Iran: remember February 14, 2013


On February 13 is in Tehran a man publicly hanged.
The man, Ali Mohammad Zadeh was according to newsagency Fars convicted for murdering two girls.
Fars also published pictures from the Iranian security forces’ campaign of arresting "thugs" in Tehran.
The pictures show how masked men put several young men on display in public and humiliate them.
The IHR condemns the execution and the humiliation of the young men.

According to Committee of Human Rights Reporters were on February 1, 2013,in Semnan two Bahai Ardeshir Fanaeyan and Shidrokh Firouzian arrested.
Their houses were searched and personal belongings confiscated.
They were transferred to the Semnan Intelligence Ministry headquarters.

Nobel Peace laureate Shirin Ebadi and six humanrightsorganizations, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran, International Federation for Human Rights, League for the Defence of Human Rights in Iran, and Reporters Without Borders have called on the Iranian authorities to immediately release from arbitrary house arrest the leaders of the country’s opposition Green Movement Mehdi Karroubi and Mir Hossein Mousavi, his wife Zahra Rahnavard.

Iran: more February 13 2013


In the prison of Arak were on February 12 februari 2 men hanged.
The men, A. M. (29) and R. M. (44) are convicted for possessing 1014 grams of crack and 1717 grams of heroin.
According to Fars is a not named man scheduled to be hanged publicly in Tehran today, he is convictee for murdering two girls.

The journalist Mohammad Davari had suffered a heartattack in Evinprison, after hearing the news of his brother’s death.
His brother died last week and he was informed of it yesterday by some prison visitors.
Davari has been in jail for the past three years and has not been given a day of furlough in all that time.He was transferred to the prison infirmary and later sent to Modarres Hospital.

Committee of Human Rights Reporters reports  that Kurdish journalist Adnan Hassanpour has spent 7 years in prison, making him the longest standing prisoner among journalists.
He is serving his sentence in Sanandaj prison, deprived of his legal right to furlough, without a single hour of release during these years.

When Kokab and Narges Mousavi , two of Mir Hossein Mousavi’s daughters were interrogated in Evinprison a high level security official also reportedly threatened Mousavi’s son-in-law by phone.
He was told that all his activities are under surveillance by Iran’s security apparatus.
He also was told that in addition to Nargez and Zahra Mousavi, Kokab his eldest daughter was also going to be summoned to Evin court and they were all to be charged with spreading lies.
Zahra Mousavi stated to Kalemenieuws that the possible causes for the events that occurred yesterday is that in order to cover up the recent infighting in parliament, the ruling establishment was in need of a fresh news cycle as we approach February 14th (the anniversary of the detention of the leaders of the Green Movement).

Iran: more February 12 2013

Fruday, February 15 it has been 2 years that Mir Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi were placed under house arrest.
Ahmed Shaheed, UN Special Rapporteur for human rights in Iran, the UN Special Rapporteur for the right to peaceful gathering and the Chair-Rapporteur of the UN working group for arbitrary detention urged Iran to release the oppositionleaders and their family.
Both daughters of Mousavi, Zahra and Narges and Hossein, the son van Karroubi were arrested Monday for some hours, after they were summoned to give "explanation" to authorities.

January 30 were in Urmia Fardin Aghsani and his wife Farahnaz Moghadam arrested. Their house was searched by agents of the Ministry of Intelligence and personal belongings related to Baha’i faith were confiscated.
They were brought to an unknown place and were allowed one phonecall to their family.

The spokesman of the Iranian Judicial and Legal Committee, said that Turkey has no pressfreedom.
He said  there are 450 cases of freedom of speech violations in Turkey at the European Court of Human Rights which indicates the lack of freedom of expression in that country.
In Iran are more then 200 journalists imprisoned.

