Iran: prisoners

After Sundays execution of five people were in London and Paris protestdemos held at Iranian embassies.
At least 25 people were arrested. In Toronto and Washington are protests planned for today.
International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran condemns the executions.
The families and lawyers were not informed.
Currently are at least 16 Kurds and 11 post-election protestors sentenced to death.
They all are in imminent danger to be executed unannounced and sudden.
The sixteen other Kurdish prisoners are: Zeinab Jalilian, Habibollah Latifi, Shirkoo Moarefi, Hussein Khazri, Rostam Arkia, Mostafa Salimi, Anvar Rostami, Rashid Akhkandi, Mohammad Amin Agooshi, Ahmad Pooladkhani, Seyed Sami Husseini, Seyed Jamal Mohammadi, Hasan Talei, Iraj Mohammadi, Mohammad Amin Abdollahi and Ghader Mohammadzadeh.
The nine protestors are: Mohammad-Amin Valian, Jafar Kazemi, Mohammad Ali Aghaee, Abdolreza Ghanberi, Motahareh Bahrami, Mohsen Daneshpour, Ahmad Daneshpour, Rayhaneh Haj Ebrahim, Hadi Ghaemi.

The sentences of Feyzollah Arab-Sorkhi, Haleh Sahabi and Mehdi Kalari who are sentenced to six years in prison, two years in prison plus paying monetary fine, and three years in prison plus paying monetary fine, respectively, was upheld in appeal.

Davood Soleimani, Rasoul Baddaghi, Heshatollah Tabarzadi, Mehdi Mahmoodian, Reza Rafiee Forooshani and Isa Saharkhiz are reportedly transferred from Evin prison to Karaj’s Rajaie-Shahr prison and other prisons.

Iran: executions

Six men were in the Ghazal Hesar prison of Karaj near Tehran hanged Saturday.
They were sentenced to death for drugtrafficking. Their age is not known.
Their names are: Arsalan Asadi, son of Amanollah, Mohammad Ali Fakhri, son of Mohammad Hossein, Abbas Garavand son of Yousefbeik, Rahman Biabani son of Vali, Parviz Taghizadeh, son of Soleiman, Saeid Michaeili son of Rashid.

This morning have
Farzad Kamangar, Ali Heydarian, Farhad Vakilie, Shirin Alamhouli, and Mehdi Eslamian been hanged in Evinprison.
According to IRNA they all were involved at terroristic activities and bomb explosions. Four of them are from the Kurdish minority.
Farzad Kamangar was a Kurdish teacher and humanrightsactivist who was arrested in 2006 and was subject to torture and other mistreatment.In 2008 is he was sentenced to death along with Ali Heydarian and Farhaf Vakili during a trial that took only 7 minutes.
Shirin Alamhouli, 29, was arrested in 2007 and sentenced to death for moharebeh and membership of PEJAK in 2009.
Mehdi Eslamian was arrested in 2008 and sentenced to death for involvement in bombattacks and membership of the monarchistic Anjoman Padeshahigroup.

Iran: folly

In Tehran have 80 young boys and girls been arrested for participating in an illegal concert.They were charged with “participation in a ceremony filled with pleasure and fooling around.”
According to the Tehran prosecutor a number of people secretly organized a music concert and were charging people $30 to $35 to attend.The files for the 80 young girls and boys and the charges against five people who were selling the concert tickets have been forwarded to the office of the Tehran Prosecutor.

A humanrightsactivist told the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran that although journalist Mohammad Davari was in prison gone in temporary hungerstrike twice.
Despite this he is still mistreated and under heavy physical and psychological pressure to make forged confessions.
Continuation of these conditions would put the journalist in danger.
Until his arrest last September Davari served as a Chief of Staff of Mehdi Karroubi and chef-editor of Saham News.

Ahmad Zeidabadi's wife told that she is concerned about her husband’s health.
Zeidabadi is detained under very difficult conditions among dangerous common criminals in Rajaee Shahr prison in Karaj.
Although $500,000 bail is posted, he was not released and the money is still at the judiciary.
The conditions in Rajaee Shahr prison are very unhiegenic and bad.
January 2 Zeinabadi was sentenced to a prison term of 6 years,5 years in exile in Gonabadi and a longlife ban to work as a journalist.

