Iran: avouch

On Sunday are 3 men hanged in public in the city of Qom.
The men, Yahya Maddadi, Atta-ollah Pul-Zohi, and Hossein Saffarlou are convicted for druggsmuggling.
November 20 were 5 drugssmugglers hanged in the city of Birjand.


The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told reporters on Sunday that kidnapped Japanese student Satoshi Nakamura is in good health and spoke to his family.
The Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs will send someone to Iran this week to discuss the abduction.




The Iranian Health Ministry has asserted that the news of a bird flu outbreak in northern and western parts of the country is baseless.
The Ministry has presented its official report on bird flu to the World Health Organization (WHO).
The Hajj Organization has declared that a bird flu outbreak in Saudi Arabia is not a threat to Iranian pilgrims. The Iranian pilgrims' food program has also undergone changes, f.i. eggs and chicken have been removed from menus.
Iranian pilgrims also have been warned to avoid any contact with birds during their stay in Mecca and Medina.

Womens rights activist Jelveh Javaheri is Sunday arrested in Tehran. She was summoned to the court and after interrogation she was arrested on charges of disrupting the public opinion, anti-regime propaganda, and spreading false news. She is a sociology student and has been active in women rights’ groups for a long time.
She has written extensively for various sites,among them www.we-change.org.
Jelveh Javaheri is transferred to Evinprison.
Maryam Hosseinkhah, another member of the One Million Signatures Campaign was imprisoned 13 days ago on similar charges and is also currently being held in Evin Prison.
