Iran: bump?

Up to 2200hrs local time people could vote yesterday in Iran.
These elections will give the first indication of President Ahmadinejad's popularity since his 2005 poll victory.
At some polling stations in Tehran people had to queue for fortyfive minutes to cast their vote.
The race in the municipal councils is mostly between reformists, conservatives and neoconservatives(those who want a return to revolutionary values).
The Expert Assembly is according to Mohsen Esmaili, a candidate, " the symbol of connection between the people and the leadership. It has to provide more communication to narrow the gap between the people and their leader.".
Complete results are expected Sunday.

Foreign nationals have occupied 1,3 million jobs in Iran, while only 1,000 of them hold work permits. Two third of the Afghans illegally enter Iran and hold 1.3 million jobs across the country.
This was said by Mohammad Hassan Salehi-Maram, director general of Labor Ministry’s Department for Employment of Foreigners, speaking on a seminar.
According to him this poses a threat to the national economy.
With the implementation of Article 22 of Labor Law since 2003, he said, work permits were issued to check the inflow of foreign workers in the agriculture, industries and services sectors but only 300 work permits have ever been issued.
The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs should have legal facilities to combat illegal employment of foreigners, he noted.
It is a daunting task to inspect 1.6 million workshops nationwide with a small pool of 500 inspectors, he said, disclosing that the number of foreign nationals has increased by 500,000 since March 2006 despite all efforts to stem this trend.