Iran: sentence


Amnesty International urged Iran to immediately release humanrightslawyer Mohammad Olyaeifard who is detained May 1 to serve a 1 year prisonsentence on charge of "propaganda against the systeem".
His lawyers have not been informed of his sentence, in violation of Iranian law.
Olyaeifard is sentenced for giving an interview to the Persian Service of Voice of America, shortly after his client, juvenile offender Behnoud Shojaee, was hanged for a murder he committed when he was 17.
According to Amnesty this shows that the authorities are seeking to silence anyone who is criticizing them. Human rights organizations and their members, journalists, opposition figures, students and women's rights defenders have been targeted. It is now the turn of lawyers

After the surprise visit of Ahmadinejad to the University of Tehran and the protests of the students, were 30 students summoned the next day to the Investigation Office of the Ministry of Security for questioning.
There is no word on some of the students who were summoned to the Investigations Office, which has raised speculation that they may have been arrested.
May 1 is Maryam Abbasinejad, former member of the University of Tehran's Islamic union arrested.

Iran: honor

Persian2english writes about the account of a girl that was arrested in Februar, 22Bahman by the Bassij.





She was beaten up and blindfolded together with other women and girls taken to an unknown location where five or six men insulted them and said they would have sex with every girl at nights.
When they returned they took a girl with them. Then they took the witness and brought her to a room with men and got her forcefully undressed. They decided to use her for that night.
Eventually she escaped by writing a confession to everything they accused her of.
She was dictated by an older man who seemed to be the leader, and after that, she and the others were blindfolded and taken to Evinprison.

Hundreds of Afghans protested against the ill-treatment by the Iranian government.
The protest follows a recent visit by a delegation of Afghan MPs to Iran to assess the plight of one million Afghans who live in the country.
Some Afghan members of parlement say that 50 afghanen were executed by Iran in the past weeks.
But the Afghan foreign ministry spokesman said on Thursday that only six Afghans had been executed. However, between 4,000 and 5,000 Afghans were in Iranian jails.

Iran: further

The Kahrizakprison, which was closed last year after it got out that people in there were tortured, will be re-opened with a new name.
The name will be Shoroush 111.
This news brought great concern to many political and human rights activists.
The son of an influential hardline cleric, Mehdi Kazali, wrote an open letter which was also published on the reformist Kaleme site, questioning this.

The companies of the Guards replace European oil firms that have largely abandoned Iran, and received big contracts, in a no-bid procedure.
In the past, the role of IRGC in Iran's petrochemical sector was restricted to related projects, including building roads and canals.
But now IRGCaffiliated companies do the most oil projects, and they have taken the lead in key parts of the gigantic South Pars liquefied natural gas project, with Chinese companies.

Iran: mixed

Navid Khanjani, member of Population of Combat against Education Discrimination and CHRR, is after paying bail released May 3 from Evinprison.
Hij was arrested March 2 and transferred to the by IRGC controlled part of Evinprison.
Khanjani is a student and has been deprived from his right to study because of believing in Baha’i faith. Another detained Baha’i student in Evin who is deprived of his right to study is Ighan Shahidi.

Amnesty International calls for urgent action for Jafar Kazemi, who is sentenced to death. September 18, 2009 he was arrested during a demonstration. He is accused of participating in a protestdemonstration where 100.000 other people also participated and is not accused of any violent actions.
Hij is sentenced to death for moharebeh and propaganda against the regime. He was arrested together with at least another, Mohammad Ali Aghaii who is accused with similar charges, but it is not known whether he has been sentenced to death as well.
Reportedly Kazemi was strongly interrogated for months and he was under severe pression to make a televised confession.In the 1980's and 1990's he was arrested for MKOmembership and visiting Iraq. One of his sons lives in Camp Ashraf.
Other demonstrators who are sentenced to death and are in imminent danger of execution are: Amir Reza Arefi, Mohammad Amin Valian, Motahareh (Simin) Bahrami and her husband Mohsen Daneshpour Moghadam Ahmad Daneshpour, and Hadi Ghaemi and Reyhaneh Ghanbari.

