Iran: transfer

The other Belgian tourist who was kidnapped in Iran last month, is released. Yesterday he was in presence of Iranian Foreign Minister Mottaki and his Belgian counterpart De Gucht, reunited in Tehran with his parents.
According to Mottaki intensive negotiation was due to his release.
Both countries worked intense together.
De Gucht confirmed that Belgium donates half a million Euros to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, although he has stressed this was not a payoff for the release.



An Iranian soldier who was abducted July 19, during clashes between Iranian troops and bandits in Sistan and Baluchestan during which 11 members of Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), got killed, was freed by Iranian troops on Friday.
A second soldier is still not freed.



Iran has overturned the death sentence against former MKO (Mujahedin Khalq Organization)member Saeed Masuri and reduced to life imprisonment.
Masuri was sentenced to death in 2001 for his alleged role in an MKO "military mission" aimed against the Iranian government


During a ceremony in Tehran were 21.000 gas-fueled taxi's added to the public transportation fleet.
10,000 Pride sedans, 3,500 Samand cars, 5,000 Road sedans and 2,500 Peugeot 405 sedans join the public transportation fleet. Also, 2,000, 11-seat sedans manufactured by Mehregan Company, an affiliate of Islamic Republic of Iran Police are to be added to the fleet.
Managing director of Iran Khodro said that the company would deliver over 100,000 gas-fueled taxis to nationwide transportation fleet by March in line of the government policy to renovate the urban transportation.
