Iran: appear

The Committee to Protect Journalists reports that Thursday the deathsentence against Kurdish journalist Adnan Hassanpour is overturned by a court of appeal.
He will face a new trial on charges of “working for outlawed parties” and espionage.
Hassanpour's lawyer, Salih Nikbakht, confirmed this for BBC-Persian radio.


Reporters Without Borders reports that August 13, The Commission for Press Authorisation and Surveillance, headed by the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Orientation, cancelled the licence of two weekly newspapers.
The ecological magazine Tarabestan Sabaz, magazine of an activist body of the same name published in Tehran for ten years, was shut down by the authorities.
Entertainment newspaper Sargarmi, specialising in crosswords, was closed for “publishing inappropriate comments” after the newspaper carried a page of texts from readers some of which included humorous messages about Iranian politicians.



Solmaz Igdar is arrested near the cemetary Kharvaran and since then her familymembers have no knowledge about her condition.
Solvaz Igdar is a computerstudent at an independent university, a student of social sciences at Payam Noor, she works for ngo's for child and woman rights in Shosh and also reports for the website of Iranian Women's Center.
Her mother said in an interview with a reporter from Iranian Women's Center that she spoke with her daughter on cellphone on August 30, 11.30hrs. Apparently, the security guards had prevented people from entering the perimeter of the cemetery and Solmaz said that people held a gathering on the other side of the autobahn.
Her mother said that around 20:30 pm, they were contacted by intelligence-officers in the city of Rey and were told that she had been arrested and taken to Evin prison.
Since then her family went to Evinprison several times, but no information was given to them.
Familymembers of other detainees of Khavaran cemetary were also present there, and also got no information.
