Iran: strong

Zamel Bawi was hanged on Thursday in the prison of Ahwaz city.



According to ADNkronos the Dutch Abdullah al-Mansouri, Saiid Saki, en Ali Mazrae, await execution.
They are convicted of 'armed insurrection' .
Al-Mansouri was arrested in Syria in 2006 and extradited to Iran. He fled Iran in 1988 and has obtained Dutch nationality.

Al-Mansouri is president of Ahwaz Liberation Organization (ALO).



Iranian daily Etemad Melli reported that a young man Mohsen was sentenced to death after a court judged him a "hardened and incorrigible drinker".
A section of Tehran's criminal court is currently deciding whether the man, should be executed.
He was arrested after allegedly being caught for the fourth time in possession of alcohol and in a state of drunkenness.
Article 179 of Iran's penal code punishes with the death sentence anyone caught drinking alcohol more than three times.


The European Parliament on Thursday adopted a strongly-worded resolution denouncing human rights violations in Iran.
The resolution was adopted by 561 votes to 52 with 44 abstentions.
It “strongly condemns the death sentences and executions in Iran, in particular those imposed or carried out on juvenile offenders and minors”.
The European Parliament also accused the Iranian regime of increasing “violent repression against political opponents, human rights defenders, journalists, web loggers, teachers, intellectuals, women, students, trade unionists, and persons belonging to religious, ethnic, linguistic or other minorities”.


In Iran there are childoffenders, still on death row.
