Iran: revelations

The first Secretary of the US Interests Section of the Swiss Embassy in Tehran was arrested after being caught in a obscene situation with a woman in his car.
The police in Northern Tehran suspected the diplomatic-plated car in a parking lot and approached the vehicle.
Both were arrested and later released on bail.


The Iranian National Audit Office revealed that the government has failed to return $1.058 billion of oil revenues in the 2006-2007 budget to treasury.
Also there had been no mention of the National Iranian Oil Company's $61 million in taxes in government documents.
President Ahmadinejad last month denied reports that his government had illegally withdrawn funds from the foreign exchange reserves.


A gas leakage in Iran's Abouzar rig located in the Persian Gulf has led to a halt in the production of up to 50,000 barrels of oil.
During drilling operations at one of the platforms in the Abouzar rig was gas discovered.
The workers at the platform were evacuated as there was danger of poisoning.
Production is expected to resume operations within the next 48 hours.
