Iran: torture

Reporters without Borders reports that 7 photographers and 1 cameraman have been arrested since June 12.
They include Mehdi Zabouli (arrested on 20 June), Tohid Bighi (11 July), Majid Saidi (11 July), Satyar Emami (11 July), Marjan Abdolahian (11 July) and Koroush Javan (11 July).
Also a French-Iranian cameraman was arrested on July 9th.
Said Movahedi, works for TF1 and CAPA.
It is not known why he was arrested and what he is charged with.
At least 5 other photographers have been injured by police of which Hamed Badie and Kian Aman were stabbed in Tehran.
Ali Zare,, a photographer who was arrested and tortured by militiamen and police for 48 hours in a location that he was unable to identify, has described to Reporters Without Borders how detainees are mistreated.

GlobalVoicesOnline writes about emergence of internet newspapers in Iran.
Since government tightened their grip on the media, newspapers are banned and 40 journalists have been arrested, internet newspapers emerged.
At the end of June two such newspapers were launched.
Khyaboon (”Street”) only available in e-mail (.pdf) and does not have a website, has till now published 10 issues and Kalam Sabz (”Green Word”), website which published 13 issues in e-mail (.pdf).

The blog iranhumanrights.blog has an interview with one of her friends about the arrest, rape and murder by Basij of Taraneh Mousavi, a girl who disappeared and whose burnt body was found in the fields near Qazvin.
The family has been threatened and are extremely scared to talk, they asked her friends not to call them anymore.
