In Iran are two sisters sentenced to death by stoning for adultery.
The women, Zohreh and Azar were both arrested in Februar 2007 due to allegations of adultery given by Zohreh’s husband.
One month later, they were prosecuted in court, found guilty, and sentenced to 99 lashes.
This sentence was executed but however, due to reasons unknown, both were returned to prison.
Six months later, another prosecution took place for the same crime. This time, they were sentenced to death by stoning.
The Supreme Court of Iran has confirmed this verdict.
Their lawyer, Jabbar Solati said to the Etemad newspaper that the two sisters had initially been tried for "illegal relations" and received 99 lashes. However in a second trial they were convicted of "adultery".
They have been tried twice for one crime.
The lawyer had appealed to the state prosecutor.
According to National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) nine teenagers are sentenced to death by hanging.
Massoud Kafishir, Saiid Jazi, Hossein Toranj, Mehdi Azimi, Hamed Pour Heydari, Mostafa Naqdi, Benjamin Rasouli, Behrooz Shojaii and Morteza Feizi are convicted to death and were under 18 at the time of the alleged crime.
Six of them are under 18 now.
All are prisoners in Goradashtprison.
In Iran there are childoffenders, still on death row.
Children are being hanged to death.
A child will be hanged to death.
