Iran: standard/non-standard

Fars Newsagency reported that Iranian securityforces killed at least 18 drug smugglers.
Other reports mentioned 24 deaths. Statetelevision showed footage of dead gunmen lying on the ground in a hilly area.
This happened near the city of Taibad, Khorasan Razavi province, near the border with Afghanistan. Last week 12 drug smugglers got killed in the same area.


April 6 Mahmoud Salehi, unionleader of the bakery union was released.
He had finished a one-year jail term for his labour activities
in Sanandajprison on March 23, 2008 but the authorities had refused to release him on that date.


IRNA reported that the non-standard natural gas fuel tank of a Pride passenger car exploded while being filled at a gas station in Talesh, Gilan province.
The car was demolished and three other cars got damaged.
One of the gasfuel pumps of Talesh Gas Station was totally demolished in the accident.
The cause of the accident was the non-standard gastank of the demolished passenger car.
There were no fatalities.


Three Iranian parliamentarians
Mohammad-Reza Tajeddini, Sattar Hedayat-Khah and Hassan Sheikholeslam wrote a letter to the Iranian foreign minister, asking to review the political and economic relations with the Netherlands.
Parliamentarian Eshrat Shayeq asked the same of the ministers of commerce and foreign affairs.