May 2, National Teachers Day in Iran were several teachers arrested.
HRANA confirmed the arrest of Mohammad Taghi Fallahi, Iraj Javadi, Forghani, Mohammadi, Raeiszadeh, Ms. Barpar, Zeinalzadeh, Souri, Shivarani, Iman Zadeh, and Montajabi.
They were arrested paying tribute to the grave of 1-5-1961 killed Dr. Abol-Hassan Khan-Ali.
Reports say that last week also eight teachers were arrested.

They agreed the girls can wear caps that cover their hair but not their necks.

In 13 brands imported rice were high levels of arsen and lead found.
The deputy chairman of the Majlis Health Committee said that the contamination was found in the brands Aria, Shirkhan, Farhadjan, Kamalolmolki, Kimia, Gol-e Yas, and Hajimoradi.
There will be tests and the results of the tests will be sent to the Majlis, Health Ministry, Commerce Ministry, and Standard Organization so that the officials can make the final decision.

Iran: banned

Eight students of Yasouj University in the south-western city of Yasouj were banned for having attended post-election protests in November and December 7, 2009.
According to Daneshjoo News are the names of the banned students:
Amin Khosravi, banned for 2 semesters and required to change campus.
Daryush Jalali, banned for 2 semesters.
Ali Aminian,banned for one semester.
Sajjad Jafari, banned for one semester.
Farajollah Tavoosi, banned for onesemester,
Elham Salehi, Farhad Kooh-peyma and Mohammad Reza Mobaraki are each banned for one semester by a lower committee and awaiting their verdict.

Last week did several members of CHRR appear in court.
Saeed Jalali, has been charged with “propaganda against the regime and conspiracy and assembly with intent to disrupt national security”. Jalalili rejected all charges.
Shiva Nazar Ahari, Koohyar Goudarzi and Saeed Haeri were charged on similar offences.
April 27,Saeed Kalanaki en Ali Kalaei, two other members of CHRR appeared for the Revolutionary Court and the Evin magistrate court.
Since last year nine CHRR members have been arrested on different dates. Currently are Shiva Nazar Ahari, Koohyar Goodarzi and Navid Khanjani detained in Tehran’s Evin Prison.

Iran: sentences

Ali Nejati, the chairman of the council of Haft Tapeh Sugar Cane Company Workers’ Syndicate, who was sentenced to six months in Dezful prison for soliciting and defending the workers’ rights of Haft Tapeh Laborers,is summoned to appear May 19 at the Revolutionary Court of Shoosh.
His release is May 12.
He and his collegues , Fereydoun Nikfard, Jalil Ahmadi, Ghorban Alipour and Mohamad Heydari Mehr, were sentenced to 6 months in prison for propaganda against the regime and spreading false accusations.
Nejati has to defend himself again for the same charges although he had already served imprisonment terms accordingly.

International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran reports that again two postelection protestors are sentenced to death.An appeals court in Tehran upheld a death sentence for Jafar Kazemi and Mohammad Ali Haj Aghaee.
According to Iranian Judiciary officials, at least 11 protestors have been sentenced to death by lower courts, and the appeals courts appear to be confirming the majority of these sentences despite the absence of evidence against defendants.
The Campaign identified seven protestors on death row Mohammad Amin Valian 20, Abdolreza Ghanbari, 47, Motahareh Bahrami and Mohsen Daneshpour Moghaddam (husband and wife) and their son Ahmad Daneshpour, together with two of their friends, Rayhaneh Haj Ebrahim and Hadi Ghaemi.

Mansour Oslanloo, President of Syndicate of Workers of Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company (SWTSBC),is handcuffed and in shackles taken to the 6h investigative branch of the Karaj Revolutionary Court, where a new case was opened against him.
According to Human Rights and Democracy Activists in Iran (HRDAI), he is accused of having ties with enemies of the state in prison.

Ali Akbar Soroush is released on bail after 47 days of isolated detention.
Website Green-Voice writes that Dr. Ali Akbar Soroush is lecturer at the university and member of the central council of the reformist Participation Front in Mazandaran province.
He was arrested March 13.
