Iran: further

59 political prisoners in Rajai Shahr ‘Gohardasht’ prison launched a statement Tuesday in which they announced an infinite hungerstrike .
Herewith they protest the suppression of the Iranian people’s righteous resistance and against the limitations imposed inside the prison.
The Student Committee in Defense of Political Prisoners (SCDPP), says that the message of the political prisoners was delivered to the organization with great difficulty.


An Iranian diplomat who fled to Paris told in an interview that the past 32 years the sole objective of the regime has been to retain power.
He also said that Iran’s leaders would rather “slaughter” their own people than surrender power to any popular revolt inspired by uprisings across the Arab world.

Shirin Ebadi has called on Iranians to hold public rallies on the occasion of International Women’s Day, 8 March, demanding reform of constitutional laws to achieve gender equality.



The head of Iran's Prisons Organisation said Tuesday that in the past 18 months 55000 people were sent to prison .There are 220.000 prisoners in total.
He also said that the country’s prisons had been enlarged by less than 55 square meters.

Accprding to reports is Kobra Banazadeh Amirkhizi (56) infected with HepatitisB on the infirmery of Gohardasht Prison. She suffered from an eye injury before this due to torture in cellblock 209 in Evin Prison.


Since July 13, 2008 is Iranian-Canadian Hamid Qasemi Shal in prison in Iran.
He is sentenced to death on charge of espionage and having links to the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran. His request for amnesty was rejected.
His family asked international institutions to prevent his execution.
