Iran: admittance

Iran has demanded the immediate release of the five men who were taken in custody at the Iranian consulate in Arbil.
USA says that they are linked to the Iranian Revolutionary Guards which they say arms insurgents in Iraq, while Iran says that the five Iranian diplomats working at the consulate have been engaged in legal and official activities within the law.
Last Thursday, January 11, USA raided the building and detained the five men.



As of 2010, Iranian students can enter university without passing the difficult barrier of entry exams.
Deputy minister of Sciences, Researches and Technology, Hossein Khaleqi told IRNA that the decision was made based on an agreement between the ministry and the parliament (majlis).
Based on the agreement, highschool graduates would enter universities based on the marks they would gain during the two final years of their highschools.
During the recent years there were cases of students committing suicide after failing in university entry exams.




Police on Saturday found more than two tons of various drugs in a pickup truck near Tabas, Yazd province.
The truck's two occupants escaped as police approached.
The trucks load was two tons of opium, 106 kilograms of heroin, and 12.7 kilograms of crystal.

Iran is a on a major drug smuggling route flowing from Afghanistan to Europe.
