Iran: looks

Sunday April 15 were in Adelabad prison in Shiraz 8 men hanged.
According to state media the not named men were all convicted to death for drugsrelated crimes.
Fars newsagency says that this Iranian calendaryear tens of drug-convicted prisoners are scheduled to be executed in the province of Ardebil.
The chief prosecutor of Ardebil says that 85 drug traffickers were sentenced to death in the province of Ardebil last year (20. March 2011 to 20. March 2012), some of them were executed last year and the others will be executed this year.
In IHR's yearly report about the deathsentence in Iran, more then 80% of the executions is drugsrelated, but only 9% are named.

Reportedly Saeed Morrazavi returned to his position as head of the Social Security Fund.

Iran: furthermorr

Canadian-Iranian Hamid Ghassemi-Shall is in imminent danger of execution.
He has been sentenced to death on charges of espionage. In 2008 he was arrested while visiting his family and spent 18 months in isolation.
His brother Alborz Ghassemi-Shall was also arrested for espionage. He died in May 2010 in prison, according to officials he died from cancer.
In the summer of 2009 Hamid Ghasemi Shalil was sentenced to death for espionage and being a member of Mojahedin-e Khalgh Organisation. The Supreme Court upheld the sentence and officials told the family that the verdict was sent to the Office for the Implementation of Sentences.

The unionactivist Reza Shahabi has been sentenced to 6 years in prison and a ban of 5 years on all unionactivities. Shahabi is in a bad health.

Saeed Mortazavi resigned as head of the Social Security Fund.
In 2009 Mortazawi was Head Tehran Prosecutor and responsible for the killing of at least 3 prisoners and the torture and abuse of many others in Kahrizak Detention Center.
As result of the resign the Iranian parliament stopped the impeachmentprocedure against the Minister of Labor.

Iranian media report that companies from countries that are imposing sanctions on Iran are sending representatives to the 17th International Oil, Gas, Refining and Petrochemical Exhibition, which starts April 17.
IRNA reported April 15 that companies from the U.S., Germany, Britain, Italy have delegations and PressTv provided a longer list on April 12, adding companies from Austria, Spain, Switzerland, France, Finland, Canada, Romania and Norway as well as companies from Asia, South America and Africa.

Iran: rise

Agents of the Intelligence Ministry removed on Wednesday April 11, Kurdish political prisoner Habibolla Golparipour who is sentenced to death from his prisoncell and brought him to their office in the prison of Semnan and threathened to execute him.
Earlier his familymembers were denied of visiting him.
Details about him and other Kurdish prisoners are in this recently published report.

Iranian media report that in the past weeks, food and other consumer products have risen in price by as much as 20 percent in some cases.
The price of vegetable oil has gone up by 15 to 20 percent and cleaning detergent is at least 11 percent more expensive.
Mehr newsagency reported that the government had approved the increase in the price of vegetable oil and detergent, but milk and dairy products have gone up without government approval.

Iran: more

Nobel Peace Prize laureate Shirin Ebadi said that she opposes the economical sanctions because they have a tremendous impact on the daily life of Iranian population. She also says that the Iranian government was not correct in saying that its nuclear energy program was popular among Iranians.
Many people are concerned about environmental consequences of nuclear reactors, particularly in Iran’s earthquake zones.
There is no public discussion about this issue because the government had banned newspapers from reporting anything but the official position in recent years.

A plane on the route UAE - U.S. yesterday made an emergency landing at the international Imam Khomeini Airport in Tehran.One of the passengers on board of the Dubai-Seattle flight had a heart attack and therefore the plane landed in Tehran.
The 52-year-old man was bought to a hospital in Tehran.

Iranian private importers have bought about 50,000 tonnes of feed wheat, despite he economical sanctions. Food shipments are not targeted under Western sanctions aimed at Iran's disputed nuclear programme, but financial measures have frozen Iranian firms out of much of the global banking system, hindering grain buying.
This week Iran faced a shortage of feed for the huge livestock flocks as private importers have been unable to arrange large-scale payments.
Nevertheless, private buyers picked up two feed wheat consignments of 25,000 tonnes for prompt shipment this week.The origin of the grain was unclear, but it was thought likely to be shipped via a Black Sea port.

