Iran: transfers

USA made a draft for a new temporary location in Iraq for the MKOrefugees who are living in Iraq, pending eventual resettlement in third countries.
Last month 34 people were killed in a raid by Iraqi security officers on Camp Ashraf.
The 3400 people don't have an official status in Iraq since the government has vowed to close the camp by the end of 2011.

Iranian parlement approved to increase the military budget with $3 billion.
Although there are no official data on Iran's military budget, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute predicted that Iran's military budget will exceed $7 billion in 2010.

Despite the crackdown and persecution, Iranian dissidents are actively involved in cyberspace and online the dissent and discussion about Iranian regime continous.Also the events in Syria are talked about. The Iranian government earmarked $500 million for a cyberwarfare campaign, and there is something called the “Basij cyber-committee” boast of training “1,500 active bloggers engaged in battle.

There are plans to build a new prison in Tehran which holds 15.000 prisoners. According to the Prison System Organization there are so many prisoners in Alborz province, that they want to construct a new prison in Tehran.
This is a request by all greater Karaj city officials.

Zia Nabavi is along with 25 other prisoners transferred from Karounprison to "Ordugah Klinik" [Camp Clinic].
This transfer follows the letter Nabavi wrote to the head of the judiciary about the inhumane conditions in Karounprison.
Each cell holds 6 prisoners and the prisoners have access to beds and fresh air.

A court in Seoul has granted refugeestatus to a 28-year-old Iranian who hoisted a green banner with the text Free Iran in Seoul in 2009. The Iranian, who converted from muslem to christian is a student in Korea.In june 2009, during the post-election unrest, the Iranian demonstrated alone against the government in Tehran in the stands of the Sangam World Cup Stadium where Iran had a preliminary World Cup soccer match with South Korea.Officials took pictures of him.
Because converted christians are facing harsh punishment in Iran, and he will be most certainly prosecuted when he returns home, he was granted asylum.
