committing this crime.
According to newspaper Etemaad(farsi), her file was transferred from the city of Rasht to Ayatollah Shahroudi, the head of judiciary of Islamic Republic of Iran.
If the verdict is approved by him she could be executed any moment.

Several weeks ago, a for privacyreasons not named american, got missing in Iran .
The man was in Iran on private business at the Kish island, province Hormuzgan, but since 11th March, nothing was heard of him.
Although the man is a retired FBI-agent, American authorities claim that his Iranian visit has nothing to do with his former profession.

The Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Line (IRISL)has published four historical maps, proving the authenticy of the name Persian Gulf.
The maps appear in the calendar of the Iranian New Year.
The first map is made in the 2nd century by Greek Claudius Ptolemaeus.