The physical and psychological health of journalist, former teacher and former editor of Saham News,Mohammad Davari, is deteriorating. An exorbitant bail collateral of $400.000 is set. His family is not able to raise this amount. He was arrested in 2009 after political opposition leader Mehdi Karroubi wrote a letter to head of the Council of Experts reporting the torture of political prisoners inside Kahrizak Detention Center.
Davani was sentenced to 5 years in jail, which was increased to 6 years because he was not able to pay a fine for a teachers protest he attended.

Iran: voices

Studentactivist Hossein Taheri has been arrested in his fathers house on March 10, according to website Jaras.
Since then he is in solitary confinement at Pelake Sad detention centre in Shiraz.
His father has been making regular visits to the city’s Revolutionary Court in order to obtain more information about his son’s detention,but in vain.

The Committee of Human Rights Reporters reported that Kouhiar Goudarzi was temporary released after paying $88,000 bail.
Goudarzi has been  sentenced to 5 years in prison and exile to the city of Zabol.

Iran: pressure

Reporters without Borders demands the immediate release of Mohammad Solimaninya, an internet and social network expert, who has been arrested 3 months ago and according to the information of RSF, is being pressured to work with the government on the creation of a “National Internet.”
He ran u24, a social networking website  that had  thousands of users. He also created and hosted the websites of many Iranian civil society organizations, NGOs and others. Currently he is detained in ward 209 of Evinprison.

The activist and member of National Front Kourosh Zaim, 72 has been sentenced to three years in prison after judges found him guilty of acting against national security and spreading propaganda against the Islamic republic.
He had given a radiointerview to radio Farda in 2011.

Iran: further

April 10 were in the prison of  Shehr-e-Kord 3 men hanged. The not met named prisoners were convicted for drugsrelated crimes.
One of the prisoners was charged with keeping of 400 grams of crack, 22 grams of "shisheh" (synthetic heroin) and 14 grams of hashish,he also confessed the selling of one kg of heroin. The two other men were respectively convicted for participation in keeping 3 kilos and 102 grams of heroin, crack and shisheh, and participation in keeping 2 kilos and 783 grams of the same substances.
2 prisoners were hanged in Tabas.
A. H.45, was accused of participation and keeping of 1380 kilos opium, 498 kilos of morphine, and keeping of 190 kilos of opium M. M. 30 charged with keeping of 30 kg of heroin.
April 9 are 5 prisoners hangee in the cities of Bam and Kerman. None of them was named.

According to IRNA a group of terrorists were arrested after months of intelligence operations in central and border provinces of Iran.
Although the report did not provide names, Iranian media in recent months have quoted several officials as saying that neighboring Azerbaijan has sheltered operatives plotting attacks in Iran.
The report says that all spies were arrested before they could implement their plans.

Blogger Hossein Ronaghi Maleki is returned to Evinprison after he was brought to the hospital in dire condition.
The doctors advised him to undergo surgery, but he will not be allowed proper recovery, and he refused the operation.

Iran: more

Iran has denied online reports that "clean internet" will start in August. Various reports say that the so-called interview with Communications Minister Reza Taghipour that was published this week is a hoax.
The ministry said this on the own website which itself was not accessible outside of Iran.

Tehrans prosecutor announced that several government officials and the board of Melli Bank and the Bank of Saderat have been accused in Iran’s recent $3-billion bank fraud.
The officemanager who worked under former Melli Bank CEO Mahmoudreza Khavari, was arrested. Other members of the bank’s management team are currently released on bail.

The head of Central Bank in Iran, Mahmoud Bahmani Monday has resigned, however the resignation was not accepted by senior government officials.
Bahmani decided to resign as parliament protested to what is called "nightly withdrawal" of money. He was summoned to the parliament over this.
The withdrawal of money from banks had been ordered by the government and a decision of 5-person committee. Because of  Clause 5 of the government decree, which allowed withdrawing money,the central bank director is stripped from authority.

Iran: part-time

Fars newsagency reported that the Iranian parliament's consolidation commission approved this years budget.
Out of 20 votes, 5 votes were cast in opposition and 4 members abstained.

