Amnesty International published a report PDF about the executions in 2011.
At least 676 executions were carried out worldwide in 2011, these are 527 more then in 2010. The increase is largely due to a significant increase in judicial killings in Iran, Iraq and Saudi Arabia.
The executions in China were not counted in this list.

Political prisoner, student activist, journalist, blogger, and member of Iran National Front Peyman Aref has been returned to Evinprison after being one day in the hospital.
He reportedly ended his hunger strike upon his return to prison today. He is protesting his continued detention despite the fact he had posted bail.

In The Guardian is an interview with Ali Mahin Torabi who was sentenced to death when he was 16, after killing another boy in a fight.
After seven years, seven months and 11 days,he was set free at a review of his case.
After being summoned again he fled to Turkey.

As part of Amnesty Internationals campaign against the deathpenalty Sherbet made an animation video about the lawyer Mohammad Mostafaei, who has saved 20 of the 40 juveniles he has defended from execution in Iran.
He had to flee himself and lives now in Norway.
