Womens rightactivist and foundingsmember of the One Million Signatures Campaign Maryam Hosseinkhah is summoned to the Revolutionary Courts.This summons is related to the case pending against her in relation to the March 4 protest.
Initially the trial was scheduled for November 2007,during that time she was imprisoned on security charges related to her activities on Change for Equality, the site of the Campaign, and the site of Zanestan.
Also women’s rights activist and a member of the Campaign Jelve Javaheri was summoned to the Revolutionary Courts.She was charged of "actions against national security," in relation to her activities on the site of Change for Equality, the site of the One Million Signatures Campaign.
Both women spent a month in jail and were released on bail in January.
Her trial is scheduled for August 2, 2008.
The rights group of Nobel peace laureate Shirin Ebadi warned in her annual report against a "systematic violation" of human rights in Iran and criticized the government over its treatment of dissidents and activists.
The Defenders of Human Rights Centre, formed by five prominent lawyers and headed by Ebadi said in its report that the lack of a real and effective observance of human rights deepens the gap between the people and the government and breaks the pillars of peace, stability and development in the country.
Last year, censorship and indirect pressure has reached the highest level, 32 media workers were sentenced to jail, lashes and fines, and that 17 publications as well as eight news websites were shut down.
They also criticized Iran's treatment of student activists, women's rights campaigners, religious minorities, labour unionists and teachers demanding better wages.
Over the past year 108 students had been arrested, 45 interrogated, five put on trial and 15 were handed sentences including jail, lashes and fines.
Also 31 labourers had been jailed, another 31 arrested, eight put on trial and at least 36 summoned to judicial or security bodies "only for pursuing their union rights".
Several women have been arrested in recent months over their involvement in womens rights activities and also the crackdown on "bad veiling"is one of the outstanding examples of violating women's rights.
