Iran: ethics


Mohammad Ali Abtahi a reformist blogger and former vice-president,who had been jailed for several weeks and had no contact with the outside world, made in court during the trial Saturday a so-called "confession", in which he said there was no fraud during the election and that it was brought up to create riots in Iran. He was dressed in prisonpyamas and clearly lost weight.






Global Voices Online writes that various bloggers published photo's of him before and after the arrest.
Blogger Kaveh Ahanga writes (fa) that each word showed evidence of torture and also bloggers Alfba, and Sahriar write (fa) that they are supportive on him and that people are not to be discouraged.

Abdullah Momeni and Ahmad Zeidabadi, both of Iranian Organization of Scientists, have been detained in prison for nearly 50 days without having access to a lawyer.
There have been a few opportunities for the two to contact their families by telephone, but no visitation rights were granted.
Abdullah Momeni is imprisoned in ward 209 of the Ministry of intelligence of Evin prison, and Ahmad Zeidabadi is in detention centers under the auspices of the Judicial Branch and the Ministry of Intelligence.
There are no official charges against them.

In Zanjan students Bahram Vahedi and Sourena Hashemi were in prison for more than a month , Arash Rayeji and Payam Shakiba were over two months detained and Hassan Joneidi was more then 3 months in prison last summer.In addition, Alireza Firouzi was detained more than 15 days in Zanjan Prison due to allegations against his personal weblog.
All these students had filed complaints to stop the unethical behavior of Deputy Vice Chancellor of Zanjan Unversity toward one of the female students.
Students Bahram Vahedi, Sourena Hashemi, Arash Rayeji, Payam Shakiba and Mohammad Hassan Joneidi were accused of disturbing the public opinion and organizing illegal gatherings and sentenced to one year of imprisonment.
Alireza Firouzi was accused of involvement in actions against the regime and was sentenced to one year and four months of imprisonment.

Rashid Akhoknadi who was arrested last year in April in Isfahan on charges of acting against the government and cooperation with Kurd opposition groups, received his execution order from the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court.
His family says that the verdict is related to an incident ten years ago when the Kurdish Militia clashed with the Government forces. One person was killed and a familymember of the victim has asked for execution.
The ministry of intelligence and information says that according to the ministry of intelligence, he can be connected with activities to attempted murder, armed attack, kidnapping and cooperating with anti government groups in the area of Takht, Kurdestan province.

The Iranian judiciary closed offices of the independent Association of Iranian Journalists in Tehran.
The Brussel based International Federation of Journalists urges the Iranian government to stop the campaign of intimidation against journalists.
According to them 42 journalists were currently in detention in Iran, with three opposition journalists having been arrested this week.
