Amnesty International asks urgent action for the imminent execution of Yunes Aghayan, member of Ahle-haq group from Azerbaijan, who is sentenced to death for “enmity against God”.
He is in prison of Orumieh since November 2004.
Ín the same case is about February 28 another man executed, Mehdi Qasemzadeh executed.
In 2004 there were clashes between Iranian security forces and members of Ahl-e Haq group who refused to take down a religious slogan at their cattlefarm.
During these clashes five Ahl-e Haq members and at least three members of the security forces were killed.
Yunes Aghayan and four others were tried by Branch 2 in Mahabad.
In January 2005, Yunes Aghayan and Mehdi Qasemzadeh were sentenced to death, which sentences were upheld by the Supreme Court in April 2005.
Three others Sehend Ali Mohammadi, Bakhshali Mohammadi, and Ebadollah Qasemzadeh were also sentenced to death, but their death sentences were overturned by the Supreme Court in September 2007 to serve 13 years in prison in exile in Yazd.