In recent weeks were houses of reformist political activists and critics, university teachers, labor and unionactivists, ethnic activists, derwishes and sunni moslims in various cities across Iran searched by agents of the Ministry of Information and IRGC and they were warned(in name of the establishment) not to participate to the upcoming ’92 (2013)elections .
The establishment (read the authoritarian ruler) has made a final decision to prevent the effective participation of Reformists and Green Movement supporters in the election.

The prosecutor summoned 8 employees of the Social Security Fund in connection with the videos of Fazel Larijani and Saeed Mortazavi revealed last week in Parliament and posted on YouTube.
The videos accuse the Larijani brothers, who head the Iranian Parliament and the judiciary, of abuse of power and corruption.
Last week, as the Labour Minister was being impeached for appointing Saeed Mortazavi to head of the Social Security Fund, President Ahmadinejad, rather than supporting the minister’s choice, began showing a film that revealed the brother of the parliamentary speaker wheeling and dealing with Saeed Mortazavi.

Across Iran there are rallies to mark the 34th anniversary of the country's 1979 Islamic revolution.
In Tehran demonstrators chanted Down with the U.S. and Death to Israel.
Presiden Ahmadinejad said in a speech to mark the event that he is prepared to hold talks with the United States if the international community reduces the pressure against Iran.

Iran: more February 9, 2013



Two political activists from Azerbaijan, Latif Hassani and Shahram Radmehr, a member and the secretary of Ya’ni Gamouh, were on February 6 arrested in their house by security agents.
Earlier other members of central committee of Ya’ni Gamouh , Mahmoud Fazli and Ayat Mehr Ali Bigdeli (Yourosh) were arrested.
Mahmoud Fazli has been transferred from Tabriz Etela’at to Tabriz prison and after a few days to the office of Tabriz Etela’at, Ayat Mehr Ali Bigdeli is still interrogated.

At a rocketattack on an Iranian refugeecamp in Iraq with 3000 members of Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MEK), the militant branch of National Council of Resistance of Iran, were 6 people killed and 40 people wounded.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
The camp is based on a former U.S. military base known as Camp Liberty.

Iran: February 8 2013



Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has rejected an offer of direct talks made by U.S. Vice President.
In a speech to air force commanders on February he said that such talks will not solve anything. He also said that the Americans wanted to negotiate while "pointing the gun at Iran".

Iran denies being involved in the bombing of a bus last year July in Bulgaria. Tuesday Bulgaria accused Iranian-backed Hezbollah of carrying out the July attack.

The secretary of Supreme Council of Cyberspace, said regarding filtering and other blocks of websites that one of the most important programs is the removal of existing problems in website filtering by a new program known as Smart Filtering. As for the 20 million Iranians on Facebook, he was claiming that the statistics are not true at all. Blockage of access to Facebook would in no way be lifted anytime soon.

Iranian statetelevision broadcasted footage extracted from the advanced CIA spydrone which they said had been intercepted in 2011. In December 2011 it entered Iranian airspace from its eastern border with Afghanistan.
The footage shows RQ-170 Sentinel and images of an airfield and a city said to be a US drone base and Kandahar in Afghanistan.

On February 5 the Ministry of Information announced a new round of arrests of journalists.
In claims about earlier in 2011 arrested groups of documentary and filmmakers was said that these were based on allegations of “affiliation with the BBC and that all these groups are a think tank, related and attached to foreign intelligence services and establish a ‘constant soft war’ against Iran.
In January he announced that more journalists could be arrested while others could be released until the last individual affiliated with this network is investigated.
The names of the newly arrested journalists have not been released.

On January 28 a car of Kurdish citizens in Zanjan-Tabriz highway has been shot by the police, killing 2 Kurds and Kamran Abdouie and Senar Abdouie from Katban near Salmas were critical injured.
They were brought to a hospital in Tabriz.

