Several clerics sitting as MPs in the Iranian parliament have criticised the Tehran police chief for showing excessive zeal by ordering a crackdown on women's high boots.
Clerical MP Seyed Hadi Tabatabai told the newspaper Etemad that no officials have the right to mix religion with emotions and issue decrees and implement them on behalf of clerics. Such behaviour tarnishes Islam.
The chief of Tehran's police had described women wearing such fashions as an example of "Tabarroj", an Islamic term which means revealing one's beauty and bodily contours to unrelated men.
Cleric MP Mohammad Taghi Rahbar said that a Muslim woman wearing high boots with a coat and other coverings does not contradict Islam.

I follow your blog with a lot of interest. Thank you. Just wanted to note that the expectations from the Islamic Regime should not be any less, the regime is made up of a lot of seriously ill people who we rarely hear from such as Ayatollah Mohammad Mohammadi Gilani who was the judge authorizing the executions of thousands of people including signing the execution document for two of his own sons. Another person of interest is Sardar Naqdi (or General Naghdi) who killed his own sister with his own hands for being a member of MEK, he later was promoted to the position of head of IRGC's counter intelligence.
