Iran: deeds

Friday, May 16, 2008 , it is two years ago that Abdullah Al Mansouri was arrested by Syria.
Then he was handed over to Iran, where he since then remains in prison without a fair trial .
Therefore, an action will be held Friday in The Hague.
In front of the Iranian embassy in The Hague, Amnesty will at 0900 construct a wall.
On that wall many volunteers write a dash. Together these dashes count the days that Abdoullah Al-Mansouri is in custody.
Around midday hopes Amnesty director Eduard Nazarski to consult with the Iranian ambassador.

In Isfahan is a man arrested, who killed his 17-year-old daughter Farzaneh.
The newspaper Etemad wrote (fa) that the daughter had been kidnapped by his ex son-in-law and stayed with him for 10 days.
After this 10 days the man felt dishonoured and he killed her while the rest of the family and the ex son-in-law knew.
The man, Ahmad, the ex son-in-law Saeed and the sister of Farzaneh are arrested.
Newsagency Fars reported May 6 that a man in Tehran tried to bury his daughter alive, while she is a drugsaddict. He beat her up first and then buried her in a grave, while she was still alive.
The girl was saved by people passing by and transferred to the hospital.
Honour killings are occurring in Iran with a much higher incidence than before. These phenomena are not only occurring in the remote villages, but are also being observed in the bigger Iranian cities.
Human rights advocates believe the increasing incidence of honour killings is due to the laws inserted in the Iranian constitution after 1980.
For instance art. 220 of the Iranian Penal Code states:
“If a father, or his male ancestors, kills his child, he will not be condemned for a murder".
Article 1179 of the Civil Code states, “Parents have the right to punish their children within the limits prescribed by law.”

The Iranian Minister of Intelligence told that Iran has arrested a total of 15 people over a deadly mosque bombing in April in the city of Shiraz.
He also said that those arrested were all Iranians. They also intended to bomb a Russian consulate in Iran.
Newsagency Fars reported that the Minister ruled out any links between the Shiraz bombers and Iran's main armed opposition, the People's Mujahedeen Organisation of Iran.

Pakistan will soon officially deliver some top members of the Jundullah terrorist group, who are currently in custody, to Iran.
The Pakistan Balochistan based group has made various attacks in Sistan-e-Baluchistan province in recent years.
Some believe the group is linked to Al-Qaeda.

In Iran there are childoffenders, still on death row.

Children are being hanged to death.
