Iran: one thing after the other

Press TV reports that a public relations official of the judiciary said that in Zahedan this morning 13 people were hanged.
They were sentenced to death for involvement with the bombings in Zahedan end of May.
All were members of the Jundullahgroup including relatives of Jundullah ringleader Abdelmalek Rigi.
His brother, Abdulhamed Rigi will be executed in the near future.

Iranian health officials say that, although only one person is diagnosed with having swine-flu, 200 individuals are suspected of having been infected with the AH1N1 virus.
The latest figures showed 150 individuals have tested positive for swine flu after hajj in Saudi Arabia.
The authorities had decided to enforce restrictions on hajj.
The country's first case of swine flu is an Iranian-American boy who came to visit his family.

The renowned Iranian protestsinger Mohsen Namjoo is in his absence convicted to five years in jail for "insulting religious sanctities".
He was charged by a quran-scholar who said that he insulted the quran by his songs.
The New York Times described him as the 'Iranian Bob Dylan'.
Namjoo is not currently in Iran.

The trial of the 7 imprisoned BahaĆ­leaders is is postponed.
A new date was not set.
The trial against Mrs. Fariba Kamalabadi, Mr. Jamaloddin Khanjani, Mr. Afif Naeimi, Mr. Saeid Rezaie, Mrs. Mahvash Sabet, Mr. Behrouz Tavakkoli, and Mr. Vahid Tizfahm who are imprisoned in Evin prison since last June, should be held Saturday.

Human Rights Activists in Iran heeft een published a report of an eyewitness of the events on Enghelab square in Teheran, July 9th.
That day the tenth anniversary of the bloody vigilante attacks on the students of the University of Tehran.
The people were savagely beaten by basij and vigilantes and many people were arrested.
The vigilantes were plainclothed and were between the demonstrators. When there were light clashes with the police, they assembled and attacked the people with brutal force.
The witness also told that after he was beaten by a baton, he wanted to go to a hospital, but there were also plainclothed vigilantes.They were riding a revolutionary guard vehicle with the words “Leader Unit” on it. There were twenty government-owned Toyotas in the hospital parking lot.

This Friday is Hashemi Rafsanjani the leader of Fridaysprayers and eventually Mousavi, Karoubi and Khatami will be present.
The blog Iran Watch Canada writes that this is the last chance for Rafsanjani to take side with the people instead of mediating peace among Khamenei-Ahmadinejad and the opposition.



PressTV says that several arrested people at the post-election demonstrations have exposed their links with the Mujahedin Khalq Organization (MKO).
Ali Eftekhari,deputy prosecutor in Qazvin province says that 7 people confessed.
The report says that security officials, identified and arrested a large number of MKO members, who later confessed that they were operating under the aegis of the MKO command post in Britain.
