Women's rightactivist Soheila Vahdati told Radio Farda Jun 17 that Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, a mother of two children, who is imprisoned since 2005 in the prison of Tabriz, was convicted in 2006 for "illicit relationships" to 99 lashes.
The sentence was subsequently carried out and her case was closed.
Authorities reopened the case and accused Ashtiani and her boyfriend of murdering her husband.
According to Vahdati, Ashtiani was sentenced to be stoned to death for the same alleged act of adultery of which she already was convicted.
This means Ashtiani would be tried for the same alleged adulterous conduct, which is illegal.
Also her lawyer Mohammad Mostafaie writes in his blog that Ashtiani is in imminent danger of being stoned to death and that his client will be executed "for an offense she has not committed."