Iran: more February 6, 2013

Former prosecutor Said Mortazavi has been released from detention.
IRNA reports that February 3 arrested Mortazavi was released on February 6. He was arrested shortly after Ahmadinejad publicly accused parliament speaker Ali Larijani's family of corruption.
Ahmadinejad harshly criticized Mortazavi's arrest, saying he would pursue the case after returning from his visit to Egypt.
During his visit to Egypt a man tried to throw a shoe to Ahmadinejad shouting "coward" as he striked out.

Yasan Mousavi, has been arrested by security agents in his house in Tehran on February 3 and brought to Evin prison.It is told that he will be kept in temporary detention for one month.

Reports say that authorities in Rajai Shahr prison increase executions.None of the executions have been announced by the Iranian authorities.
January 27 Masoud Alimoradi and Mahmoud Nezami were executed.
February 3 one prisoner of ward 3 and on February 4 a prisoner of ward 1, Ali Mohammadzadeh were transferred for execution. Prisoners are normally transferred to Evin Prison for execution , but for the past two months Iranian authorities have been executing prisoners in a hall newly built in Rajai Shahr Prison.

WND says that at the (denied) explosion on January 21 januari at the nuclear facilities near Fordow at least 40 people were killed, among them 2 North Koreans.
A member of security said that the bodies of 11 of the technicians and scientists are beyond recognition, 60 others are in critical condition and have been transferred to central base of 27th division of Mohammad Rassool Allah situated between Tehran and Qom, which is equipped with a modern medical facility. At the time of the explosions, 203 Iranian scientists and technicians along with 16 North Koreans had been at the site, though the initial report listed 240 people.

Former Tehran prosecutor , Saeed Mortazavi has been arrested. He is one of the responsible implicated in the Kahrizak Prison scandal. Sunday, the Iranian parliament voted to dismiss Ahmadinejad’s labour minister following his failure to dismiss former Mortazavi from his post as the director of the Social Security Organisation.

Iran: seen February 4 2013


Two independent sources reported to Iran Human Rights that in Vakilabad Prison, Mashhad more then 400 prisoners were executed.Every week on Wednesday and Sunday, and sometimes up to three times a week there were executions.
Detailed information is not available, but last year there were secret massexecutions.
Iran Human Rights (IHR) will publish more details when available.

German customs officials found a check of $70 million in the possession of a former head of Iran’s central bank.
The check of 300 million Venezuelans bolivars, issued by the Bank of Venezuela, was found on a 59-year-old man. Bild sam Sontag identified the man as Tahmasb Mazaheri, who was governor of Iran’s central bank until 2008.

President Ahmadinejad accused the family of Iranian speaker of parliament of corruption.
He did this to defend one of his ministers against impeachment proceedings.
He played a recording of Fazel Larijani, the brother of speaker Ali Larijani and said it implicated the family in corruption.
Ali Larijani is considered a frontrunner to succeed Ahmadinejad in June's election.

Iran: win February 3 2013


Iran unveiled a new fighter-jet.
The Qaher (Conquer) 313 pictures which is developed by the Iranian Ministry of Defensie and Armed Forces Logistics.
The jet is designed by Iranian Aerial Defense Industries Organization. It is a stealthfighter.
Iran nears self-sufficiency in jetfuel production. Abadan Oil Refinery is renovated. Next week, President Ahmadinejad is expected to inaugurate the final phase of the development of Abadan Refinery.

An Iranian official said that the pictures of the "space-monkey" had been mixed up, thus showing 2 different monkeys. Mohammad Ebrahimi told that the monkey who traveled in space was named "Pishgam," the Farsi word for pioneer. Initially, the Iranian media said "Pishgam" was the rocket that took him on a 20-minute journey into space.
He said that one of the pictures was that of an alternate monkey.
Five monkeys were tested for such a flight and two or three are chosen for the launch.

Iran: more February 2, 2013

Two years since the arrest of Iranian physicist and student at American university of Texas in Austin (UT Austin) Omid Kokabee, students  from the University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin) have released a short film about his situation.
The website freedomforomid.org has collected several petitions and open letters which are circulating on Kokabee’s behalf.
Kokabee was arrested at the airport on charges of “communicating with a hostile government” . He was convicted and sentenced to 10 years in prison.

