Iran: prison December 6th 2012


An earthquake ocurred yesterday in the Zohan district, province South-Khorasan measuring 5.5 in magnitude.
8 people were klled and 12 people were injured.
Fars reported that many houses were demolished and people still are missing.

The imprisoned journalist couple Jila Bani-Yaghoub and Bahman Ahmadi Amouyi were not allowed to visit each other in four months.
Website Kaleme reports that despite repeated attempts by the family, the judiciary has refused to allow the two jailed journalists to meet. Bahman Ahmadi Amouyi is jailed in Rejaishahr Prison in Karaj and his wife is in Evinprison.
He is convicted to 5 years in prison and has not been given a furlough in 32 months. She is convicted to 1 year in prison and has been banned from journalism for 30 years.

A member of parliament and Majlis NSFPC said that nothing illegal takes place in Evinprison despite the rumours of mistreatment of prisoners.
He said that imprisoned lawyer and human rights activist Nasrin Sotoudeh herself refuses to meet her children.
He also said that he has obtained this information from “related organizations.

The condition of political prisoner Seyyed Ahmad Reza Ahmadpour who started a hungerstrike when he was arrested is deteriorating.
Prisonauthorities said said he can remain in his present situation until he dies to prevent him writing a letter to the United Nations. After being convicted after the 2009 elections on charges of propaganda against the regime to one year in prison, he wrote a letter to UN and was sentenced to three years in prison and ten years exile from his home city.
