Iran: measures

The Iranian Health Ministry has reported that 1638 people are diagnosed with Mexican flu/ swineflu/ Ah1N1 and 22 people have died. Most victims are between seven and twentyfour years old.
The director of the Education Organization of Tehran province says that at least 3 schools are closed as a precaution.
Authorities say that adopting simple precautionary measures such as washing hands frequently, using a tissue at the time of coughing and sneezing as well as avoiding kissing can help contain the virus.

Agents of the Ministry of Information in Orumieh shot shot 3 men in a car.
They claimed later that two of the passengers were members of an opposition party.
The names of the men were not revealed and till now the bodies were not returned to the families.

Journalist and human rights activist Abolfazl Abedini is released on a bail of $300,000.
Abedini is head of the public relations department Human Rights Activists.
He was arrested June 30th in Ahwaz and held for 4 months at Intelligence Ministry’s detention centers as well as at Sepidar Prison in Ahvaz.
His lawyer, Olyaifar says that Abedini’s heart condition requires medical treatment not available to him in prison.

The Iranian Department of Environment has warned that Iran is among the 10 countries which cause the most environmental destruction in the world.
In 100 years there will be no trees left in Iran if the devastation continues at such a pace.
The vice-president of the Environment Department says that Iran has to develop models to avoid such devastation for the next generation.
Informing the public about the endangered ecosystem and an environment friendly lifestyle must find their place in daily life.

Between March and September 2008is Iranian economy dropped by 3,3%.The deputyhead of the Central Bank says this is partially due to last year's massive drought in the country.
The agricultural sector had a negative growth of 10 % in the first half of the last Iranian calendar year (March-September 2008).
He predicted that inflation would continue its downward trend as the CBI has taken measures to reduce liquidity. Inflation dropped in the month September to 9.3%.
He also warned that liquidity growth might increase again if the CBI does not take additional measures.
Recession in the housing sector also contributed to the falling economic growth.
The jobless rate increased by 1.1 point to 11.3 percent in the three months that ended on September 22, 2009.
