Iran: prison

Mansour Osanloo the head of the Tehran busdrivers union was transferred from Evin prison to Rajaei prison in the city of Karaj.
According to a report of the Committee of Students Defending Political Prisoners, Osanloo was transferred to Hall 10 in Reformatory 4.
Osanloo has a bad healthcondition, a heart condition and poor eye sight.
Prison authorities previously told him they planned to transfer him to a hospital for treatment.
Rajaeiprison, former Gohar Dasht, is used to house hardcore criminals convicted of crimes such as first degree murder.
However, political prisoners are also kept in this jail.



Kurdish prisoners in Iran began an indefinite hungerstrike last week.
The report came from Kurdish newsagency Mokrian and was confirmed by the sister of Adnan Hasanpour, the Kurdish journalist who is sentenced to death.
According to the report the hungerstrikers want to sensitise Iranian and international public opinion to protest against the deathsentences given to Kurdish people and the continuing human rights violations inside and outside prison.
A report from Kurdistan Human Rights Organization said that the number of hungerstrikers have increased to one hundred.
Since last week internet service has been interrupted in Kurdish towns, and yesterday all internet cafes were closed.
Also satellites have been scrambled and telephone communication with some prisons with hungerstrikers is not possible.