January 29 are in Marivan, province Kurdistan 6 Kurds , Khaled Ahmadi, Zana Moini, Saman Mahmoudi, Davoud Ghasimi and Mohammad Kohnehposhi were  arrested. Their houses were raided and personal belongings and computers were confiscated.
The reason for the arrest is unknown and they were brought to an unknown place.
Studentactivists Shaho Mahmoudi and Dana Lenjabadi were summoned to the intelligence office.

Questions have risen if the launch of a monkey in space, really did happen.
Before and after pictures of the monkey appear different. The monkey’s fur is drastically darker upon return, and it’s missing a distinctive red mole above its right eye.
Telegraph.uk wrote that either the original monkey died after the rocket landed or that the experiment didn’t go that well.
Or it didn't happen at all.

Iran: many February 1, 2013

In the prison of Kerman were on January 30 5 men hanged.
The men, Allahnazar Sh., Rahmatollah Sh., Abdollah Sh., Saleh H., and Nematollah Sh. were convicted of participation in armed trafficking of 53 kilograms and 250 grams of opium.

200 Iranian journalists, both inside and outside Iran undersigned a statement objecting to the widespread arrests of their collegues.
They demand the judicial authorities to swiftly release the arrested journalists and to prove that they respect the laws.
So far 16 journalists have been arrested in five days.
Their names are: Pouria Alemi, Pejman Mousavi, Emily Amraee, Akbar Montajabi, Sasan Aghaee, Javad Daliri, Nasrin Takhayori, Narges Joudaki, Keyvan Mehregan, Hossein Yaghchi, Saba Azarpeik, Ali Dehghan, Soleiman Mohammadi, Milad Fadai Asl, Reyhaneh Tabatabaee, and Fatemeh Sagharchi.
Motahareh Shafiee was released shortly after her arrest due to illness.
The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) condemned the arrests.Catherine Ashton, European Union’s foreign policy chief said that she was “concerned” by the recent wave of arrests.

Iran: more January 31 2013

Western diplomats said that Iran told the Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that the country plans to install thousands of more modern uranium centrifuges in Natanz. This enables Iran to refine uranium two or three times faster than is currently possible.
Anonymous Western diplomats said that Iran had notified the IAEA, about its plans in a letter dated January 23.

The Bulletin News website, a site linked to security bodies, announced that journalist Ali Dehghan also has been arrested. Dehghan works for the economical section of daily Bahar. Before he had worked with several reformist newspapers such as Shargh, Etemad and Bahar, and he has also worked for the Iranian Labour News Agency (ILNA).
This is the first time Dehghan has been arrested.

Iran: opposite January 30, 2013


The daughter of Rafsanjani, Faezeh Hashemi, who is detained in Evinprison, published a letter to website Kaleme and slammed the member of parliament that visited Evin Prison on January 23 and said it was like a hotel.
She wrote that the reports by visiting MPs are not only mixed with lies and delusion but they are also very tactless.
She also wrote: We saw the signs of this tactlessness during the visit as this individual treated the women prisoners with contempt; he denied the veracity of their statements and soon pressed for the delegation to leave, saying he had to get to his prayers on time.”

Some reformist newspapers made a rare protest against the the raid on their offices and the arrests of their staffmembers. Newspaper Shargh published in its January 30 issue an empty space where Pouria Alami's column would usually have appeared and explained that "it will not be printed until further notice."
Also the newspaper Bahar protested against the arrest of journalists.

Iran fully supports the regime of Syrian president Assad. A senior Iranian official said that those who are backing the "terrorists" are responsible for the fights and killings in Syria.
On a pressconference the Iranian foreign ministry's undersecretary for Arab and African affairs said that the cause of the Syrian crisis is the sending of arms to terrorist groups into Syria by some countries.
