Human Rights Watch reports that May 14, a year ago, six Bahaileaders were arrested, while the seventh was detained earlier.
HRW urges their immediate release or be tried so they can defend themselves in fair and open proceedings against the serious charges against them. They have been charged with spying for Israel, "insulting religious sanctities," and spreading propaganda against the Islamic Republic.
None have had access to a lawyer.
Also, prison officials at Evin prison in Tehran informed relatives last week that they also will be charged with "spreading corruption on Earth" (mofsede fel arz).
This offense is punishable by death.
Six national leaders of Bahaifaith were arrested May 14, 2008 at their homes in Tehran.
Their names are Fariba Kamalabadi, Jamaloddin Khanjani, Afif Naeimi, Saeid Rezaie, Behrouz Tavakkoli, en Vahid Tizfahm. A seventh, Mahvash Sabet,secretary of the national community organization, was arrested May 5, 2008 in Mashad.

The released journalist Roxana Saberi left this morning from Imam Khomeini Airportin Tehran for Austria.
One of Saberi's lawyers said the spy charges against her were based on documents she obtained and copied on the U.S. war in Iraq.She never used them, although.
Iranian intelligence minister Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejehi said Wednesday that Saberi was guilty of spying, noting that her reduced sentence meant she had not been acquitted of all charges.

Iran will join an international armada protecting ships from piracy in the waters off the coast of Somalia and the Gulf of Aden.
In a letter to UN secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, Iran's ambassador to the UN, Mohammad Khazaei, said that two Iranian warships will sail within two das for a five-month patrol mission in international water mnear the Somalian Coast.
The warships will especially make effort to protect ships and oil tankers from Iran.
Also EU, USA, NATO and other states have warships been stationed in the region.
