Iran: investigation

5700 Iranian lawyers have filed a petition to ayatollah Shahroudi in which they ask to prosecute 24 Israelian leaders and commanders for their crimes in the Gaza Strip.
They based their reasoning for the prosecution on international and domestic laws and presented eight sets of documents which provide evidence of war crimes and genocide in Gaza.
The 23-day fight against Palestinians in Gaza claimed near 1,400 Palestinian lives and wounded 5,450 others.



Iranian police have killed 10 armed drug smugglers in a clash near the city of Taybad, Khorasan Razavi Province and confiscated 1,284kg of narcotics.
Police also confiscated ammunitions and weapons.
Iran spends $600 million annually to fight against narcotics that are transited into Europe via Iran.


The Brazilian oilfirm Petrobras has announced the discovery of an oil field in the Tusan bloc in the Iranian waters of the Persian Gulf.
Since 2004 has the company been contracted by Iran to carry out exploration, and has so far invested around $100 million in exploration for oil.
When the Tusan exploration study is finalized, the company would not be involved in eventual production from the bloc, but is discussing something along the lines of production sharing.
In accordance to Iranian constitutional regulations, no foreign oil or gas company can hold incorporative contracts in Iran but they can finance or involve in product sharing.


The Health Ministry cited a new charge against the Aidsdoctors Arash and Kamyar Alaei who have been sentenced to six years in prison for attempts towards the peaceful overthrow of the regime.
The new charge is “Slander against Islamic Republic efforts in combating AIDS”.
The international organizations “Physician for Human Rights”, “Human Rights Watch Organization” and “Human Rights International Campaign in Iran”, issued a joint statement in which they demanded all charges against Alaei brothers to be dropped and both to be set free.
