Iran: beliefs


ILNA reported yesterday that Iranian authorities closed the office of Mehdi Karoubi.
The office was sealed and the gathered evidence of the rapes and abuse which has taken place in prison was taken.
The website mowjcamp.ir said agents raided and searched the home of an aide of Karroubi, Morteza Alviri and took him away.
Ali Reza Behesti,one of Mousavi's aides, is also arrested.
Alviri and Behesti presented together the evidence to the parlementarian committee that 69 people have died in the post-election violence.
The police acknowledges some misconduct by guards in Kahrizakprison, but they say the majority of the people died of disease.
Statemedia focuses on the health problems of prisoners in the facility. Newsagency Mehr writes that those who are responsible get punished, the opposition says the government is using the Kahrizak prison cases to overshadow other claims of torture, rapes and deaths.

Mohammad Tavakoli and his wife Mahrokh Safayi from Amol, Mazandaran province, were banned from leaving the country when they returned from a trip to Europe.
When they arrived at their house, intelligence agents were waiting for them, searched their house, their ID's and their satellitedish were confiscated.
They were arrested 25 days ago and taken to the Intelligence ministry’s detention center in Sari. Their teenage son has also been summoned and interrogated at the Intelligence ministry’s headquarters.
Both have served prison sentences in past decades for being members of an opposition group. Friends and family say that, since being released after serving their sentences, the couple had not been involved in any political activities.

During the last ten days were in Sistan-e-Baluchestan province in the cities Zahedan and Saravan tens of people arrested and taken to unknown locations.
Although the reason for arrest is not given, reliable sources have reported that the common factor between all the arrestees is their family relationship with Baluchi political activists and with the Baluchistan Opposition Group.
The names of 13 arrested are:
Hamzeh Rigi, Saeid Naru’i, ‘Abdu’l-Rahman Rigi, ‘Ezzau’llah Rigi, ‘Abdu’l-Malek Rigi, Habibu’llah Rigi, Ebrahim Rigi, Ismael Rigi, Hamed Rigi, Ahmad Qanbarzehi, ‘Abdu’llah Naru’i, Asadu’llah Shahbakhsh, Naser Shahbakhsh.

The Christian prisoners Maryam Razandi, Ashraf Omidi, Mehdi Mohammadi, Mobina Lak, Nariman Sharifi, Shahin, en Shahnam Yarmohammad Tousk are temporarily released on bail, 32 days afther their arrest.
July 31 juli they were arrested at a raid at gathering for Christians in North Tehran. 25 people were released, 7 were transferred to Evinprison and put in solitary confinement.
