Iran: abuse

Website Fars reported October 19 that in the city of Shiraz a man was hanged in public.
The man, Kourosh A. (35) was sentenced to death for murdering and robbing a woman in December 2010.

Iran disputes the recent humanrightsabusesreport(pdf) from the UN, that says human rights abuses in that country are increasing.
The Iranian envoy called on the United States and Britain to address their own human rights shortcomings.

The Mothers of Park Laleh on the International Day Against Death Penalty, October 10, 2011 released a statement in which they speak out against the many humanrightsabuses in Iran.
They point out to the special rapporteur of the UN in Iran and human rights organizations across the globe, be aware that human rights violations have reached a record high in Iran.
To prove this point, they submit the following data representing only the names and information related to a small number of individuals either imprisoned or killed in the last ten years, excluding those officially executed in prisons or gunned down in the streets during the same period of time.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that Meysam Roustaei a conscript at Iranian police died September 22, not from suicide, but from beatings.
That day he was summoned to report at the commander.Op die dag was hij gesommeerd bij de commandant te komen. His fellow conscripts report to his family that their son had been taken to solitary confinement as a form of punishment.
The coroner has not yet issued a report and has been postponed it to next month.

7 members of Baha’i Institute for Higher Education (BIHE) have been sentenced to a total of 30 years.
Ramin Zibaie, Mahmoud Badavam, Riaz Sobhani, Farhad Sedghi and Noushin Khadem were sentenced to 4 years in prison.
Vahid Mahmoudi and Kamran Mortezaei were sentenced to 5 years in prison.
They were charged with membership in the Bahai movement.
