Journalist and humanrightsactivist Khosro Kordpour has been arrested in Mahabad. His brother told that after his arrest on March 7 security agents searched his house and confiscated computer and personal belongings.
Kordpour is director of Mokerian News Agency which mostly covers news of Kurdestan Province and human rights issues.

Iran: continue March 7 2013

News agency Mehr reported that on March 2 in Torkmanchai area of Mianeh 2 prisoners were hanged in public.
The prisoners, A. R. and S. N. were convicted for murdering a man in 2011.
In the prison of Sari is a man hanged on February 28. The not named man was convicted on drugsrelated charges.

The mother ofp incarcerated blogger Sattar Beheshti who died in prison in November 2012, has vowed to take her own life if authorities fail to bring to justice those responsible for her son’s suspicious death.
Despite promises by officials that the case would be sent to the courts before mid-February, this did not happen. Security officials have put his mother and other family members under close surveillance and have told them not to speak to the media or international rights organizations about the case.

Iran: further March 6, 2013

Kurdish activist Ali Ahmad Soleiman and four other prisoners were October 2012 transferred from Orumiyeh Central Prison to the Intelligence Office Detention Center.
Soleiman was convicted to 1 year in prison on charges of ‘contact with foreign media and the office of the UN Special Rapporteur,’ and ‘propaganda against the regime.’
Ahmad Tamouee, Yousef Kakeh Meimi, Jahangir Badouzadeh, and Mostafa Ali Ahmad who were arrested along with him, wwre also tortured and interrogated on charges of ‘contact with foreign media and the office of the UN Special Rapporteur,’ and ‘propaganda against the regime.’

Committee of Human Rights Reporters reports that journalists Nasrin Takhoyori, Saba Azarpeik and Sasan Aghayee are released on bail. They were arrested in January.
Of the 19 journalists detained during the wave of arrests, 17 have now been released on bail.

Iran: more March 5, 2013

Staff-editor at monthly Mehmaheh MohammadJavad Rouh has been arrested on March 4 maart in his house by security agents.
Rouha is a former member of Association for the Defence of Prisoner Rights and the Islamic Iran Participation Front. He worked for Iranian Labour News Agency as for reformist daily's Norooz and Yas-e No.
The ministry of intelligence had announced that in the course of its investigations it may arrest more journalists.

According to the official newsagency Irna, Iranian Intelligence Ministry has dealt a heavy blow to 600 journalists operating against the regime. 150 of journalists had been working from inside the country and the rest from abroad.
Referring to the unrest that followed the widely disputed 2009 presidential elections, Heidar Moslehi said that the sedition now comprised domestic and foreign “rings” and their main goal in the upcoming elections in June was to comeback and to strike a revolution.
He added that his goal is to prevent this.

The elections will take place in June 2013.

In Gachsaran were on February 28 4 prisoners hanged in public.
They were convicted for rape in 2007. The youngest man was 22 when he was executed.
Iran Human Rights is investigating this matter.
The names of the executed were identified by a local website as: Kianoosh Anbazpour, Yahya Bei’atpanah, Sajjad Soltani and Shahzad Basiri.
In the prison of Semnan is 1 prisoner hanged. According to the judicial website the man, R. Kh. was convicted for possession of 1163 grams of crack.
According to Iranian statemedia is on February 27 in the prison of Kashan a 31-year-old man hanged. He was convicted for trafficking of 3 kilograms of heroin in 2010.

On February 24 were in the prison of Qazvin 3 prisoners hanged.
J. (33) for possession of 24 grams of cannabis and 440 grams of Shisheh, M. (32) for possession of 223 grams of heroin and 412 grams of Shisheh and M. (28) for possession of 470 grams of Shisheh.
In the prison of Behbehan was 1 man hanged. A. Gh. for trafficking of 3485 grams of crack.
IRNA reported that in the prison of Sari 1 man was hanged. His name was not revealef and he was convicted for drugs.

The governor of Tehran stressed recently the importance of “popularizing” chastity and hijab. Political prisoner Ahmad Daneshpour Moghadam,who is sentenced to death and who is imprisoned in ward 350 of Evinprison is being rejected medical furlough, despite his deteriorating health condition.
Ahmad Daneshpour and his father Mohsen Daneshpour were arrested after the Ashuraprotests and were sentenced to death after an unfair trial. They are charged with “deliberate cooperation with MKO,” “gathering and colluding against national security,” and “propaganda against the regime and in the interest of enemies.”
The deathsentences were confirmed by the Appeal Court on May 15 2010.

Iran: released and arrested February 26, 2013

IHR reported on February 3rd that in Vakilabadprison in Mashhad tens of secret executions take place. The executions began in October 2012 and have been taking place on Wednesdays and Sundays every week.
At least ten prisoners are hanged each time. On two occasions in November and December, thirty-five and fifty prisoners were executed respectively.

The Netherlands stil discriminates Iranian Dutch in certain sectors of university study.
Although the Supreme Court in December ruled that this is discrimination, Iranian Dutch who want to study or work in certain academic sectors still has to ask for a permit.
Nederlands blocks with nine master studies Iranian students and scholars.They have to apply for an exemption from the Minister of Education. The resolution of the United Nations, "Iran Sanctions Regulations" (2008), gives Iran harder knowledge about nuclear weapons. The courts in The Hague described the scheme as discriminatory.

Experts of UN investigate a ship in Yemen which was intercepted in January in Persian Gulf.

Committee of Human Rights Reporters reports that poet and journalist Keyvan Mehregan, who was head of the political sections of Shargh and Etemad newspapers, has been released on bail.He had been arrested several times during the past few years.
