Iran: lenght

In the city of Bandar Abbas is a man from Bangladesh hanged, convicted seven years ago for the murder of his brother-in-law.
The verdict should be carried out three years ago, but, according to Iranian law there needs to be a complaint from either the parents or the children of the victim to execute the prisoner. The female complaint does not count.
After searches of the Bangladeshian embassy and Foreign Ministry failed, the judiciary decided to carry out the sentence.



The longest road tunnel in Iran, connecting the two cities of Ahram and Farashband in the province of Bushehr will be officially opened today,
The tunnel has a lenght of 2,065m.
Construction of the tunnel started in 1996 and the costs are Rls3,550,000,000mln (301,590.00 EUR).


Iran ranks among the world’s most corrupt countries.

An annual report, made by Transparency International was published this week.
Iran lists at 105th place out of 163 in the 2006 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI).
The theocratic regime scored 2.7 on the zero-to-10 scale, with zero indicating the highest level of perceived corruption.
