Iran: procedures

Reports in Iranian media suggest that the turnout for the parliament elections was 65%.
The Guardian.uk reports that especially in Tehran the turnout was very low.
Like expected the conservatives are ahead.

The election results for Tehran province will be announced within the next few days.


March 4 is Afghan journalist Ali Mohaqiq Nasab arrested in Qum by plain-clothed officers with a warrant. Sahar, his wife told that police seized his computer, handwritten unpublished manuscripts and identification documents that included the couple’s marriage certificate.
Police refused to disclose the reason for his detention, but told Sahar that the warrant had been issued by the local clerical tribunal.
Nasab fled Afganistan 2006 where he was persecuted for his journalistic activities and after serving part of a two-year prison sentence on a blasphemy charges.
Nasab has advocated a more liberal interpretation of Islamic law in published articles.


The Committee for the Defense of Azerbaijan activist Abbas Lisani has published a statement in which she announces that Lisani is extradited from the prison in Ardabil and probably transferred to the prison of Yazd, far from Ardabil.
During the process of the extradition by force from Ahar prison, Mr. Lisani was subjected to physical violence by being battered and kicked. During the deportation he was handcuffed and shackled.
They believe that the life of Mr Lisani is in great danger and they ask the entire international community to speak out on behalf of Mr. Lisani.
