Iran: occurrences


Amnesty International said in an analysis paper prepared ahead of a review of Iran by the United Nations Human Rights Council that the Iranian view of the state of human rights in the country is severely distorted.
The U.N. Human Rights Council’s Working Group will evaluate Iran’s human rights record on February 15. .

Voice of America interviewed Karroubi's son who told what happened February 11. Karroubi was attacked by plainclothed people who started to beat him and he was sprayed by teargas. Another son and several of Karroubi’s assistants were also arrested. They were asked to stop cooperating with Mr. Karoubi.

In the first 10 days of February a lot of cases pertaining to Baha’i rights abuses were reported.
Farideh Reazee is released after bail.
The arrest of Vesal Mohammadi and Bahman Yazdani is confirmed.
Aliaskar Ravanbakhsh and his wife Zoleikh were allowed on temporary leave from prison for respectively 5 and 10 days.
Rouhiyah Yazdani(Baghaee) is allowed a 5 day leave also.
Shahram Afshar and Payman Nakhli, businessmen from Mashahr were told by city’s municipal authorities to close down their businesses.
February 1, the house of Payam Vali was searched and he was arrested.
The 7 Bahaileaders appeared after almost 2 years before a closed door court hearing.
The legal status of the Baha’is arrested after the Ashura protests remains uncertain.
Vahid Esmailzadeh from Sari is released after paying bail.
Behnam and his brother Sohail Rohanifard are sentenced to 9 months in jail.
February 10 is Allaeddin Khanjani arrested after a raid on his house.
His father Jamaleddin is one of the 7 detained Bahaileaders.His daughter, Lava was arrested together with 12 other Bahai's January 3.
Ashkan Basri, Maria Jafari (Ehsani), Bashir Ehsani, Roumina Zabihian and Houtan Sistani were arrested for their alleged roles in the recent riots.
State television broadcasted a program called the Constitutional Monarchy Years ,dedicated to insulting the Baha’i faith and tampering with its history.

Unofficial counts put the number of arrested girls at 250.
The number of male arrested is much higher.
The authorities have yet to announce the total number of people arrested in Iran on 22bahman.
A report by eyewitnesses says that some Ashura detainees were released that night to make room for the people arrested on 22 Bahman.
Evin authorities began to release some prisoners, young girls for the most part, in the late hours of Thursday.
