Iran: declarations

The British Ahwazi Friendship Society (BAFS) has launched an Ahwazi Rights Declaration, following a consultation process with the Ahwazi Arab community.
It sets out Ahwazi demands for self-determination, human rights, democracy, freedom of association, freedom of worship, women's rights, redistribution of oil wealth and peace in Iran.
The Declaration will form the basis of lobbying and advocacy activity for Ahwazi Arab rights.

The National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) has discovered about 1.6 billion barrels of oil in the Paranj oil field in Khuzestan province.
In the Sefid Zakhorfield, located 30 km to the south of Ghir city in Fars province a total of 11.4 trillion cubic feet of gas has also been discovered between March 21 and August 20, 2007.
The director for exploration for NIOC said it is possible that more gas reserves will be discovered in the gas field.



Tuesday a Shiite cleric was assassinated in a village near Khash, province Sistan-Baluchestan as he was delivering a sermon. He was shot in a mosque by two men who made away on motorcycles.
According to IRNA the murder was committed by US-backed terrorists to destroy the unity between sunni and shi'a moslims.
Press-tv writes that a MP from Zahedan blames Al-Qaeda for the cleric murder.
