Iran: cope

The winner of the Olof Palmeprice 2007, Parvin Ardalan said that she is prevented from leaving Iran by the authorities.
She told that she yesterday boarded an Air France plane destined for Stockholm to take part in the prize ceremony but in the plane they paged her name and told her that she was barred from leaving the country.
They took her passport and asked her to refer to the presidential office department for passport affairs after 72 hours to take it back.
They also told her that she still has an open (judicial) case, which is not true.
On February 24 she was summoned to court for unknown reasons.
She appeared before the court but the judge was not there.
According to law when they are not there they should issue a new summons warrant which they did not.
Ardalan, one of the founders of Iranian women's movement, was sentenced to three years in prison in April 2007.
She has appealed the verdict and has yet to serve time in prison.
The prize ceremony will be held in Stockholm on March 6.

Iran wants full implementation of the gas accord with Turkmenistan, and has to find a solution for the failure to respect it.
The deputy oil minister from Iran told Fars newsagency that this is a long-term contract and there have been some disputes between the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) and Turkmenistan National Gas Company.
Those disputes can be resolved in a logical manner and through dialogue.
Turkmenistan halted gasexports to Iran beginning February, for technical problems as one of the reasons for suspending, a matter that has to be duly examined by Iranian experts.
At the time when Turkmenistan halted gas deliveries, the volume of gas Iran imported from Turkmenistan was 23-24 million cubic meters per day.
