Iran: not justified

The court in The Hague ruled February 3rd, that the decision of the Dutch government to ban Iranian students from certain locations in The Netherlands (like the nuclear researchreactors in Delft and Petten, the nuclear plants at Borssele, Urenco and COVRA) as to refuse them at certain parts of masterdegrees at Technical Universities in Nederland , is contrary to the prohibition of discrimination ( article 26 of IVBPR) because an objective and reasonable justification for distinction to Iranian nationals is missing.

Journalist , humanrights activist, member of the central council of Human Rights Organization of Kurdistan Kaveh Ghasemi Kermanshahi is arrested February 3 in Kermanshah.
Seven security agents searched his home and confiscated personal belongings.
He is transferred to an unknown location.

Sahar Ghassem Nejad and Nazanin Hassan Nia, familiemembers of people who were executed in the 1980's, are arrested february 3 in their house. A reason was not given.
Alireza Saghafi journalist,union rights defender and member of Iranian Writers’ Association, is arrested on February 3.

Three members of the Committee of Human Rights Reporters, Mehrdad Rahimi, Saeed Haeri and Shiva Nazar-Ahari, are charged with moharebe(war against god) for the transmission of e-mail containing incidents of human rights violations.
In recent days they have been under constant pressure to submit to a confession before a television camera.

According to several prisoners who were released from prison, are Alireza Firoozi and Soorna Hashemi somewhere in a ward in Evinprison.
They have not contacted their for more than a month.
During this time agents from the Ministry of Intelligence used their e-mail information to check the contents of their accounts and chat online with their friends and families.
Alireza and Soorna were expelled from Zanjan University and detained after exposing a university official for sexual abuse.
Soorna Hashemi is a member of a liberal student organization and Alireza Firoozi is blogger-journalist and human rights activist.

Hilary Clinton rejected the suggestion of Ahmadinejad for a prisoner swap for several Iranians jailed in the US for the three American hikers Shane Bauer, Sarah Shourd en Josh Fattal currently being held in Iran.
An american official said that there is no equivalence between three students who accidentally crossed a border and an Iranian citizen who has been indicted and/or convicted of arms trafficking in violation of international law.