On Satersuday were 12 christians tried in Rasht for different charges including "crimes against the order".
Their names are Pastor Matthias Haghnejad and his wife Anahita Khadeimi, Mahmoud Khosh-Hal and his wife Hava Saadetmend, Amir Goldoust, Mina Goldoust, Zhaina Bahremand, Fatemah Modir-Nouri, Mehrdad Habibzade, Milad Radef, Behzad Taalipasand and Amin Pishkar.

600 metalworkers of Metal Industries of Iran gathered in front of the president’s office to demonstrate against rights violations.
ILNA reported that the workers have been reduced from 1,200 to 800 workers, and  that the  management has consistently withheld wages in the past year, so that eight months’ worth is now owed.
Saturday,  workers of Shahab Car Manufacturing gathered in front of the Ministry of Labor to protest their jobloss.

The president of Women’s and Family Affairs Centre announced a plan to divide every officejob into two part-time jobs for women, providing them with one-half the usual salary.
According to this plan female employees will work 22 hours instead of 44. Fars newsagency reports that the head of Women’s and Family Affairs Centre said that this plan is made in response to the high number of educated women and the lack of job opportunities for them.
Women’s rights activists have criticized such measures as obstacles to women’s employment opportunities.

5 Iranians will be on trial in Thailand accused of being involved in the bombing in Bangkok.
Also was additional  documented evidence sent to Malaysia to extradite Masoud Sedaghatzadeh.He was arrested, one day after the blast in Kuala Lumpur.
Saerb Moradi,28, lost his leg in attempt to flee. Mohammad Khazaei, 42, Nikkhahfard Javad, 52 and Leila Rohani,32 are the other suspects.

Human rights lawyer Mohammad Seifzadeh refuses to participate in his upcoming trial.
His wife told International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran that her husband will not appear at this court session again for the same reason as before–he does not recognize the Revolutionary Court as qualified to review this case. He should be tried in the Tehran Province Criminal Court, in the presence of a jury qualified to review press and political charges.
Seifzadeh was arrested in April 2011.

April 4th, student-activist and member of Iran Freedom Movement Payman Aref has been released.He had been on a wet hunger strike since 21 March in Evinprison.
He had been arrested on March 14th on charges of the head of Evinprison that Aref implicated him in carrying out his October 2011 illegal flogging.

Imprisoned human rights defender Nasrin Sotoudeh has been deprived of furlough and telephone contact with her family during the Persian New Year.

All 27 crewmembers of a Chinese ship that was hijacked in the Sea of Oman by Somalian pirates were rescued by two Iranian warships who were in the area. The Chinese ship, Xianghuamen, has been rescued and is in repair now. Later the ship will sail to the Iranian port of Gask, about 112 km away from where the hijacking occurred and 322 km away from the vessel's destination.

Iran: sentence

The president of Syrian Muslim Brotherhood says that Iran is a partner in the massacre being carried out by the ruling Assad regime and that the Brotherhood has evidence to prove it.
He said this Thursday in an interview with Todays Zaman. According to him there is abundant evidence to prove this partnership.
He says that Iran is providing political, financial and military support to the Assad regime.In particular military support,comes via Iraq.

Special report about Kurdish prisoners Ghader Mohammadzadeh and Mohammad Amin Abdollahi.
Investigation revealed that despite sources reported that they were sentenced to death, they were sentenced to long prisonterms. Mohammadzadeh was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment and exile to prison in the city of Yazd for muharebeh through membership in Komala and Abdollahi was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment and exile to the prison of Tabas on the same charges.


Despite posting bail former mayor of Tehran, Mohammad Tavassoli, 74, has not been released.
He has been arrested on November 2nd 2011 and has been held in ward 209 of Evin Prison.Because of the bad conditions in ward 209, his health is deteriorating.

Humanrightsactivist Mansoureh Behkish has been sentenced to 4,5 years in prison for her role in forming a group called “Mourning Mothers and propaganda activities against the state.
She was arrested with 32 other women on June 2011 in Laleh Park in Tehran where they weekly gathered to mourn over their dead children who were killed in 2009.
