Iran: rumors and facts

October 14 ended the two-months detention of Amir Mardani, a student active on ethnic issues.

PressTV reports that former Iranian foreign minister Ali-Akbar Velayati will not run in the upcoming presidential elections.

At the moment only secretary-general of Iran's National Confidence Party, Mehdi Karroubi, is the only candidate.
Whether the former president Khatami will run in the elections, is still unclear.
Maybe the major of Tehran Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf will also run for presidency.
President Ahmadinejad himself also can run for another term, he did not confirm yet that he will participate in the election.
