President Ahmadinejad says that the three imprisoned hitchhikers broke the law and need to be punished .
He says he symphatizes with the family, but that he would only consider releasing the hikers if Iranians held in U.S. prisons are also freed.
It was not exactly clear which Iranians he was referring to.
The three hikers Shane Bauer, Sarah Shourd en Josh Fattal were captured July 31th, when they strayed from the borderarea in Iraq to Kurdistan province.

Yesterday, the last Friday in the fasting month of Ramadan was Qodsday in Iran, a day with anti-Israel, pro-Palestine marches, demonstrated the reformist "Greens" massively against the government.
They chanted slogans like "No Gaza, no Lebanon, my life is for Iran", and instead of "death to Israel", the crowd chanted "death to Russia".
The people were wearing green wristbands, and shouted "torture and rape do not affect us any more."

Reporters without Borders writes that the journalist/blogger Ali Pirhasanlou together with his wife Fatemeh Sotoudeh, is arrested in his house by plain clothes agents.
Other journalists and activists were arrested or were summoned for questioning by the intelligence services this week.
After newspapers has the internet become the new targets for repression.
Noorooz (website of reformist party Islamic Iran Participation Front), Parlemannews (website of reformist parliamentarians), Tagheer (a news website) and the womanwebsites FeministSchool and We-Change suffer access blockages. We-Change has been blocked the 20th x since it was launched. Provincial news websites such as Kermannama.net (www.kermannama.net/) have also been blocked.
Reporter without Borders is also concerned about Mohammad Pour Abdoullah, the editor from the blog Pishro (Avant-Garde), who was arrested Januar 12th for writing about a crackdown on the studentmovements and the interrogation methods used by intelligence ministry agents.
He was brought to Ghezel Hessar,a prison for non-political detainees after 23 days in solitary confinement.
